Stansted Airport to The Ned Hotel Transfer – Fixed Price to Bank Junction
A Stansted Airport to The Ned Hotel transfer is a fixed-price Mercedes chauffeur, around 55 to 75 minutes door to door and from £196 one way, running in both directions 24/7. The return leg, The Ned Hotel to Stansted Airport, is the same fixed fare and the same route in reverse. The Ned occupies the former Midland Bank headquarters right on Bank junction, and it runs as much like a members’ club as a hotel, which shapes the arrival as well as the stay.
This journey is one of the routes on our luxury Stansted airport transfer page, which covers every destination we drive from the airport with the same Mercedes fleet, the same met-at-arrivals pickup and the same fixed-price promise.

All prices are fixed and all-inclusive, agreed before you travel, in both directions. Final quote depends on exact pickup or drop-off address, vehicle choice and any additional stops. No surge pricing, no hidden fees.
Every fare includes in-terminal meet-and-greet inside the Stansted arrivals hall, flight tracking so a delayed landing doesn’t cost you the booking, and 60 minutes of complimentary waiting time. The £10 Express Set Down charge at the terminal is absorbed in the price shown, and so is the ULEZ charge and the Congestion Charge where the journey into The Ned Hotel crosses into the zone – the airport itself sits outside both, the charges belong to the journey, not the pickup. Split seven ways, £292 works out at £41 a head for the whole run – a practical option for a family or group arriving together.
A Former Bank at the Heart of the City
The Ned’s building was the Midland Bank’s head office, and the scale of the place still shows in the marble banking hall that now serves as its lobby. Bank junction itself sits inside the City of London’s one-way system around Poultry and Princes Street, which means the drop-off approach differs from a typical hotel entrance, and MILE5 drivers who run this route regularly know which side street gives the smoothest final approach.
MILE5 also covers transfers to Rosewood London a short distance away, and for the wider district, the nearby The City of London route.
More Like a Club Than a Hotel
The Ned runs its own private members’ club alongside the public hotel rooms, and a good number of arrivals here are members rather than typical hotel guests – which brings its own timing patterns around club events and evening bookings. MILE5 also runs book Andaz London Liverpool Street from Stansted and our The Zetter Hotel page nearby in the same part of the City.
The Ned Hotel Chauffeur vs the Stansted Express vs a Hire Car
For one person travelling in daylight hours, the honest comparison starts with the train, not the car.
| Option | Journey time | Worth knowing |
|---|---|---|
| MILE5 chauffeur | 55-75min | Door to door, navigating the one-way system to the right side street, fixed price |
| Stansted Express + Underground | 48min to Liverpool St + a change | Wins on price for one person – Bank junction is close enough to Liverpool Street that a short Underground hop or a walk covers it |
| Hire car | 55-75min | Similar drive time, but parking around Bank junction is scarce, on top of the ULEZ and Congestion Charge – both already built into MILE5’s fixed price |
For a family or group arriving together, the better comparison is a pre-booked chauffeur against a minicab booked at short notice – see MILE5’s comparison of Uber Exec against Uber Lux in London.
What Running This Route Has Taught Us
The Stansted Express is honestly the right call for one person catching a daytime train into Liverpool Street – it’s faster and it’s cheaper, and Bank junction is close enough from there. Where the car earns its keep is the one-way system itself: a driver who doesn’t know which side street gives the cleanest approach can lose several minutes circling Bank junction, and a group with cases is far better served by one fixed-price car dropped at the right door.
Your Driver at Stansted Airport
Stansted has one terminal building – there’s no North or South side to specify, unlike Gatwick. Your driver waits inside the arrivals hall holding a name board, tracking your flight so a delay shifts the pickup time rather than costing you the booking. The Express Set Down area sits right next to the terminal, and the £10 charge there is already built into the fixed price above. Check the arrivals board and MILE5‘s own Stansted Airport guide for terminal-specific detail on the day.
