Stansted Airport to Ham Yard Hotel Transfer – Fixed Price to a Soho Courtyard

A Stansted Airport to Ham Yard Hotel transfer is a fixed-price Mercedes chauffeur, around 55 to 75 minutes door to door and from £200 one way, running in both directions 24/7. The return leg, Ham Yard Hotel to Stansted Airport, is the same fixed fare and the same route in reverse. Ham Yard sits inside a genuine pedestrian courtyard off Denman Street, in the middle of Soho – which means the car stops short of the hotel itself and the walk-in is part of the arrival.

This journey is one of the routes on our Stansted airport chauffeur page, which covers every destination we drive from the airport with the same Mercedes fleet, the same met-at-arrivals pickup and the same fixed-price promise.

All prices are fixed and all-inclusive, agreed before you travel, in both directions. Final quote depends on exact pickup or drop-off address, vehicle choice and any additional stops. No surge pricing, no hidden fees.

Every fare includes in-terminal meet-and-greet inside the Stansted arrivals hall, flight tracking so a delayed landing doesn’t cost you the booking, and 60 minutes of complimentary waiting time. The £10 Express Set Down charge at the terminal is absorbed in the price shown, and so is the ULEZ charge and the Congestion Charge where the journey into Ham Yard Hotel crosses into the zone – the airport itself sits outside both, the charges belong to the journey, not the pickup. Split seven ways, £297 works out at £42 a head for the whole run – useful for a group heading into Soho together.

Ham Yard – A Courtyard, Not a Street

Ham Yard itself is a genuine pedestrian square tucked off Denman Street, in the dense middle of Soho – not a through-road, and not somewhere a car can pull directly up to the hotel entrance the way it can on an ordinary street. The practical effect is that the final approach is on foot: MILE5 drivers who run this route regularly know the closest legal stopping point on Denman Street or the surrounding one-way system, and the walk in from there is short but genuinely part of arriving at Ham Yard.

Two more hotels sit close by in this cluster – the The Savoy Hotel route page and the One Aldwych pickup page – both a short distance away but with a genuinely different address and approach. For the wider area, see the Covent Garden page for this area.

Soho’s Evening Density

Soho’s streets get genuinely crowded from early evening onward – restaurant queues, bar traffic and pedestrian footfall that slows the final stretch of any pickup or drop-off in the area, Ham Yard included. It’s not a formal closure, just a dense part of London doing what it does on a normal night. MILE5 drivers factor that into the timing rather than treating a Soho evening arrival the same as a quiet Tuesday morning one.

Ham Yard Hotel Chauffeur vs the Stansted Express vs a Hire Car

For one person travelling in daylight hours, the honest comparison starts with the train, not the car.

OptionJourney timeWorth knowing
MILE5 chauffeur55-75minDoor to door as far as the courtyard allows, fixed price, the short walk-in planned around in advance
Stansted Express + Underground48min to Liverpool St + a changeWins on price for one person, but Soho needs a further Underground leg from Liverpool Street – a poor fit with luggage
Hire car55-75minSimilar drive time, but parking anywhere near Ham Yard is genuinely difficult given the pedestrian courtyard, on top of the ULEZ and Congestion Charge – both already built into MILE5’s fixed price

For a group heading into Soho together, the better comparison is a pre-booked chauffeur against a minicab booked at short notice – see MILE5’s comparison of Addison Lee against Uber in London.

What Running This Route Has Taught Us

The Stansted Express is honestly the right call for one person catching a daytime train into Liverpool Street – it’s faster and it’s cheaper, and Soho is only a short further hop by Underground from there. Where the car earns its keep is with luggage or a group heading in for the evening: the last train back from the airport leaves at 00:30, which doesn’t suit a night out in Soho, and a driver who already knows the closest legal stopping point to the Ham Yard courtyard saves working that out on foot in the dark with bags.

Your Driver at Stansted Airport

Stansted has one terminal building – there’s no North or South side to specify, unlike Gatwick. Your driver waits inside the arrivals hall holding a name board, tracking your flight so a delay shifts the pickup time rather than costing you the booking. The Express Set Down area sits right next to the terminal, and the £10 charge there is already built into the fixed price above. Check the arrivals board and MILE5‘s own Stansted Airport guide for terminal-specific detail on the day.

Stansted to Ham Yard Hotel Chauffeur – Frequently Asked Questions

How much is a Stansted Airport to Ham Yard Hotel transfer?

Fares start from £200 one way in the E-Class, £292 in the S-Class and £297 in the V-Class, fixed and agreed before you travel, the same in both directions.

Do you cover Ham Yard Hotel to Stansted Airport transfers too?

Yes – every booking runs in both directions at the same fixed price, whether you’re travelling out to Ham Yard or making the Ham Yard Hotel to Stansted Airport run afterwards.

Can the car drop off right at the hotel entrance?

Not quite – Ham Yard is a pedestrian courtyard, so the car stops on Denman Street or the surrounding streets and there’s a short walk in. MILE5 drivers know the closest legal stopping point.

How long does the drive from Stansted Airport to Ham Yard Hotel take?

Around 55 to 75 minutes in normal traffic, running the M11 before crossing central London.

Is the Stansted Express cheaper than a chauffeur to Ham Yard?

On price alone for one person, yes. It’s about 48 minutes to Liverpool Street, but Soho needs a further Underground change from there, which doesn’t help with luggage.

Does Soho get busy in the evening?

Yes – the streets around Ham Yard get genuinely crowded from early evening, which can slow the final stretch of a pickup or drop-off. MILE5 drivers factor this into the timing.

What happens if my flight into Stansted is delayed?

Nothing changes on your end. Every Ham Yard Hotel booking is flight-tracked, so a delayed landing shifts your driver’s pickup time automatically rather than costing you the fare or the booking.

Can I book a larger vehicle for a group?

Yes – the V-Class seats up to seven with matching luggage space, and at £297 for the whole vehicle that works out at £42 a head for a full group.
