Your Stansted Airport Chauffeur, Met at Arrivals

A Stansted Airport chauffeur transfer with MILE5 is a fixed-price Mercedes car, met at arrivals with a flight-tracked pickup, running from £76 one way to Bishop’s Stortford and covering London hotels, central London and destinations well beyond, in both directions, 24 hours a day. The same fixed-price chauffeur service runs from Heathrow, Gatwick, Luton and London City, and between any two London airports.

Stansted sits off the M11 at junction 8, roughly 40 road miles north-east of central London, and every route out of it runs a different road: the M11 and A406 or A10 corridors into the city, the A120 into Essex, the M25 out to Kent or the Thames Valley. MILE5 quotes each of those routes as a fixed price before you travel, not a meter that climbs with the traffic. The honest alternative is the Stansted Express – about 48 minutes to Liverpool Street, a train every 15 minutes – and for one person travelling light in the middle of the day, it’s the cheaper option and MILE5 says so plainly. Where the car earns its place is everything the train can’t do: a 04:30 alarm before the first departure, a delayed arrival after the last train has gone, a group with luggage, or an address the Underground doesn’t reach.

MILE5 is a TfL-licensed private hire operator, licence 009161, with 15+ years and 50,000 completed airport transfers behind it. The Google rating sits at five stars from real riders – read what our clients say – and every driver arrives holding a name board inside the arrivals hall rather than waiting in a car park. Chauffeur, not taxi: MILE5’s Mercedes fleet and its flight-tracked scheduling is the whole basis of the MILE5 service, at Stansted as everywhere else it operates. For terminal layout, security queues and what to expect on the day, MILE5 also keeps a full Stansted Airport guide and a dedicated flight and taxi information page covering delay handling route by route.

Stansted Airport Chauffeur Pricing

VehicleCapacityFromBook

S-ClassUp to 3 passengers, premiumPriced by routeBook
V-ClassUp to 7 passengersPriced by routeBook

£76 is MILE5’s lowest confirmed Stansted fare (E-Class, Bishop’s Stortford); S-Class and V-Class are fixed per route – see your destination’s page for the exact fare. All prices are fixed, all inclusive, and start from the amounts shown. Final quote depends on exact postcode, vehicle choice, and any additional stops. No surge pricing, no hidden fees.

Every fixed price includes in-terminal meet-and-greet in the arrivals hall, flight tracking so a delayed landing doesn’t cost you the booking, 60 minutes of complimentary waiting time, and the £10 Express Set Down charge absorbed rather than passed on. Journeys into central London carry MILE5’s own ULEZ and Congestion Charge costs, not yours – both are built into the fare shown. Luggage handling, child seats on request at an extra charge and 24-hour availability apply across the whole network, not just on selected routes.

If someone is dropping you off instead, our guide to the Stansted drop-off charge explains the £10 and £28 rates and the payment deadline.

Where MILE5 Takes You From Stansted

Stansted routes split three ways, and each has its own page with a full fare table for every destination in it. Stansted Airport hotel transfers covers the London hotel run, from £187, for guests who want the car waiting at the door of the hotel rather than the station. Stansted Airport to central London transfers covers the city’s districts individually, from £178, built around the honest comparison with the Stansted Express rather than around avoiding it. Stansted Airport long-distance transfers covers the ground the Underground never will – Cambridge, Essex, Hertfordshire, Suffolk, Norfolk and beyond – from £76, built on Stansted’s own regional catchment rather than London’s.

Popular Stansted Routes

The Stansted to Cambridge transfer is the busiest single route out of the airport – a straight run up the M11 that student arrivals, conference delegates and family visits all lean on, and the one MILE5 built its V-Class economics around. Business travel keeps Stansted to Liverpool Street, Stansted to Canary Wharf and Stansted to Stratford in near-constant demand, three addresses the Stansted Express itself calls at or near, which makes the honest car-versus-train case sharpest on exactly these routes. Stansted to The O2 carries the concert and events traffic, where a V-Class splitting the fare across a group beats a taxi rank queue after a 23:00 finish. Stansted to Bishop’s Stortford is the shortest run MILE5 will do from the airport – five miles, roughly fifteen minutes – and the cheapest Stansted fare we offer. Stansted to Windsor crosses the M25 west for Legoland trips and Thames Valley business, a genuine two-hour-plus corridor where a fixed-price car beats three changes on the rail network. And Stansted to Southampton Cruise Terminal is the one route on this list with almost no rail equivalent worth naming – cruise passengers with cases for a fortnight, going airport to quay in one booking.

