Stansted Airport to Stratford Transfer – Fixed Price to Westfield and the Olympic Park

A Stansted Airport to Stratford transfer is a fixed-price Mercedes chauffeur, around 50 to 70 minutes door to door and from £178 one way, running in both directions 24/7. The return leg, Stratford to Stansted Airport, is the same fixed fare and the same route in reverse. This page covers Stratford in east London, not Stratford-upon-Avon, which MILE5 covers separately.

This journey is one of the routes on our Stansted chauffeur service page, which covers every destination we drive from the airport with the same Mercedes fleet, the same met-at-arrivals pickup and the same fixed-price promise.

Stratford sits close to 30 miles south-west of Stansted Airport – one of every London district we cover from Stansted. The route runs the M11 before crossing into east London, and in normal traffic that’s around 50 to 70 minutes, one of the quicker runs on MILE5’s London list.

All prices are fixed and all-inclusive, agreed before you travel, in both directions. Final quote depends on exact pickup or drop-off address, vehicle choice and any additional stops. No surge pricing, no hidden fees.

Every fare includes in-terminal meet-and-greet inside the Stansted arrivals hall, flight tracking so a delayed landing doesn’t cost you the booking, and 60 minutes of complimentary waiting time. The £10 Express Set Down charge at the terminal is absorbed in the price shown, and so is the ULEZ charge and the Congestion Charge where the journey into Stratford crosses into the zone – the airport itself sits outside both, the charges belong to the journey, not the pickup. Split seven ways, £263 works out at £38 a head for the whole run, straightforward for a family or a group heading to the same address.

Westfield, the Olympic Park, and Event Days

Stratford is one of London’s busiest single destinations – Westfield Stratford City is one of Europe’s largest shopping centres, and the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park next door hosts everything from the London Stadium to the London Aquatics Centre and the arena. On a normal day the route in is straightforward, but event days at the stadium or arena change every approach: road closures, pedestrian-only zones and a surge in drop-off traffic can all appear with only a few hours’ notice.

MILE5 covers Stratford alongside the wider Docklands and events cluster, including our Canary Wharf transfer service, our The O2 page, the Greenwich route page and the London Bridge pickup page.

Why Event Days Need Advance Planning

A concert at the arena or a match at the London Stadium can close roads and redirect drop-off points with very little warning, and a driver who doesn’t check the day’s event calendar can end up stuck well short of the venue. MILE5 checks for scheduled events on your travel date and plans the approach and drop-off point around it, rather than assuming a normal day.

Stratford Chauffeur vs the Stansted Express vs a Hire Car

For one person travelling in daylight hours, the honest comparison starts with the train, not the car.

OptionJourney timeWorth knowing
MILE5 chauffeur50-70minDoor to door, fixed price, drivers who check the event calendar before choosing a drop-off point
Stansted Express48min to Liverpool St + a changeWins on price and time to Liverpool Street itself, but Stratford needs a further change – add 15-20 minutes and it’s a poor fit with luggage or on an event day
Hire car50-70minSimilar drive time on a normal day, but event-day road closures and parking near Westfield or the Park can catch out anyone without local knowledge

For a group with luggage arriving outside the Stansted Express’s hours, the better comparison is a pre-booked chauffeur against a premium app-hailed car – see MILE5’s comparison of Uber Exec against Uber Lux in London.

What Running This Route Has Taught Us

The Stansted Express is honestly the right call for one person catching a daytime train into Liverpool Street – it’s faster and it’s cheaper. Where the car earns its keep is at the edges: the first trains out of London don’t leave until 05:30, or 06:00 Tuesday to Thursday, which misses check-in for the earliest departure wave out of Stansted, and the last train back from the airport leaves at 00:30, so a delayed late arrival lands into no train at all. That gap, in both directions, is where a pre-booked fixed-price car earns its keep over a train ticket – and on an event day at the stadium or arena, a driver who already knows the current closures is worth more than the saving.

Your Driver at Stansted Airport

Stansted has one terminal building – there’s no North or South side to specify, unlike Gatwick. Your driver waits inside the arrivals hall holding a name board, tracking your flight so a delay shifts the pickup time rather than costing you the booking. The Express Set Down area sits right next to the terminal, and the £10 charge there is already built into the fixed price above. Check the arrivals board and MILE5’s own Stansted Airport guide for terminal-specific detail on the day.

Stansted to Stratford Chauffeur – Frequently Asked Questions

How much is a Stansted Airport to Stratford transfer?

Fares start from £178 one way in the E-Class, £260 in the S-Class and £263 in the V-Class, fixed and agreed before you travel, the same in both directions.

Do you cover Stratford to Stansted Airport transfers too?

Yes – every booking runs in both directions at the same fixed price, whether you’re travelling out to Stratford or making the Stratford to Stansted Airport run afterwards.

Is this the same as Stratford-upon-Avon?

No – this route is to Stratford in east London, home to Westfield and the Olympic Park. Stratford-upon-Avon is covered separately on MILE5’s site.

Do event days at the stadium or arena affect the route?

Yes – road closures and drop-off changes around a match or concert can appear with little notice. MILE5 checks the event calendar for your travel date and plans the approach accordingly.

How long does the drive from Stansted Airport to Stratford take?

Around 50 to 70 minutes in normal traffic, one of the quicker routes on MILE5’s London list.

Is the Stansted Express cheaper than a chauffeur to Stratford?

On price alone for one person, yes. It’s about 48 minutes to Liverpool Street, but Stratford still needs a further change, which adds time and doesn’t help with luggage or a group.

What happens if my flight into Stansted is delayed?

Nothing changes on your end. Every Stratford booking is flight-tracked, so a delayed landing shifts your driver’s pickup time automatically rather than costing you the fare or the booking.

Can I book a larger vehicle for a family or group?

Yes – the V-Class seats up to seven with matching luggage space, and at £263 for the whole vehicle that works out at £38 a head for a full group.
