Stansted Airport to Chelsea Transfer – Fixed Price, the Kings Road and Sloane Square
A Stansted Airport to Chelsea transfer is a fixed-price Mercedes chauffeur, around 65 to 90 minutes door to door and from £206 one way, running in both directions 24/7. The return leg, Chelsea to Stansted Airport, is the same fixed fare and the same route in reverse.
This journey is one of the routes on our Stansted airport transfers page, which covers every destination we drive from the airport with the same Mercedes fleet, the same met-at-arrivals pickup and the same fixed-price promise.

Chelsea sits around 42 miles west of Stansted Airport, one of the destinations covered on the Stansted to London hub. The route runs the M11 and the North Circular before crossing south-west towards the river, and in normal traffic that’s around 65 to 90 minutes. During Chelsea Flower Show week in late May, the approach roads around the Royal Hospital grounds are worth building extra time into either direction.

All prices are fixed and all-inclusive, agreed before you travel, in both directions. Final quote depends on exact pickup or drop-off address, vehicle choice and any additional stops. No surge pricing, no hidden fees.
Every fare includes in-terminal meet-and-greet inside the Stansted arrivals hall, flight tracking so a delayed landing doesn’t cost you the booking, and 60 minutes of complimentary waiting time. The £10 Express Set Down charge at the terminal is absorbed in the price shown, and so is the ULEZ charge and the Congestion Charge where the journey into Chelsea crosses into the zone – the airport itself sits outside both, the charges belong to the journey, not the pickup. Split seven ways, £307 works out at £44 a head for the whole run, straightforward for a family or a group heading to the same address.
The Kings Road, Sloane Square and Flower Show Week
Chelsea runs on the Kings Road – once the centre of Swinging London and punk fashion, now a retail stretch running from Sloane Square down towards World’s End, with Peter Jones anchoring the square itself. Behind the shopfronts sit some of the quietest garden squares in London, which is why Chelsea reads as residential first and retail second. The Royal Hospital grounds host the Chelsea Flower Show every late May, and for that one week the surrounding streets and approach roads are rerouted around the show itself.
MILE5 covers Chelsea alongside the wider west London cluster, including our Notting Hill transfer service and our Kensington page – book any of the three and the fixed price and the meet-and-greet at Stansted work exactly the same way.
Why Flower Show Week Changes the Route
The road closures around the Royal Hospital during Chelsea Flower Show week catch out drivers who haven’t checked the diversion in advance, and the same applies on the Saturdays either side of it when the crowds are heaviest. MILE5 checks the week’s road closures before confirming a drop-off point rather than routing you into a road that’s been closed since the morning. For a hotel stay in the area, that same local knowledge covers the The Cadogan page for this area.
Chelsea Chauffeur vs the Stansted Express vs a Hire Car
For one person travelling in daylight hours, the honest comparison starts with the train, not the car.
| Option | Journey time | Worth knowing |
|---|---|---|
| MILE5 chauffeur | 65-90min | Door to door, fixed price, briefed on Flower Show week road closures |
| Stansted Express | 48min to Liverpool St + a change | Wins on price and time to Liverpool Street itself, but Chelsea needs a change onto the Underground or a further cab ride – add 30-40 minutes and it does nothing for luggage or a group |
| Hire car | 65-90min | Similar drive time, but you’re finding the Flower Show diversions and the residential parking rules yourself |
For a group with luggage arriving outside the Stansted Express’s hours, the better comparison is a pre-booked chauffeur against an app-based ride hailed at the kerb – see MILE5’s comparison of Addison Lee against Uber.
What Running This Route Has Taught Us
The Stansted Express is honestly the right call for one person catching a daytime train into Liverpool Street – it’s faster and it’s cheaper. Where the car earns its keep is at the edges: the first trains out of Liverpool Street leave at 03:40 on Mondays, Fridays and Saturdays, 04:10 on Sundays and 04:40 Tuesday to Thursday, which is tight for the earliest departure wave out of Stansted, and the last train back from the airport leaves at 00:30, so a delayed late arrival lands into no train at all. That gap, in both directions, is where a pre-booked fixed-price car earns its keep over a train ticket.
Your Driver at Stansted Airport
Stansted has one terminal building – there’s no North or South side to specify, unlike Gatwick. Your driver waits inside the arrivals hall holding a name board, tracking your flight so a delay shifts the pickup time rather than costing you the booking. The Express Set Down area sits right next to the terminal, and the £10 charge there is already built into the fixed price above. Check the arrivals board and MILE5’s own Stansted Airport guide for terminal-specific detail on the day.

Stansted to Chelsea Chauffeur – Frequently Asked Questions
How much is a Stansted Airport to Chelsea transfer?
Fares start from £206 one way in the E-Class, £300 in the S-Class and £307 in the V-Class, fixed and agreed before you travel, the same in both directions.
Do you cover Chelsea to Stansted Airport transfers too?
Yes – every booking runs in both directions at the same fixed price, whether you’re travelling out to Chelsea or making the Chelsea to Stansted Airport run afterwards.
Does the Chelsea Flower Show change the pickup or drop-off?
It can. The roads around the Royal Hospital grounds are rerouted for show week in late May, so MILE5 checks the current closures before confirming your exact drop-off rather than routing you into a closed road.
How long does the drive from Stansted Airport to Chelsea take?
Around 65 to 90 minutes in normal traffic, depending on the time of day and conditions on the North Circular.
Is the Stansted Express cheaper than a chauffeur to Chelsea?
On price alone for one person, yes. It’s about 48 minutes to Liverpool Street, but Chelsea still needs a further change or a cab from the nearest station, which adds time and doesn’t help with luggage or a group travelling together.
What happens if my flight into Stansted is delayed?
Nothing changes on your end. Every Chelsea booking is flight-tracked, so a delayed landing shifts your driver’s pickup time automatically rather than costing you the fare or the booking.
Can I book a larger vehicle for a family or group?
Yes – the V-Class seats up to seven with matching luggage space, and at £307 for the whole vehicle that works out at £44 a head for a full group.
Where does my driver meet me at Stansted Airport?
Inside the arrivals hall, holding a name board, for every Chelsea booking. Stansted has a single terminal, so there’s no terminal number or side to specify.