Private Aviation at Stansted

Stansted’s airfield carries two dedicated business aviation terminals alongside the main passenger building: Harrods Aviation and Inflite Jet Centre, both used for private and executive jet arrivals rather than scheduled flights. MILE5 runs chauffeur transfers to and from both, met airside-adjacent rather than in the main arrivals hall, with the same fixed-price Mercedes fleet and the same flight-tracked timing a scheduled-flight passenger gets. It’s a small, specific piece of Stansted traffic, but a real one – private aviation passengers landing at either terminal want a car that already knows Stansted has two private terminals as well as one public one, not a driver working it out from the car park.

Who Uses a MILE5 Stansted Airport Chauffeur

Stansted is Ryanair’s largest base and an early-morning airport: a 06:00 departure wave, late arrivals after the last train, and a catchment that runs up the M11 to Cambridge as much as down to London. Here is how a MILE5 Stansted chauffeur transfer works for each type of passenger.

Solo Business Traveller

The Stansted Express only reaches Liverpool Street. If the meeting is in Canary Wharf, Westminster or a hotel in the West End, that is a second journey with a case. An E-Class chauffeur is inside the single arrivals hall with a name board, the M11 and A406 are planned around your landing time, and the cabin is quiet enough for calls.

Our Stansted to Liverpool Street route runs from £195 and Stansted to Canary Wharf from £189. Companies with regular Stansted traffic use a MILE5 business account for monthly billing and multi-booker access.

Cambridge and the M11 Corridor

Stansted is Cambridge’s airport in all but name: under 30 miles straight up the M11, with no London crossing at all. Academics, tech and life-science visitors, and families visiting students all arrive here rather than at Heathrow, and a chauffeur removes the coach or the two-train change.

Stansted to Cambridge is a fixed price from £173, met at arrivals and delivered to the college, the Science Park or the address you give us.

Family Returning from Holiday

Five people, five cases and a pushchair landing at 23:40 is where the rail change and the taxi rank queue hurt most. The V-Class seats up to seven with a full luggage load, child seats are fitted before pickup, and your chauffeur is inside the hall whatever time the flight actually lands.

Families heading into town use our Stansted hotel transfers, which cover every major London area with fixed prices from £187 and hotel-specific delivery notes.

Cruise and Long-Distance Passengers

Stansted is a long way from the south coast, which is exactly why a direct chauffeur matters: Stansted to Southampton Cruise Terminal is 125 miles and from £378, booked to your named terminal with the ship’s boarding time in the plan. Windsor is from £264.

Essex, Hertfordshire, Suffolk and Norfolk routes, and the national destinations, are on our Stansted long-distance transfers page, from £173.

Connecting Flight Passenger

A low-cost arrival at Stansted connecting to a long-haul from Heathrow is the connection that catches people out: 65 miles round the M25, no direct rail link, and a missed connection that costs more than the transfer. A chauffeur tracks both flights and drives it directly.

Heathrow to Stansted is from £259 and Gatwick to Stansted from £273. Every pairing is on our airport to airport transfers page.

Private Aviation and VIPs

Stansted’s two business aviation terminals, Harrods Aviation and Inflite Jet Centre, sit away from the main building. MILE5 collects from both, timed to your handling agent rather than an arrivals board, with the S-Class for principals and the V-Class for crews and entourages.

Discreet chauffeurs who know the FBO gates, and group bookings arranged through one account with consolidated invoicing.

For one person landing in the middle of the day with hand luggage and a straight run to Liverpool Street, the train wins outright and MILE5 won’t pretend otherwise. What the timetable doesn’t cover is the 06:00-07:00 departure wave that Ryanair’s largest base creates on the way out, or a delayed late landing that arrives after the 00:30 last train home – both send passengers to a taxi rank or a very long wait, which is exactly the gap the pre-booked car is built to close, in both directions.

Flying early? Our Stansted early-flight guide explains the overnight terminal closure and when check-in opens for each airline.

