A MILE5 shopping trip chauffeur takes you to Bicester Village, Bond Street, Harrods or Westfield in a Mercedes, waits while you shop, keeps every bag in the car between stops and drives you home or to your hotel at the end. Bicester Village is about 65 miles from central London, roughly an hour and a half each way, and is the day people most often book with us.

Why people book a chauffeur for a shopping day
The train to Bicester Village works well on the way there and badly on the way back. Regulars on the travel forums say the same things: the car parks are “horrendous” on Saturdays and bank holidays, and the return journey with six or seven carrier bags and a suitcase is the part nobody enjoys. A chauffeur removes all of it. You are dropped at the entrance, the car goes to wait, the chauffeur takes bags off you whenever you want to unload, and when you are done you walk out and get in. Anything you buy in the morning is already in the boot by lunch.
In London itself the logic is the same but the enemy is different: parking. A chauffeur can hold outside Harrods or on Bond Street where nobody else can stop, move round the block when asked, and be at the door within a minute of your message. A day that would otherwise be three taxis and a coffee spent guarding bags becomes one car and one person who knows where you are.
The shopping days we run most often
Bicester Village
Around 160 designer outlet boutiques in Oxfordshire, 90 minutes from central London. Door-to-door in the morning, wait on site for as long as you like, home in the afternoon with the boot full. The Village offers free luggage storage behind the customer service desk, useful for visitors arriving straight from an airport.
Knightsbridge and Sloane Street
Harrods, Harvey Nichols and the Sloane Street flagships within a few hundred metres of each other. The chauffeur holds nearby and collects bags between stores.
Bond Street and Mayfair
Old and New Bond Street, Mount Street, Savile Row and Burlington Arcade, then lunch wherever you like. Ideal as a half day.
Westfield and Oxford Street
Westfield London at Shepherd’s Bush, Westfield Stratford City, Selfridges and Oxford Street. Big-volume days where a V-Class and its luggage space earn their keep.
Further afield we also drive to Gunwharf Quays in Portsmouth, Bluewater in Kent and the Ashford designer outlet, and to Bicester from Heathrow or Gatwick directly for visitors who want to shop before they check in. Two of those are fixed-price routes you can book online today: Heathrow to Bicester Village and Gatwick to Bicester Village.
How a shopping day with MILE5 works
| Stage | What happens |
|---|---|
| Booking | Tell us the date, where you are starting from, where you want to shop and roughly how long. We quote the whole day, including waiting. |
| Pickup | The chauffeur arrives at your home, hotel or airport a few minutes early in the Mercedes you booked. Airport pickups include 60 minutes of free waiting from landing. |
| While you shop | The chauffeur waits nearby and can take bags from you at any point. Message or call when you want to move on or head to lunch. |
| Home | Everything you bought is already in the car. You are dropped at the door, and the chauffeur carries the bags in. |
Shopping days are booked as as directed hire, which means you pay for the chauffeur’s time rather than for each leg, so a change of plan (an extra store, a longer lunch, a detour to a friend’s house) costs nothing to arrange. Overseas visitors often combine a shopping day with an airport arrival: met inside the terminal, straight to Bicester or Knightsbridge, then on to the hotel.
Which car for a shopping trip
Mercedes-Benz E-Class
One to three shoppers with a normal amount of bags. The usual choice for a London day.
Mercedes-Benz S-Class
For a treat of a day, or a client you are looking after. Same boot, more comfort.
Mercedes-Benz V-Class
Up to seven people, or three people and a serious day at Bicester. Sliding doors and a large flat load space make bag handling easy.
Every MILE5 car is a Mercedes replaced on a three-year cycle and cleaned between jobs. Chauffeurs are DBS-checked and TfL-licensed (licence 009161), and child seats can be fitted on request if you are shopping with children.

Shopping trips: frequently asked questions
How much does a chauffeur to Bicester Village from London cost?
A full shopping day to Bicester Village with waiting time is quoted individually by MILE5, based on your pickup point, how long you want the car and which Mercedes you choose. The one-way journeys from Heathrow and Gatwick to Bicester Village are fixed price and can be booked online. Use the contact form for a same-day quote on the round trip.
How long should I allow at Bicester Village?
Most of our passengers spend three to four hours there, which covers the main boutiques and lunch. With a chauffeur waiting you are not tied to a train time, so you can leave after ninety minutes or stay until closing.
Does the chauffeur wait while I shop?
Yes. Waiting is included in a shopping day booking. The chauffeur stays nearby, takes bags from you whenever you like, and is at the door within a few minutes of your call.
Can I be collected from the airport and go straight shopping?
Yes. This is a common booking for overseas visitors: met inside arrivals with a name board, luggage in the boot, straight to Bicester Village or Knightsbridge, then to the hotel afterwards. The airport pickup includes 60 minutes of free waiting from landing.
Is a chauffeur better than the train to Bicester Village?
For the outward leg the train is quick. For the return with bags, and for anyone starting from a hotel or an airport rather than Marylebone, a chauffeur is simpler: door to door, no shuttle bus, no carrying, and no car park to queue for on busy days.
Can a hotel concierge or assistant book for me?
Yes. Give us the passenger’s name and mobile number and we deal with them on the day while confirmations go to the booker.
