Stansted Airport to Hackney Transfer – Fixed Price, a Residential East London Route
A Stansted Airport to Hackney transfer is a fixed-price Mercedes chauffeur, around 50 to 70 minutes door to door and from £181 one way, running in both directions 24/7. The return leg, Hackney to Stansted Airport, is the same fixed fare and the same route in reverse. This is a residential route above all – most bookings here are visiting family or friends rather than heading to an office or a hotel.
This journey is one of the routes on our Stansted airport transfers page, which covers every destination we drive from the airport with the same Mercedes fleet, the same met-at-arrivals pickup and the same fixed-price promise.

Hackney sits close to 31 miles south-west of Stansted Airport – see the complete Stansted to London page for every other district MILE5 covers. The route follows the M11 south and then crosses the Lea Valley into east London, and in normal traffic that’s around 50 to 70 minutes.

All prices are fixed and all-inclusive, agreed before you travel, in both directions. Final quote depends on exact pickup or drop-off address, vehicle choice and any additional stops. No surge pricing, no hidden fees.
Every fare includes in-terminal meet-and-greet inside the Stansted arrivals hall, flight tracking so a delayed landing doesn’t cost you the booking, and 60 minutes of complimentary waiting time. The £10 Express Set Down charge at the terminal is absorbed in the price shown, and so is the ULEZ charge and the Congestion Charge where the journey into Hackney crosses into the zone – the airport itself sits outside both, the charges belong to the journey, not the pickup. Split seven ways, £268 works out at £38 a head for the whole run, straightforward for a family or a group heading to the same address.
Residential East London: Visiting Family and Friends
Hackney is one of the more genuinely residential destinations on MILE5’s London list. London Fields, Broadway Market and Victoria Park sit at the centre of a borough that’s grown into one of east London’s most sought-after places to live, and the bookings reflect it – far more visits to a home address to see family or friends than to an office or a conference hotel. That changes what a driver needs to know: postcode-level detail on one-way residential streets matters more here than it does dropping at a single well-signed venue.
MILE5 covers Hackney alongside the neighbouring City, Clerkenwell and east London districts, including how we price The City of London, the Clerkenwell chauffeur transfer and the Stansted to Shoreditch page.
The Lea Valley Approach
The road route into Hackney runs the M11 south and then crosses the Lea Valley, past the marshes and reservoirs that separate the outer suburbs from inner east London, before crossing into the borough itself. It’s a quieter final stretch than the North Circular approach most of MILE5’s other London routes take, and one reason the drive time here tends to sit at the shorter end of the London list.
Hackney Chauffeur vs the Stansted Express vs a Hire Car
For one person travelling in daylight hours, the honest comparison starts with the train, not the car.
| Option | Journey time | Worth knowing |
|---|---|---|
| MILE5 chauffeur | 50-70min | Door to door, fixed price, comfortable with residential streets and one-way systems |
| Stansted Express + change | 48min to Liverpool St + a change | Wins on price and time to Liverpool Street itself, but Hackney needs a further Overground or bus change – fine for one person without luggage, less so visiting family with bags |
| Hire car | 50-70min | Similar drive time, but finding parking on Hackney’s residential streets is genuinely difficult, and central London’s congestion charge and ULEZ can apply depending on the exact address – both already built into MILE5’s fixed price where they apply |
For a family visit with luggage, or arriving outside the Stansted Express’s hours, the better comparison is a pre-booked chauffeur against a minicab booked at short notice – see MILE5’s look at why travellers choose a chauffeur over Uber.
What Running This Route Has Taught Us
The Stansted Express is honestly the right call for one person catching a daytime train into Liverpool Street – it’s faster and it’s cheaper. Where the car earns its keep is at the edges: the first trains out of Liverpool Street leave at 03:40 on Mondays, Fridays and Saturdays, 04:10 on Sundays and 04:40 Tuesday to Thursday, which is tight for the earliest departure wave out of Stansted, and the last train back from the airport leaves at 00:30, so a delayed late arrival lands into no train at all. That gap, in both directions, is where a pre-booked fixed-price car earns its keep over a train ticket plus an Overground change – and turning up to see family with luggage, knowing the driver will find the actual front door matters as much as the saving.
Your Driver at Stansted Airport
Stansted has one terminal building – there’s no North or South side to specify, unlike Gatwick. Your driver waits inside the arrivals hall holding a name board, tracking your flight so a delay shifts the pickup time rather than costing you the booking. The Express Set Down area sits right next to the terminal, and the £10 charge there is already built into the fixed price above. Check the arrivals board and MILE5’s own Stansted Airport guide for terminal-specific detail on the day.

Stansted to Hackney Chauffeur – Frequently Asked Questions
How much is a Stansted Airport to Hackney transfer?
Fares start from £181 one way in the E-Class, £264 in the S-Class and £268 in the V-Class, fixed and agreed before you travel, the same in both directions.
Do you cover Hackney to Stansted Airport transfers too?
Yes – every booking runs in both directions at the same fixed price, whether you’re travelling out to Hackney or making the Hackney to Stansted Airport run afterwards.
Is this route mostly for visiting family or friends?
Yes – Hackney is one of the more residential destinations MILE5 covers, and most bookings here are visits to a home address rather than an office or hotel.
How long does the drive from Stansted Airport to Hackney take?
Around 50 to 70 minutes in normal traffic, running the M11 south and then across the Lea Valley.
Is the Stansted Express cheaper than a chauffeur to Hackney?
On price alone for one person, yes. It’s about 48 minutes to Liverpool Street, but Hackney still needs a further Overground or bus change, which adds time and isn’t ideal with luggage visiting family.
Can my driver find a specific residential address in Hackney?
Yes – MILE5’s drivers regularly work Hackney’s residential streets and one-way systems, and will confirm the exact address with you before the pickup.
What happens if my flight into Stansted is delayed?
Nothing changes on your end. Every Hackney booking is flight-tracked, so a delayed landing shifts your driver’s pickup time automatically rather than costing you the fare or the booking.
Can I book a larger vehicle for a family or group?
Yes – the V-Class seats up to seven with matching luggage space, and at £268 for the whole vehicle that works out at £38 a head for a full group.
