London City Airport to Windsor Chauffeur – Meet & Greet, Fixed Price

A London City Airport to Windsor transfer is a fixed-price Mercedes chauffeur, around 85 to 110 minutes door to door and from £261 one way, running in both directions 24/7. MILE5 runs the route to Windsor and the Windsor to London City Airport leg back at the same fixed price, with a driver waiting inside the terminal whichever way you’re travelling.

This journey is one of the routes on our London City airport chauffeur page, which covers every destination we drive from the airport with the same Mercedes fleet, the same met-at-arrivals pickup and the same fixed-price promise.

Windsor sits 67 miles out, generally via the A13 and North Circular before picking up the M4 west into Berkshire. It’s a genuine cross-London journey – London City sits in the east, Windsor well out to the west – so off-peak the drive is around 85 minutes, stretching towards 110 if the North Circular or the M4 into Berkshire is running slow, which is the honest range rather than the fastest-case figure some quote for this route.

A direct train exists but it isn’t quick from London City specifically – more on that below. What it can’t do is meet you at the gate, track your flight, or take you straight to your Windsor address rather than the station. MILE5 is TfL-licensed (licence 009161), has run London City routes for 15+ years and holds a 5-star Google rating, and every Windsor transfer includes the meet-and-greet, the wait, and the airport’s own charges in the one price you’re quoted.

Every Windsor transfer includes meet-and-greet inside London City’s single arrivals hall, flight tracking from the moment you land, 60 minutes of complimentary waiting time, the airport’s own £8 drop-off charge absorbed into the fare, and full luggage handling to the door. Child seats are available on request at an extra charge, and the car runs 24 hours a day, every day of the year.

Where we deliver you in Windsor

Most bookings head for the town centre around Windsor Castle and the Royal Shopping Arcade, or across the river to Eton, a short drive but a genuinely separate town in its own right. Windsor’s streets close to the Castle are pedestrianised and can be tightly managed around Changing the Guard and state events, so the exact drop-off point matters more here than the postcode alone; tell your driver where you’re headed and we’ll plan the approach to avoid any road closures on the day.

Windsor Great Park and Legoland Windsor both sit just outside the town, and a Legoland day out or a Great Park visit is a common reason for booking this route as a family trip rather than a castle visit alone – we cover both as part of the same fixed-price journey.

Windsor: a working royal castle

Windsor Castle has been a royal residence since William the Conqueror began building it in 1070, making it both the largest and the oldest continuously occupied castle in the world – one of the monarch’s three official residences alongside Buckingham Palace and the Palace of Holyroodhouse. St George’s Chapel within the castle walls is where Prince Harry and Meghan Markle married in 2018, and where Queen Elizabeth II is buried alongside ten other monarchs. A mile north across the Thames stands Eton College, founded in 1440 by Henry VI, one of Britain’s most famous schools and the alma mater of twenty prime ministers.

Windsor and Eton are connected by a footbridge over the river, and the two towns are usually explored together – the castle and Royal Shopping Arcade on the Windsor side, the college and the riverside walk on the Eton side. For a family trip, the V-Class seats up to 7 with luggage, useful for combining a castle visit with a Legoland day without splitting the group across two cars.

Train or MILE5: the honest comparison

South Western Railway runs direct trains from Waterloo to Windsor & Eton Riverside, taking around an hour if your journey starts or ends there – a solid option for a straightforward London trip. The gap is London City specifically: getting to Waterloo from the airport means the DLR into town, a change, and the reverse on the way back, on a journey that’s already long before the train even starts.

For that particular combination – London City at one end, Windsor at the other – a direct car removes both changes in a single booking, and the case runs the same way for a Windsor to London City Airport departure as it does for arriving. If your journey doesn’t touch London City at all, the direct Waterloo train is usually the better call and we’d rather say so.

What years on this route have taught us

This is one of the longer runs in our North & west cluster, and the honest lesson is about timing rather than the road itself – the North Circular and the M4 into Berkshire are the two stretches most likely to run slow, and we build that buffer into the quote rather than promise the fastest-case 85 minutes. London City’s own hours matter here too: the airport closes overnight and shuts at 1pm on Saturdays, and on a route this length a pre-booked car is the only dependable option at either edge of the operating week.

Book the return leg alongside the outbound if your dates are fixed. It doesn’t change the Windsor to London City Airport price, but it guarantees a car is already allocated to you rather than sourced on the day, which matters more on a longer route with less slack to work with.

Arriving at London City Airport

London City has a single terminal in the Royal Docks, so there’s no hunting for the right building. Your driver waits inside the compact arrivals hall holding a name board, watching your flight so a delay doesn’t cost you your pickup slot. Check the arrivals board once you’ve landed and your driver will already be in position.

Frequently asked questions

How much is a London City Airport to Windsor transfer?

From £261 one way in an E-Class, £374 in an S-Class or £393 in a V-Class, fixed and all-inclusive whichever direction you’re travelling. The journey normally takes 85 to 110 minutes via the M4.

How much is a Windsor to London City Airport transfer?

The Windsor to London City Airport leg costs the same fixed price as the outbound – £261 in an E-Class, £374 S-Class, £393 V-Class – with your driver tracking your flight and confirmed for the return journey whenever you book it.

Is the train cheaper than a MILE5 transfer to Windsor?

For a journey starting or ending at Waterloo, often yes. For London City specifically, you’re looking at the DLR plus a change onto the mainline service in both directions, rather than one direct car.

Does MILE5 still pick up if my flight to London City is delayed?

Yes. Every driver tracks your flight and adjusts pickup automatically, and the 60-minute complimentary wait starts from your actual landing time, not the scheduled one.

Can I book a bigger car for a group or extra luggage?

Yes. The V-Class seats up to seven with luggage space to match, useful for a family combining Windsor Castle with a Legoland day.

Do you also run transfers to Legoland Windsor?

Yes, Legoland Windsor is a separate booking on the same fixed-price basis – see our dedicated Legoland Windsor transfer page for details.

Windsor sits in MILE5’s North & west cluster alongside our route to Cambridge, arriving in St Albans and our route to Ascot, plus arriving in Bishops Stortford, pick-ups in Milton Keynes and transfers to Legoland Windsor nearby. For every other route we run beyond the capital, see the full long distance route list.
