Stansted Airport to Clerkenwell Transfer – Fixed Price to Farringdon and Hatton Garden

A Stansted Airport to Clerkenwell transfer is a fixed-price Mercedes chauffeur, around 55 to 75 minutes door to door and from £188 one way, running in both directions 24/7. The return leg, Clerkenwell to Stansted Airport, is the same fixed fare and the same route in reverse. This page covers Clerkenwell and Farringdon as a working district – design studios, architecture practices and the jewellery trade around Hatton Garden – not any single hotel.

This journey is one of the routes on our luxury Stansted airport transfer page, which covers every destination we drive from the airport with the same Mercedes fleet, the same met-at-arrivals pickup and the same fixed-price promise.

Clerkenwell sits close to 34 miles south-west of Stansted Airport – see the complete Stansted to London page for every other district MILE5 covers. The route runs the M11 before crossing into central London, and in normal traffic that’s around 55 to 75 minutes.

All prices are fixed and all-inclusive, agreed before you travel, in both directions. Final quote depends on exact pickup or drop-off address, vehicle choice and any additional stops. No surge pricing, no hidden fees.

Every fare includes in-terminal meet-and-greet inside the Stansted arrivals hall, flight tracking so a delayed landing doesn’t cost you the booking, and 60 minutes of complimentary waiting time. The £10 Express Set Down charge at the terminal is absorbed in the price shown, and so is the ULEZ charge and the Congestion Charge where the journey into Clerkenwell crosses into the zone – the airport itself sits outside both, the charges belong to the journey, not the pickup. Split seven ways, £279 works out at £40 a head for the whole run, useful for a team travelling in together for the same meeting.

Farringdon, Hatton Garden and the Design Trade

Clerkenwell built its name on precision trades – clockmaking and printing historically, and jewellery still today at Hatton Garden, London’s long-standing centre for diamonds and fine jewellery, packed into a single short street of specialist workshops and traders. Around it, the district’s old warehouses and factory buildings have become some of London’s best-known addresses for architecture practices and design studios, drawing a steady flow of daytime business bookings that has little to do with tourism or hotel stays. It’s a working district first, and the traffic reflects that.

MILE5 covers Clerkenwell alongside the wider City, Clerkenwell and east fringe cluster, including our The City of London transfer, book Shoreditch from Stansted and transfers to Hackney.

For a stay at one of the area’s hotels, MILE5 runs the same fixed-price transfer to the The Zetter Hotel district page.

A Working District, Not a Hotel Address

Because Clerkenwell’s identity is built around trade and design rather than a single landmark, MILE5’s bookings here tend to be far more precise about the destination – a specific studio, a workshop on Hatton Garden, or an office address off Clerkenwell Green – than a booking to a well-known hotel or venue. Drivers confirm the exact address before pickup rather than assuming a single default drop-off point.

Clerkenwell Chauffeur vs the Stansted Express vs a Hire Car

For one person travelling in daylight hours, the honest comparison starts with the train, not the car.

OptionJourney timeWorth knowing
MILE5 chauffeur55-75minDoor to door, fixed price, confirms the exact studio, workshop or office address before pickup
Stansted Express + change48min to Liverpool St + a changeWins on price and time to Liverpool Street itself, but Clerkenwell needs a further Tube or short walk – workable for one person, less so with samples, kit or a group
Hire car55-75minSimilar drive time, but parking near Hatton Garden or Clerkenwell’s older streets is genuinely difficult, on top of the ULEZ and Congestion Charge – both already built into MILE5’s fixed price

For a team travelling in together, or an early meeting before the working day starts, the better comparison is a pre-booked chauffeur against a minicab booked at short notice – see MILE5’s look at why travellers choose a chauffeur over Uber.

What Running This Route Has Taught Us

The Stansted Express is honestly the right call for one person catching a daytime train into Liverpool Street – it’s faster and it’s cheaper. Where the car earns its keep is at the edges: the first trains out of London don’t leave until 05:30, or 06:00 Tuesday to Thursday, which misses check-in for the earliest departure wave out of Stansted, and the last train back from the airport leaves at 00:30, so a delayed late arrival lands into no train at all. That gap, in both directions, is where a pre-booked fixed-price car earns its keep over a train ticket – and carrying samples or kit to a Hatton Garden workshop, a driver who confirms the exact address in advance is worth more than the saving.

Your Driver at Stansted Airport

Stansted has one terminal building – there’s no North or South side to specify, unlike Gatwick. Your driver waits inside the arrivals hall holding a name board, tracking your flight so a delay shifts the pickup time rather than costing you the booking. The Express Set Down area sits right next to the terminal, and the £10 charge there is already built into the fixed price above. Check the arrivals board and MILE5’s own Stansted Airport guide for terminal-specific detail on the day.

Stansted to Clerkenwell Chauffeur – Frequently Asked Questions

How much is a Stansted Airport to Clerkenwell transfer?

Fares start from £188 one way in the E-Class, £274 in the S-Class and £279 in the V-Class, fixed and agreed before you travel, the same in both directions.

Do you cover Clerkenwell to Stansted Airport transfers too?

Yes – every booking runs in both directions at the same fixed price, whether you’re travelling out to Clerkenwell or making the Clerkenwell to Stansted Airport run afterwards.

Is this page about a specific hotel?

No – this page covers Clerkenwell and Farringdon as a working district, including Hatton Garden’s jewellery trade and the area’s design studios. MILE5 also runs a fixed-price transfer to The Zetter Hotel specifically.

How long does the drive from Stansted Airport to Clerkenwell take?

Around 55 to 75 minutes in normal traffic, running the M11 before crossing into central London.

Is the Stansted Express cheaper than a chauffeur to Clerkenwell?

On price alone for one person, yes. It’s about 48 minutes to Liverpool Street, but Clerkenwell still needs a further Tube leg or a walk, which doesn’t help with luggage, samples or a group.

Can my driver find a specific workshop or studio address?

Yes – tell MILE5 the exact address and the driver will confirm it before pickup rather than assuming a single default drop-off point for the area.

What happens if my flight into Stansted is delayed?

Nothing changes on your end. Every Clerkenwell booking is flight-tracked, so a delayed landing shifts your driver’s pickup time automatically rather than costing you the fare or the booking.

Can I book a larger vehicle for a team travelling together?

Yes – the V-Class seats up to seven with matching luggage space, and at £279 for the whole vehicle that works out at £40 a head for a full group.
