Stansted Airport to Greenwich Transfer – Fixed Price to the Observatory and the Park

A Stansted Airport to Greenwich transfer is a fixed-price Mercedes chauffeur, around 55 to 75 minutes door to door and from £190 one way, running in both directions 24/7. The return leg, Greenwich to Stansted Airport, is the same fixed fare and the same route in reverse. This is a leisure and heritage route above all – maritime Greenwich, the Royal Observatory and the park are the reason most people book it.

This journey is one of the routes on our Stansted chauffeur service page, which covers every destination we drive from the airport with the same Mercedes fleet, the same met-at-arrivals pickup and the same fixed-price promise.

Greenwich sits close to 35 miles south-west of Stansted Airport – one of every London district we cover from Stansted. The route runs the M11 before crossing the river, and in normal traffic that’s around 55 to 75 minutes.

All prices are fixed and all-inclusive, agreed before you travel, in both directions. Final quote depends on exact pickup or drop-off address, vehicle choice and any additional stops. No surge pricing, no hidden fees.

Every fare includes in-terminal meet-and-greet inside the Stansted arrivals hall, flight tracking so a delayed landing doesn’t cost you the booking, and 60 minutes of complimentary waiting time. The £10 Express Set Down charge at the terminal is absorbed in the price shown, and so is the ULEZ charge and the Congestion Charge where the journey into Greenwich crosses into the zone – the airport itself sits outside both, the charges belong to the journey, not the pickup. Split seven ways, £282 works out at £41 a head for the whole run, straightforward for a family or a group heading to the same address.

Maritime Greenwich: the Observatory, the Park and Cutty Sark

Greenwich is one of the few places on MILE5’s London list that’s a destination in its own right rather than a place people simply pass through. The Royal Observatory sits at the top of Greenwich Park, straddling the Prime Meridian – the line that defines Greenwich Mean Time and 0° longitude – with views back over the park and the river that are worth the walk up the hill alone. Below it, the National Maritime Museum, the Old Royal Naval College and the preserved tea clipper Cutty Sark sit within a few minutes’ walk of each other, and Greenwich Market runs most days of the week alongside them. It’s a genuinely walkable day out, not a single stop.

MILE5 covers Greenwich alongside the nearby Docklands, events and riverside destinations, including book Canary Wharf from Stansted, the drive to Stratford, the The O2 pickup page and the drive to London Bridge.

A Day Out, Not a Business Stop

Unlike most of the destinations on this list, Greenwich isn’t primarily a business or hotel booking – it’s overwhelmingly a leisure trip, whether that’s a family day at the park and the Observatory, a group heading to the market, or visitors combining Greenwich with a river trip back into central London. MILE5’s driver drops at the address that suits the day rather than a fixed terminus, which matters more here than on a straightforward city-centre run.

Greenwich Chauffeur vs the Stansted Express vs a Hire Car

For one person travelling in daylight hours, the honest comparison starts with the train, not the car.

OptionJourney timeWorth knowing
MILE5 chauffeur55-75minDoor to door, fixed price, drops at the park, the market or the pier as suits the day
Stansted Express + change48min to Liverpool St + a changeWins on price and time to Liverpool Street itself, but Greenwich needs a further DLR or rail change – fine for one person without luggage, less so for a family with a pushchair and a day’s kit
Hire car55-75minSimilar drive time, but parking near the park on a busy day is genuinely difficult and the ULEZ applies on top – already built into MILE5’s fixed price

For a family or group with a full day planned, the better comparison is a pre-booked chauffeur against a minicab booked at short notice – see MILE5’s comparison of Uber against Bolt in London.

What Running This Route Has Taught Us

The Stansted Express is honestly the right call for one person catching a daytime train into Liverpool Street – it’s faster and it’s cheaper. Where the car earns its keep is at the edges: the first trains out of Liverpool Street leave at 03:40 on Mondays, Fridays and Saturdays, 04:10 on Sundays and 04:40 Tuesday to Thursday, which is tight for the earliest departure wave out of Stansted, and the last train back from the airport leaves at 00:30, so a delayed late arrival lands into no train at all. That gap, in both directions, is where a pre-booked fixed-price car earns its keep over a train ticket – and for a family heading to the park with a pushchair and bags for the day, skipping the DLR change matters as much as the money.

Your Driver at Stansted Airport

Stansted has one terminal building – there’s no North or South side to specify, unlike Gatwick. Your driver waits inside the arrivals hall holding a name board, tracking your flight so a delay shifts the pickup time rather than costing you the booking. The Express Set Down area sits right next to the terminal, and the £10 charge there is already built into the fixed price above. Check the arrivals board and MILE5’s own Stansted Airport guide for terminal-specific detail on the day.

Stansted to Greenwich Chauffeur – Frequently Asked Questions

How much is a Stansted Airport to Greenwich transfer?

Fares start from £190 one way in the E-Class, £278 in the S-Class and £282 in the V-Class, fixed and agreed before you travel, the same in both directions.

Do you cover Greenwich to Stansted Airport transfers too?

Yes – every booking runs in both directions at the same fixed price, whether you’re travelling out to Greenwich or making the Greenwich to Stansted Airport run afterwards.

Is Greenwich a good day trip from Stansted Airport?

Yes – the Royal Observatory, Greenwich Park, the National Maritime Museum, the Old Royal Naval College and Cutty Sark all sit within a short walk of each other, making it one of the more self-contained day-out destinations on MILE5’s London list.

How long does the drive from Stansted Airport to Greenwich take?

Around 55 to 75 minutes in normal traffic, running the M11 before crossing the river.

Is the Stansted Express cheaper than a chauffeur to Greenwich?

On price alone for one person, yes. It’s about 48 minutes to Liverpool Street, but Greenwich still needs a further DLR or rail change, which adds time and isn’t ideal with a pushchair or a family’s day kit.

Can my driver drop me at the park, the market or the pier?

Yes – Greenwich bookings are treated as a leisure trip, so the driver drops wherever suits your day rather than a single fixed point.

What happens if my flight into Stansted is delayed?

Nothing changes on your end. Every Greenwich booking is flight-tracked, so a delayed landing shifts your driver’s pickup time automatically rather than costing you the fare or the booking.

Can I book a larger vehicle for a family or group?

Yes – the V-Class seats up to seven with matching luggage space, and at £282 for the whole vehicle that works out at £41 a head for a full group.
