Stansted Airport to Wandsworth Transfer – Fixed Price to the Riverside and the Town Centre

A Stansted Airport to Wandsworth transfer is a fixed-price Mercedes chauffeur, around 65 to 85 minutes door to door and from £209 one way, running in both directions 24/7. The return leg, Wandsworth to Stansted Airport, is the same fixed fare and the same route in reverse. Wandsworth is the furthest south-west address MILE5 covers from Stansted – a residential borough rather than a visitor destination, and the drive time reflects that distance honestly.

This journey is one of the routes on our Stansted airport chauffeur page, which covers every destination we drive from the airport with the same Mercedes fleet, the same met-at-arrivals pickup and the same fixed-price promise.

All prices are fixed and all-inclusive, agreed before you travel, in both directions. Final quote depends on exact pickup or drop-off address, vehicle choice and any additional stops. No surge pricing, no hidden fees.

Every fare includes in-terminal meet-and-greet inside the Stansted arrivals hall, flight tracking so a delayed landing doesn’t cost you the booking, and 60 minutes of complimentary waiting time. The £10 Express Set Down charge at the terminal is absorbed in the price shown, and so is the ULEZ charge and the Congestion Charge where the journey into Wandsworth crosses into the zone – the airport itself sits outside both, the charges belong to the journey, not the pickup. Split seven ways, £312 works out at £45 a head for the whole run – useful for a family group moving in or out together.

The Riverside Developments and the Town Centre

Wandsworth’s stretch of the Thames has seen the same kind of riverside redevelopment as its neighbours further east – new residential blocks along the water, with the older town centre a short distance inland around the Wandsworth one-way system. This is genuinely a residential page more than anything else on MILE5’s London list: most bookings here are people moving house, visiting family, or living locally rather than visiting an attraction, which shapes the kind of practical detail that actually matters for the transfer.

MILE5 covers Wandsworth alongside the wider SW River Corridor cluster, including our Fulham transfer, book Clapham from Stansted, the Battersea pickup page and transfers to Vauxhall.

The One-Way System

Wandsworth town centre runs on a one-way gyratory that catches out drivers who don’t know it – the direct-looking route on a map often isn’t the fastest actual route once the one-way restrictions are factored in. MILE5 drivers who run this route regularly know the gyratory and plan around it, rather than following a satnav’s straight-line suggestion into a road that only goes one way.

Wandsworth Chauffeur vs the Stansted Express vs a Hire Car

For one person travelling in daylight hours, the honest comparison starts with the train, not the car.

OptionJourney timeWorth knowing
MILE5 chauffeur65-85minDoor to door, fixed price, the one-way system planned around in advance
Stansted Express + Underground48min to Liverpool St + a changeWins on price for one person, but Wandsworth needs a further Underground leg south-west – a poor fit for a house move or luggage
Hire car65-85minSimilar drive time, but the one-way system catches out drivers unfamiliar with it, on top of the ULEZ and Congestion Charge – both already built into MILE5’s fixed price

For a family group moving in or out together, the better comparison is a pre-booked chauffeur against a minicab booked at short notice – see MILE5’s comparison of Addison Lee against Uber in London.

What Running This Route Has Taught Us

The Stansted Express is honestly the right call for one person catching a daytime train into Liverpool Street – it’s faster and it’s cheaper, and Wandsworth is only a short further hop by Underground from there. Where the car earns its keep is at the edges: the first trains out of London don’t leave until 05:30, or 06:00 Tuesday to Thursday, which misses check-in for the earliest departure wave out of Stansted, and the last train back from the airport leaves at 00:30, so a delayed late arrival lands into no train at all. That gap, in both directions, is where a pre-booked fixed-price car earns its keep over a train-and-Underground combination – and for a house move or a family with luggage, a driver who already knows the one-way system beats working it out on the day.

Your Driver at Stansted Airport

Stansted has one terminal building – there’s no North or South side to specify, unlike Gatwick. Your driver waits inside the arrivals hall holding a name board, tracking your flight so a delay shifts the pickup time rather than costing you the booking. The Express Set Down area sits right next to the terminal, and the £10 charge there is already built into the fixed price above. Check the arrivals board and MILE5‘s own Stansted Airport guide for terminal-specific detail on the day.

Stansted to Wandsworth Chauffeur – Frequently Asked Questions

How much is a Stansted Airport to Wandsworth transfer?

Fares start from £209 one way in the E-Class, £305 in the S-Class and £312 in the V-Class, fixed and agreed before you travel, the same in both directions.

Do you cover Wandsworth to Stansted Airport transfers too?

Yes – every booking runs in both directions at the same fixed price, whether you’re travelling out to Wandsworth or making the Wandsworth to Stansted Airport run afterwards.

Is Wandsworth mainly a residential booking?

Yes – most Wandsworth bookings are people moving house, visiting family or living locally, rather than visiting an attraction, which is why this page focuses on practical local detail.

How long does the drive from Stansted Airport to Wandsworth take?

Around 65 to 85 minutes in normal traffic, running the M11 before crossing south-west London.

Is the Stansted Express cheaper than a chauffeur to Wandsworth?

On price alone for one person, yes. It’s about 48 minutes to Liverpool Street, but Wandsworth needs a further Underground change from there, which doesn’t help with luggage or a house move.

Does the one-way system in Wandsworth cause delays?

It can for drivers unfamiliar with it – the direct-looking route on a map isn’t always the fastest once the gyratory’s one-way restrictions are factored in. MILE5 drivers plan around it.

What happens if my flight into Stansted is delayed?

Nothing changes on your end. Every Wandsworth booking is flight-tracked, so a delayed landing shifts your driver’s pickup time automatically rather than costing you the fare or the booking.

Can I book a larger vehicle for a family move?

Yes – the V-Class seats up to seven with matching luggage space, and at £312 for the whole vehicle that works out at £45 a head for a full group.