What Running This Network Has Taught Us

The single biggest driver of a bad Stansted transfer isn’t the road, it’s the terminal works. The airport has been mid-expansion for the best part of two years, and pickup points shift more often here than at MILE5’s other London airports – drivers confirm the current arrivals meeting point each morning rather than trusting last week’s. The second lesson is about the Express Set Down charge: passengers who don’t know Stansted operates a paid drop-off next to the terminal are the ones who get caught out driving themselves, which is one more reason a chauffeur who already has it built into the fare is simpler than working it out on the day. The third is geography – Stansted genuinely uses the M25 on a meaningful share of its routes, out to Kent and the Thames Valley, in a way MILE5’s other London airports don’t, so journey times that look identical to a competitor’s on paper aren’t always identical in practice.

Picking Up at Stansted Airport

Stansted has one terminal building – there’s no North or South side to specify, no numbered satellite to guess at. Your driver waits inside the arrivals hall holding a name board, tracking your flight so a delay doesn’t affect your pickup time or cost you the booking. Most passengers reach the hall 20 to 60 minutes after landing, and our Stansted arrivals timing guide explains what sets the pace. The rail station sits directly below the terminal, and the Express Set Down area – MILE5’s absorbed £10 charge – is right next to the building itself, not a shuttle-bus walk away. Check the arrivals board and MILE5’s own Stansted Airport guide for terminal-specific detail on the day; both carry more day-of-travel colour than belongs on a route page.

Passengers connecting onward between airports – a Gatwick to Stansted transfer or a Heathrow to Stansted transfer – book the same fixed-price Mercedes service, flight-tracked at both ends rather than timed against a single arrivals board.

Common Stansted Transfer Mistakes, and How to Avoid Them

Most Stansted transfer problems are not caused by the M11. They are caused by decisions made before the flight lands. These are the ones our chauffeurs see most often.

Before that comes the queue itself: the airport’s own figures and the FastTrack rules are in our guide to Stansted security waits. Leave time after security too: our guide to Stansted’s gates shows which are a train ride and which are a walk of up to 15 minutes.

Mistake 1: Assuming the Stansted Express gets you to your door. It runs to Liverpool Street only, about 48 minutes, every 15 minutes, first train 05:30 (06:00 Tuesday to Thursday) and last train 00:30. Anywhere that is not Liverpool Street means a second leg with your luggage, and a flight outside those hours means no train at all. A pre-booked Stansted chauffeur is one car, one fixed price, to the address.

Mistake 2: Booking a ride-hailing app and expecting the car at the door. App drivers cannot wait on the Stansted forecourt. They collect from the car parks, which means a walk with your luggage, a phone call to find the right level, and a car park charge added to the fare. A MILE5 chauffeur is inside the arrivals hall holding a name board. You walk to him, not the other way round.

Mistake 3: Not budgeting for the drop-off charge. Stansted’s Express Set Down charges £10 for 15 minutes and £28 beyond that. A metered driver waiting while a family unloads can add it to your bill. Your MILE5 fixed price includes it, and your chauffeur handles the bags so the stop is short.

Mistake 4: Treating “Stansted to London” as one journey time. Stansted is around 40 road miles from central London, and every route runs a different road: the M11 and A406 or A10 into the city, the A120 into Essex, the M25 out to Kent or the Thames Valley. Allow 60 to 90 minutes to central London off-peak, and add 30 to 45 minutes for a weekday morning peak or a Friday afternoon. Plan meetings from your destination, not from a headline figure.

Mistake 5: Booking the wrong vehicle for the luggage. An E-Class carries three passengers with two large suitcases and a cabin bag. Four people with four cases, golf bags or a pushchair need the V-Class. Tell us the luggage count when you book and we will confirm the right car rather than send one that does not fit.

Mistake 6: Leaving the 06:00 departure or the 00:30 arrival to chance. Ryanair’s first wave leaves before the trains are useful, and its last arrivals land after the last train has gone. Both are when the rank queue is longest. A pre-booked Stansted chauffeur is timed to your flight, 24 hours a day, with 60 minutes of free waiting counted from actual landing, so a delay costs you nothing and changes nothing.

Our driver, Mr. Khaled Osmani, was absolutely first rate, a real gentleman and a very good driver. He arrived at Heathrow on schedule, made sure we had rest stops along the way on our long drive from Heathrow to Liverpool and got us to our destination safely and on time. Many, many thanks Mr. Osmani and Mile5! We would book with you again anytime.

