This is the full spread of London City Airport to central London transfers we run, from a 3.6-mile hop to Greenwich to a 13.6-mile run out to Notting Hill, the longest central-London route on the sheet. Journey times for the closest Docklands destinations typically run 14 to 18 minutes in normal traffic; further into the West End, allow closer to 30 to 40 minutes depending on time of day. See the full list and prices below, or head back to the main London City Airport transfers hub for hotel-by-hotel transfer pages and destinations beyond London.
The London we cover
The Docklands and eastern corridor – Canary Wharf, Greenwich, The O2, Stratford and Hackney – are the closest destinations on the sheet, all under eight miles, and the roads here run differently depending on whether there’s an event on at the O2 or a quiet weekday morning in Canary Wharf’s financial estate.
The City, Southwark and East London group together the Square Mile, Liverpool Street, Shoreditch, London Bridge, Clerkenwell and Holborn: a mix of weekday-morning business arrivals and the genuinely different character of Shoreditch’s evening economy. Two West End routes, Soho and Covent Garden, sit further in, both defined as much by where a car can actually stop as by the destination itself.
North London – Kings Cross, Euston and Camden – is mostly air-to-rail connections rather than final destinations, and Westminster, Victoria and Belgravia form their own cluster: Parliament and the government estate, the coach and rail interchange at Victoria, and the quiet embassy squares of Belgravia. Prime central west covers the largest single group – Mayfair, Knightsbridge, Chelsea, Kensington, Marylebone and Notting Hill – each written as its own district rather than reading like the hotel pages that happen to sit inside the same postcodes.

What years of central London routes have taught us
The A13, A1020, Lower Lea Crossing and Limehouse Link carry almost everything heading west from London City, and that single corridor is why a short-distance route can sometimes take longer than a further one; Stratford is only 4.5 miles away but can run to 25 minutes in traffic, while a straighter run into the West End often moves quicker despite covering more ground.
Event nights at the O2 change the Docklands roads completely, not just around the venue itself; we build extra time into pickups on show nights rather than treating it as a normal Tuesday. The same applies in reverse on a match day near Chelsea or Kensington, where road closures can add real time to a route that’s usually straightforward.
For Canary Wharf, the City, Stratford and anywhere directly on the DLR or Elizabeth line, public transport is genuinely the cheaper option and we’d rather say so than pretend a car always wins. Where a car earns its keep is everywhere else on this list, especially with luggage, in a group, or arriving somewhere the tube doesn’t reach directly – and for groups heading to the same event or venue, a single V-Class is usually simpler than splitting across two smaller cars.
Weekday demand skews heavily towards the City, Canary Wharf and Liverpool Street: business travellers landing for a meeting and flying home the same evening. Weekends tip the other way, towards Notting Hill, Chelsea, Soho and Covent Garden, where trips carry more luggage and less flexibility on timing. Booking your return leg alongside the outbound guarantees a car is held for you rather than sourced last minute, which matters most on a Friday evening when half of central London seems to be trying to get to the airport at once.
Arriving at the terminal
Getting into central London from LCY comes down to three options and a forecourt charge. We compare them in Uber from London City Airport, and if you are still choosing an airport, London City against Heathrow sets out the door-to-gate difference.
London City has a single terminal in the Royal Docks, so wherever you’re heading into town, your driver waits in the same place: inside the compact arrivals hall, holding a name board, watching your flight so a delay costs you nothing. Check your London City flight before you travel.

Frequently asked questions
How do I get from London City Airport into central London?
By pre-booked car, DLR, or a mix of both. A MILE5 driver takes you door to door with no changes; the DLR is quicker to book on the day but means at least one change of train for most central destinations, plus carrying your own luggage the whole way.
How much is a London City Airport to central London transfer?
Prices start from £64 for the closest routes and rise with distance, up to around £109 for Notting Hill, the furthest on the list. Every destination has its own fixed E-Class, S-Class and V-Class price in the table above.
Which parts of London does MILE5 cover from London City Airport?
25 destinations across six areas: the Docklands and eastern corridor, the City and East London, the West End, North London’s rail termini, Westminster and Belgravia, and prime central west including Mayfair, Knightsbridge, Chelsea and Notting Hill.
Is the tube or DLR cheaper than a MILE5 transfer?
For Canary Wharf, the City and Stratford, usually yes. For anywhere else, or with luggage or a group, a direct car is worth the difference.
Does the price change if my flight is delayed?
No. Every driver tracks your flight and adjusts pickup automatically, and the 60-minute complimentary wait starts from your actual landing time.
Can I book a bigger car for a group?
Yes. The V-Class seats up to seven with luggage, and for groups heading to the same event or venue it keeps everyone in one car rather than two.
My destination isn’t on this list. Can you still help?
Almost certainly. Get in touch directly and we’ll quote the route for you.
