London City Airport to Greenwich Chauffeur – Meet & Greet, Fixed Price

A London City Airport to Greenwich transfer is a fixed-price Mercedes chauffeur, around 10 to 20 minutes door to door and from £64 one way, running in both directions 24 hours a day.

This journey is one of the routes on our London City chauffeur service page, which covers every destination we drive from the airport with the same Mercedes fleet, the same met-at-arrivals pickup and the same fixed-price promise.

MILE5 runs the route to Greenwich and the Greenwich to London City Airport leg back at the same fixed price, with a driver waiting inside the terminal whichever way you’re travelling.

Greenwich sits 3.6 miles from London City Airport, the closest destination on our entire central London list and the lowest fare we run. Allow 10 to 20 minutes depending on traffic on the approach through the Blackwall or Silvertown tunnels. The DLR reaches Greenwich too, with a station attached to the airport terminal and Cutty Sark DLR one change away – a genuine option if you’re travelling light.

MILE5 is TfL Licensed (No. 009161), has run London airport transfers for 15+ years and carries a 5-star Google rating from our clients (see what our clients say).

Child seats are available on request at an extra charge, and the car runs 24 hours a day, every day of the year.

Where we go in Greenwich

Greenwich is the one genuinely tourist destination on our central London list from this airport, and the only stop where “day trip” is as common a booking reason as “meeting” or “hotel”. Drivers cover the Old Royal Naval College and Cutty Sark area down by the river, the Royal Observatory and Greenwich Park up the hill, Greenwich Market in the village centre, and the residential streets around Blackheath and West Greenwich for hotel and home pickups.

At 3.6 miles this is the shortest and lowest-priced route we run from London City into central London.

Where time itself begins

Greenwich’s town centre, park and riverside buildings form Maritime Greenwich, a UNESCO World Heritage Site inscribed in 1997 that covers the Old Royal Naval College, the Queen’s House, the Royal Observatory and the Cutty Sark. The Observatory sits at the top of Greenwich Park on the Prime Meridian, the line of zero longitude that gives the world Greenwich Mean Time and splits the eastern and western hemispheres – visitors can stand with one foot in each. The Old Royal Naval College itself, designed by Christopher Wren on the site of the old Tudor Palace of Placentia, was built as a hospital for retired sailors before becoming a naval college; its Painted Hall is one of the most decorated rooms in Britain. Down by the water, the Cutty Sark – the last of the great tea clippers – survived a serious fire in 2007 and reopened to visitors in 2012, now raised on display so you can walk beneath the hull.

DLR or MILE5: the honest comparison

The DLR is a genuinely strong option on this route – a station sits right at the airport terminal and Cutty Sark DLR puts you in the middle of Greenwich in around fifteen minutes for a few pounds. Where a car earns its fare is luggage, timing and the last stretch: Greenwich Park and the Observatory sit up a real hill from the DLR station, which is no fun with a suitcase, and a pre-booked car goes straight to the entrance you actually need rather than the nearest station. If you’re arriving for a meeting or a hotel and travelling light, the DLR is a fair way to save the fare; with cases, a pushchair, or the Observatory itself as the destination, the car is the easier version of the same trip.

What this route has taught us

Being the cheapest and closest route on the sheet means Greenwich also carries the widest mix of passengers we see on any single page – business guests staying near the O2 side, families heading to the park and the Observatory, and cruise-adjacent bookings for guests breaking a Greenwich stop into a longer day. Weekends and school holidays bring genuine footfall around the market and the park, worth building in a few extra minutes for the last stretch even though the overall journey stays short. London City’s Saturday 1pm closure is worth checking too if you’re booking a same-day Saturday round trip.

Families visiting the park and the Observatory together travel well in the V-Class – seven seats and room for a pushchair or extra bags, one car instead of splitting a group across two.

Meeting you at London City Airport

London City has a single arrivals hall, so there’s no terminal to guess at – your driver waits inside with a name board as you come through. Check the arrivals board for your flight status; if you land early or late, flight tracking means the car adjusts automatically and the 60 minutes of complimentary waiting time covers a slow bag or a long queue at passport control. From there it’s a short walk to the car, already loaded, straight out towards Greenwich.

Frequently asked questions

How much is a London City Airport to Greenwich transfer?

From £64 in the E-Class, £101 in the S-Class or £91 in the V-Class, fixed and shown in full in the table above – the cheapest fare on our entire central London list. The price covers the whole car, not a per-person fare, and is the same in both directions.

How much is a Greenwich to London City Airport transfer?

The same fixed price as the airport-bound leg – £64 E-Class, £101 S-Class, £91 V-Class – booked the same way, with your driver tracking your return flight if you’re heading onward from London City.

Is the DLR cheaper than a MILE5 transfer to Greenwich?

Yes, on pure fare – a DLR journey costs a few pounds against a fixed £64 car. The station sits right at the airport and Cutty Sark DLR lands you in the middle of Greenwich, but the walk up to the Park and the Observatory is a real hill with luggage. If you’re travelling light to a meeting or hotel near the station, the DLR is a fair way to save the fare.

What happens if my flight to London City is delayed?

Nothing changes on your end. We track your flight and adjust the pickup time automatically, and the 60 minutes of complimentary waiting time starts from actual touchdown, not the scheduled time – so a late landing doesn’t cost you anything extra.

Can I book a larger vehicle for a family or group visiting the park?

Yes – the V-Class seats up to seven with room for pushchairs and extra bags, useful for a family or group visiting Greenwich Park and the Observatory together in one car instead of two.

Do you cover the Cutty Sark, the Observatory and Greenwich Market directly?

Yes. Tell us which attraction or the market when you book and the driver drops as close to the entrance as the road layout allows, whether that’s the riverside by the Cutty Sark, the park gates for the Observatory, or the village centre for the market.

Greenwich sits at the heart of the same corridor as three other London City routes: transfers to Canary Wharf, the O2 from London City, and the journey to Stratford all leave from the same terminal kerb, priced the same fair way. If your day includes a stop further out along the A13, the run to Romford covers the eastern edge of that corridor too.