Ali was an ideal driver for me. We engaged in conversation all the way. Consequently the trip went by quickly. He arrived about 10 mins early for pick up and he patiently dealt with all of the traffic. I easily give him 5 stars. I couldnt have asked for a better driver. If he takes me to LHR on Mon 21 I would be very happy Thanks for the good service

Really great service. My flight arrived much earlier than expected, but the driver had adjusted to the new arrival time and was already there waiting for me at the airport. The car was spotless and very comfortable, and the driver was friendly and professional. Everything was easy and stress-free. I’d happily use them again.

We used MILE5 Heathrow Airport Transfers 3 times during our holiday in London. The last time was the most critical. Our flight was canceled after sitting on the plane for six hours due to the air traffic control glitch. By the time we found a hotel (took 2 hrs searching online- everything was sold out) and walked out to the taxi line, there were over 150 people waiting for taxis. In a panic, I called MILE5 and they were wonderful. They found a driver and a car and rescued two stranded tourists at 11:30 PM. I can't recommend them enough! I would like to add that MILE5 was $100 cheaper than what the hotel quoted us for their airport transfer.

Excellent booking service, we used Chat GPT as we were in a hurry just as we’re leaving SFO. And GPT did all the booking process except payment where I took over. Communication and confirmation was excellent. Driver was there to meet us at Heathrow with a clean well maintained vehicle. Driving was smooth and defensive. Great experience. Would highly recommend.

I booked two rides with MILE5. Both were very pleasant. I felt very comfortable; the drivers were very friendly and professional, and the rides went smoothly without any issues. I was able to relax and didn't have to do a thing. I'll book them again next time.

After being seriously let down by BA who sold me a flight (ABZ to BKK) with a ridiculously short transfer between LHR and LGW, which entailed baggage collection and re-check in, I came across MILE5 via AI. MILE5’s service from initial contact, through to ease of booking, payment, reassurance that their driver was aware of timescale limitations and ultimately both meet and greet at LHR T5 to drop off at LGW South was 5 star all the way! All of the above and they also got me to check in with half an hour to spare, saving my flight and the start of my holiday in Thailand. I can highly recommend the MILE5 overall service - from initial reactive response, overall value for money, quality of car (a Mercedes E Class) and the safe driving, politeness and efficiency of their driver.

Stansted Airport Chauffeur – Frequently Asked Questions

How much is a Stansted Airport chauffeur transfer?

Fares start from £76 one way for the shortest route on the network, Bishop’s Stortford, and rise from there depending on distance and vehicle class. Every route has its own fixed fare across E-Class, S-Class and V-Class – the hotel, central London and long-distance pages each carry the full table for their destinations.

Is MILE5 licensed to operate at Stansted Airport?

Yes. MILE5 Limited is a TfL-licensed private hire operator (licence 009161) providing fixed-price Mercedes chauffeur airport transfers across London, with 15+ years and 50,000+ transfers completed.

What happens if my flight into Stansted is delayed?

Nothing changes on your end. Every Stansted booking is flight-tracked, so a delayed landing shifts your driver’s pickup time automatically rather than costing you the fare or the booking.

Do you cover journeys to Stansted Airport as well as from it?

Yes – every route MILE5 runs from Stansted also runs in reverse, at the same fixed price, whether that’s a hotel pickup in London, a central London address or a long-distance collection well outside it.

Is the Stansted Express train cheaper than a chauffeur car?

For one person travelling to Liverpool Street with hand luggage, yes – a booked-ahead rail fare undercuts a fixed-price car every time, and MILE5 says so directly rather than pretending otherwise. Where the car wins is groups, luggage, an early departure wave the first train misses, or a late arrival after the last train has gone.

What’s included in the fixed price?

In-terminal meet-and-greet in the arrivals hall, flight tracking, 60 minutes of complimentary waiting time, the £10 Express Set Down charge absorbed, ULEZ and Congestion Charge absorbed where the journey enters them, luggage handling, child seats on request at an extra charge, and 24/7 availability.

Can I book a larger vehicle for a group from Stansted?

Yes – the V-Class seats up to seven with luggage space to match, so on routes like Cambridge or a Stansted event transfer the whole group travels in one booking.

Does MILE5 go beyond London from Stansted?

Yes – Stansted’s long-distance page covers the regional catchment the airport genuinely owns: Cambridge and the M11 corridor, Essex, Hertfordshire, Suffolk and Norfolk, all at fixed prices from £76.
