London City Airport Long Distance Transfers
Beyond central London, MILE5 runs fixed-price transfers from London City Airport out across Essex, Kent and the wider South East, from £149 one way, for the trips too far for a taxi meter to make sense.

These are the routes that sit outside London itself: from an 18.8-mile run to Bluewater to a 119.7-mile trip down to Southampton Cruise Terminal, the longest single route MILE5 runs from London City. A fixed price matters more here than anywhere else in the network, since a metered fare over that kind of distance can vary wildly with traffic and route. See the full list and prices below, or head back to the main London City Airport transfers hub for London hotel routes and central London destinations.
Where we go beyond London
Essex and the A12 corridor – Chelmsford, Brentwood, Colchester and Southend-on-Sea – are MILE5’s home catchment, the routes we run most often outside the capital, with drivers who know the corridor as well as they know the airport itself.
Kent covers Sevenoaks, Bluewater, Canterbury and Royal Tunbridge Wells, a spread from the shortest route on this whole page to the historic cathedral city furthest into the county. North and west takes in Cambridge, Windsor, Ascot and St Albans – the tech corridor, royal Berkshire, and the racing calendar all sit in this group, each for its own reason rather than any shared geography.
Dover and Southampton Cruise Terminal are their own category: cruise passengers arriving or departing with more luggage than a typical airport trip, often on a schedule that leaves no room for a missed connection. These two runs are the longest on the sheet, and the ones where a fixed price and a guaranteed pickup matter most.

What years of long distance routes have taught us
A fixed price earns its keep most on the routes where a metered fare would be genuinely unpredictable – three hours to Southampton or an hour and a half to Dover can vary hugely with traffic, and knowing the exact cost before you travel matters more the longer the journey gets.
Cruise passengers heading to Dover or Southampton are usually carrying more than a typical airport trip, and a V-Class earns its keep here too: more boot space for cases, and room for a family or a small group travelling to the same ship without splitting into two cars. Book the outbound and the return sailing date together where you can – long-distance pickups need more lead time to schedule than a short airport run.
Essex bookings, our most frequent long-distance runs, tend to be repeat business travellers and locals who fly LCY specifically because it’s closer to home than Stansted or Heathrow; Kent and the racing and royal-event routes around Windsor and Ascot see the sharpest seasonal spikes, so book earlier than usual around major race meetings.
Arriving at the terminal
For a long run out of London the airport you fly into changes the whole day. London City against Heathrow covers when the smaller airport wins, and the 100ml rule that still applies at LCY is worth checking before you pack.
London City has a single terminal in the Royal Docks, so wherever you’re heading afterwards, your driver waits in the same place: inside the compact arrivals hall, holding a name board, watching your flight so a delay costs you nothing. If you’re connecting onward from another London airport rather than flying into LCY, see our airport to airport transfers across London.

Frequently asked questions
How much is a London City Airport long distance transfer?
Prices start from £149 for the shortest route on this page (Bluewater) and rise with distance, up to £367 for Southampton Cruise Terminal, the longest run MILE5 offers. Every destination has its own fixed E-Class, S-Class and V-Class price in the table above.
Which areas does MILE5 cover beyond London?
Essex and the A12 corridor, Kent, the Cambridge and Windsor corridor, and the Dover and Southampton cruise terminals. See the full list and prices above.
Can I book a bigger car for cruise luggage or a family group?
Yes. The V-Class seats up to seven with a larger boot, and it’s the practical choice for cruise passengers or families travelling with more than standard airport luggage.
Does the price change if my flight is delayed?
No. Every driver tracks your flight and adjusts pickup automatically, and the 60-minute complimentary wait starts from your actual landing time.
How far ahead should I book a long-distance transfer?
As early as you can, especially around race meetings near Windsor and Ascot or a cruise departure date, when demand on these routes is highest.
My destination isn’t on this list. Can you still help?
Almost certainly. Get in touch directly and we’ll quote the route for you.
