Luton Airport terminal and transport links
Luton has one terminal, so every arrival comes into the same arrivals hall and there is no terminal to check. Departure gates are spread across three piers off the main building, and the walk to the furthest gates takes around ten minutes. Our Luton Airport guide covers the layout, security and the piers in detail.
Luton Airport Parkway station is not at the terminal: the DART people mover links the two in about four minutes for a £4.90 single, and Thameslink and East Midlands Railway trains then take 22 to 35 minutes to London St Pancras. By road, central London is about 60 minutes traffic dependent, St Albans around 20 minutes and Milton Keynes about 30.
Luton departures and gate information
The live departures board above lists every outbound flight with its scheduled and estimated time, destination, airline and status, and you can move the date forward to check tomorrow’s departures. Luton’s early wave leaves from around 06:00, so security is busiest before 07:00. Gate numbers appear on the airport screens shortly before boarding, so stay near the screens once you are through security rather than heading to a pier early.
Picking someone up at Luton
The Drop Off Zone beside the terminal costs £9 for up to 12 minutes and £1 a minute after that, with a 30-minute maximum, payable online by midnight the following day; overstaying brings a £95 enforcement charge (£55 if paid within 14 days) and Blue Badge holders get no exemption here. For pick-ups use the Short Stay car park next to the terminal, or the Long Stay car park, which is free for up to two hours with a shuttle every 20 minutes from Bus Bay B outside the terminal. For onward travel into town, see our Luton to central London routes.
