Stansted Airport to Kings Cross Transfer – Fixed Price to Granary Square

A Stansted Airport to Kings Cross transfer is a fixed-price Mercedes chauffeur, around 55 to 75 minutes door to door and from £190 one way, running in both directions 24/7. The return leg, Kings Cross to Stansted Airport, is the same fixed fare and the same route in reverse. Kings Cross sits closest of any central London terminus to the M11 corridor Stansted’s road route runs, which is part of why the fare here is the lowest of any London terminus MILE5 covers.

This journey is one of the routes on our Stansted airport transfers page, which covers every destination we drive from the airport with the same Mercedes fleet, the same met-at-arrivals pickup and the same fixed-price promise.

All prices are fixed and all-inclusive, agreed before you travel, in both directions. Final quote depends on exact pickup or drop-off address, vehicle choice and any additional stops. No surge pricing, no hidden fees.

Every fare includes in-terminal meet-and-greet inside the Stansted arrivals hall, flight tracking so a delayed landing doesn’t cost you the booking, and 60 minutes of complimentary waiting time. The £10 Express Set Down charge at the terminal is absorbed in the price shown, and so is the ULEZ charge and the Congestion Charge where the journey into Kings Cross crosses into the zone – the airport itself sits outside both, the charges belong to the journey, not the pickup. Split seven ways, £281 works out at £40 a head for the whole run, straightforward for a family or a group heading to the same address.

Coal Drops Yard, Granary Square and a Genuine Rail Alternative

Kings Cross has been transformed over the last decade – Coal Drops Yard and Granary Square turned a former industrial goods yard into one of London’s newer retail and public-space destinations, and it’s a different kind of arrival to the station forecourt most people still picture. It’s also worth being upfront about a genuine rail alternative on this specific route: Kings Cross sits on the East Coast Main Line, and changing at Cambridge onto a Great Northern train gets some travellers into Kings Cross without the Liverpool Street Tube change, worth checking on the day depending on your specific journey.

MILE5 covers Kings Cross alongside the other north London stations and districts nearby, including the fixed-price run to Euston, how we price Islington and our Camden transfer.

For a stay at one of the area’s hotels, MILE5 runs the same fixed-price transfer to see our Great Northern Hotel transfer and see our St Pancras Renaissance transfer.

Why the Fare Is the Lowest of Any London Terminus

Kings Cross sits closer to the M11 than any other central London terminus MILE5 covers, which shortens the road route and keeps the fixed fare below every other London terminus page on this site. It’s a genuine geographic advantage rather than a discount, and it’s the same fixed price whether you’re travelling in either direction.

Kings Cross Chauffeur vs the Stansted Express vs a Hire Car

For one person travelling in daylight hours, the honest comparison starts with the train, not the car.

OptionJourney timeWorth knowing
MILE5 chauffeur55-75minDoor to door, fixed price, the lowest London terminus fare MILE5 offers
Stansted Express + change48min to Liverpool St + a changeWins on price and time to Liverpool Street itself, but Kings Cross needs a further Tube change or a change at Cambridge onto the Great Northern line – either way it does nothing for luggage or a group
Hire car55-75minSimilar drive time, but you’re finding parking near the redeveloped Kings Cross area yourself

For a group with luggage arriving outside the Stansted Express’s hours, the better comparison is a pre-booked chauffeur against a minicab booked at short notice – see MILE5’s comparison of Addison Lee against Uber in London.

What Running This Route Has Taught Us

The Stansted Express is honestly the right call for one person catching a daytime train into Liverpool Street – it’s faster and it’s cheaper. Where the car earns its keep is at the edges: the first trains out of Liverpool Street leave at 03:40 on Mondays, Fridays and Saturdays, 04:10 on Sundays and 04:40 Tuesday to Thursday, which is tight for the earliest departure wave out of Stansted, and the last train back from the airport leaves at 00:30, so a delayed late arrival lands into no train at all. That gap, in both directions, is where a pre-booked fixed-price car earns its keep over a train ticket – and on this route specifically, the fixed fare being the cheapest of any London terminus MILE5 runs makes the car case stronger than usual.

Your Driver at Stansted Airport

Stansted has one terminal building – there’s no North or South side to specify, unlike Gatwick. Your driver waits inside the arrivals hall holding a name board, tracking your flight so a delay shifts the pickup time rather than costing you the booking. The Express Set Down area sits right next to the terminal, and the £10 charge there is already built into the fixed price above. Check the arrivals board and MILE5’s own Stansted Airport guide for terminal-specific detail on the day.
