Wedding Chauffeur Hire and Wedding Car Hire in London

MILE5 > Wedding Chauffeur Hire and Wedding Car Hire in London
Wedding chauffeur hire, London

MILE5 provides chauffeur-driven Mercedes wedding cars in London and the Home Counties: an S-Class or E-Class for the couple, a seven-seat V-Class for bridesmaids, parents or the groom’s party, ribbons fitted to match your colours, and a chauffeur who has driven the route in advance. We are a working chauffeur company rather than a wedding-only hire firm, so quotes cover the hours and journeys you need.

A Mercedes wedding car, priced as chauffeur hire

Ask anyone who has priced wedding transport and you will hear the same complaint: the moment the word “wedding” appears, the quote doubles. On forums such as Mumsnet, couples describe being quoted several hundred pounds for a two-mile journey in a vintage car, and the advice that comes back is often to book “a posh private hire” instead, add ribbons, and spend the difference on something guests will notice. That is, more or less, what MILE5 offers. A chauffeur-driven Mercedes S-Class with ribbons looks the part in every photograph, is warm in January and cool in July, has air conditioning that works and doors that shut, and is priced as chauffeur hire for the time you need it.

The other thing a working chauffeur firm brings is reliability. Our chauffeurs drive London every day, including the streets around register offices, churches and hotels that vintage-car operators visit once a year. If the M25 closes or the Strand is shut for an event, the chauffeur already knows the alternative.

What is included with a MILE5 wedding car

Ribbons and flowers

Ribbons fitted to the bonnet in the colour you choose. Bows or small floral arrangements on request; tell us what your florist is planning and we will match it.

A chauffeur, not just a driver

Suited, DBS-checked, TfL-licensed. Opens doors, helps with the dress and the train, holds an umbrella, and stays out of the photographs unless asked.

A route driven in advance

Where the day involves an unfamiliar venue, the chauffeur checks the approach, the drop-off point and the timing before the day itself.

Time to breathe

The car arrives early and waits. If you want a slow lap of the block before walking in, or a few minutes alone together after the ceremony, that is what the car is there for.

How wedding car hire is usually arranged

Most London weddings need one of three shapes of booking, and the quote depends on which one you want.

ShapeTypical useWhat to tell us
Single journeyHome or hotel to the ceremony, or ceremony to reception. Guests rarely see the departure, so many couples book one way.Addresses, arrival time, number of passengers
Ceremony and receptionTo the ceremony, wait, then on to the reception with the couple. The most common booking.Ceremony length, whether photographs happen on site
The whole dayMorning preparations to evening send-off, sometimes with a second car for the wedding party, booked as directed hire.A rough timeline; we will build the car plan around it

Larger parties are handled with a second or third car rather than a stretch limousine: an S-Class for the couple and a V-Class for six bridesmaids, or two V-Classes for a big family group, all arriving together. If guests are flying in for the wedding, the same fleet handles Heathrow, Gatwick and the other London airports, met inside arrivals with a name board, so you can book the airport transfers and the wedding cars in one conversation and receive one invoice.

The cars

Mercedes-Benz S-Class

The wedding car. Long rear doors that make getting out in a dress easy, a wide back seat, and a quiet cabin for the drive between ceremony and reception.

Mercedes-Benz E-Class

For parents, the groom, or a smaller budget. Same colour, same ribbons, same chauffeur standard.

Mercedes-Benz V-Class

Seven seats and sliding doors. Bridesmaids and their dresses, the groom’s party, or grandparents who would rather not fold themselves into a saloon.

All MILE5 cars are black Mercedes replaced on a three-year cycle and valeted before every wedding. We do not run vintage, white or convertible cars; if your day needs one of those, we are happy to provide the cars for everyone else in the party.

Weddings across London and the Home Counties

We drive weddings at register offices, churches, hotels and country houses across London, and out to venues in Surrey, Berkshire, Hertfordshire, Kent and Essex. That covers the north London town halls in Islington, Camden and Haringey, Old Marylebone Town Hall and Chelsea Old Town Hall, the Mayfair and Knightsbridge hotels, and country-house venues within an hour or so of the M25. If your venue is further out, tell us and we will quote it.

Wedding cars: frequently asked questions

How much does it cost to hire a wedding car in London?

MILE5 quotes wedding cars individually, based on the journeys or hours you need, the number of cars and the date, rather than as a fixed wedding package. Because the cars are the Mercedes fleet we run every day, the price is chauffeur hire for the time booked. Send your date and addresses through the contact form for a quote.

Do you decorate the car?

Yes. Ribbons in the colour of your choice are fitted to the bonnet as standard, and bows or small floral arrangements can be added on request to match your florist’s scheme.

Can you provide more than one car?

Yes. A typical wedding pairs an S-Class for the couple with a seven-seat V-Class for bridesmaids or family, and larger parties can have two or three cars arriving together. We do not offer stretch limousines.

Do wedding cars need a private hire licence?

In London, any car carrying passengers for payment must be driven by a licensed private hire driver working for a licensed operator, and weddings are not exempt. MILE5 is a Transport for London licensed operator (licence 009161) and every chauffeur is TfL-licensed and DBS-checked, so your wedding transport is legal and insured.

Will the chauffeur wait between the ceremony and reception?

Yes, if your booking includes both legs. The chauffeur waits at the ceremony venue for as long as you need, including photographs, and takes you on to the reception when you are ready.

How far in advance should we book?

Saturdays between May and September book up earliest. Two to three months ahead is comfortable for most dates; for a peak summer Saturday, earlier is safer. Short-notice bookings are often possible on weekdays.

Can you also collect wedding guests from the airport?

Yes. The same fleet runs airport transfers from Heathrow, Gatwick, Stansted, Luton and London City, met inside arrivals with a name board and 60 minutes of free waiting from landing. Guest transfers and wedding cars can be booked together.

MILE5 is a TfL-licensed chauffeur company operating from Heathrow since 2011. See our other chauffeur services in London, including as directed hire by the hour, or get in touch about your date.
