Heathrow to Brighton Transfer – Direct A23 Chauffeur from £260

Brighton is 58 miles south of Heathrow with no direct train between them, so the rail option means going into central London and back out again. Our Heathrow to Brighton transfer runs directly south via the M25 and A23, no London detour, to your hotel, guesthouse, or seafront address in 75-100 minutes.

See your fixed price

To go by rail you take the Elizabeth Line into central London, cross the city to Victoria or London Bridge, then catch a Southern or Thameslink service south to Brighton, a minimum of 2 hours 15 minutes door to door on a good connection and considerably more with luggage. The transfer does it in one vehicle, one driver, direct. Brighton itself is England’s most visited seaside city, with a permanent population of 280,000, a weekend visitor flow that regularly doubles that, and a character unlike anywhere else in the country: the Royal Pavilion (George IV’s Indo-Saracenic palace), The Lanes (a medieval street network of independent jewellers, vintage shops, and restaurants), North Laine (the arts and bohemian district just below the station), and seven miles of shingle beach stretching west toward Hove. Our Heathrow chauffeur service has been running since 2011. TfL Licensed No. 009161, 5-star Google rating, 50,000+ transfers completed.

Why There’s No Direct Train, and What That Means for Your Journey

This is the honest version of the Heathrow to Brighton transport question, because most comparison sites do not explain the full picture.

The train route involves two separate rail systems that do not connect. Heathrow sits on the Elizabeth Line and Piccadilly Line, both serving central London, while Brighton sits on the Southern and Thameslink network out of Victoria or London Bridge. The two networks meet in central London, not at Heathrow, so you go into London and back out again: Elizabeth Line to Paddington or Tottenham Court Road, across London to Victoria, then Victoria to Brighton, or Elizabeth Line to Farringdon, then Thameslink south. Either way it is a minimum of 2 hours 15 minutes door to door with a good connection and light luggage, against 75-100 minutes for the transfer, direct south via the A23 with no London detour.

Luggage changes the equation fundamentally, because the rail route means at least two platform changes and a cross-London journey with your cases, which on the Underground at peak hours is genuinely unpleasant. The transfer handles luggage from carousel to car to your Brighton front door, so you touch your bags twice: off the belt and into your accommodation. Group travel shifts the comparison too. A group of four travels together in one vehicle, direct rather than via two Underground changes and a cross-platform dash at Victoria. There is also a specific app problem on this route: Brighton sits just outside the core radius most Uber drivers work from Heathrow, so the app will often show availability then cancel after acceptance, or quote heavy surge for the 58-mile run, whereas a pre-booked fixed-price transfer removes that risk. Our Uber vs Bolt 2026 guide and chauffeur vs Uber comparison cover the full picture.

What Every Brighton Transfer Includes

Brighton draws couples on weekend breaks, families in summer, stag and hen groups, conference delegates at the Brighton Centre, and international tourists exploring England beyond London. Here is what every Heathrow to Brighton transfer delivers in practice.

Local knowledge comes first. Seafront hotels on King’s Road, boutique guesthouses in Kemp Town, North Laine rentals, Hove addresses, and venues around the Old Steine and Church Road all need different approach routes, and Brighton’s one-way system around the seafront and the Old Steine catches out unfamiliar drivers; your chauffeur knows which roads lead where on the first attempt. Flight monitoring runs from your origin airport, so delays in Amsterdam, Frankfurt, or Dubai are seen before you land at Heathrow and your driver adjusts automatically, with 60 minutes complimentary waiting from wheels-down rather than from the scheduled arrival time. Child seats are available at an extra charge, with infant carriers, forward-facing seats, and boosters fitted before you arrive, which matters in a city as popular for family summer holidays as Brighton; specify ages when you book.

For groups, the V-Class at £389 carries up to seven passengers with all luggage, one vehicle, everyone together, one fixed price to the door from any Heathrow terminal, far simpler than multiple taxis or the London connection. Every charge is included, with the £7 Heathrow drop-off fee and ULEZ absorbed and no Congestion Charge on this route, so the price you see at booking is the price charged. And driver details arrive 24 hours ahead, with name, photo, and a direct WhatsApp number, so if a bag goes missing or a gate changes you contact the driver directly rather than a call centre.

Brighton’s Districts – Where We Deliver You

Brighton is more geographically varied than visitors often expect, covering everything from the seafront hotels on King’s Road to Kemp Town’s Regency terraces a mile east, from North Laine’s independent shops just below the station to the quieter residential streets of Hove to the west. Your Heathrow to Brighton transfer drops you at the right address.

On the seafront, along King’s Road and Marine Parade, the Grand Brighton on King’s Road has direct vehicle access, Hotel du Vin on Ship Street is approached via Meeting House Lane, and Drakes Hotel on Marine Parade in Kemp Town has direct access; the Lanes seafront area is reached via East Street or Middle Street rather than the seafront road itself during pedestrian-priority hours. Kemp Town, the Regency quarter east of the Palace Pier, is Brighton’s most architecturally striking residential neighbourhood, with large Regency and early Victorian terraces from the 1820s and the largest private garden squares in England at Lewes Crescent and Sussex Square; it is also Brighton’s LGBTQ+ neighbourhood, particularly busy around Pride, and properties are approached via St James’s Street or Eastern Road, working the Kemp Town one-way system rather than the Palace Pier traffic cluster.

North Laine, just south-east of the station along Gloucester Road, Sydney Street, and Gardner Street, is where Brighton’s independent character is most visible, full of record shops, vintage clothing, coffee roasters, and ceramics studios, with most streets directly accessible by vehicle. Hove, technically a separate town within the Brighton and Hove unitary authority, stretches west along the seafront and inland through wide Victorian and Edwardian streets, with Church Road as its high street and a seafront between the West Pier ruin and Hove Lagoon that is significantly quieter than central Brighton, popular with guests wanting the sea without the weekend crowds. We deliver throughout Hove on every transfer.

What We’ve Learned Running This Route

Brighton Pride weekend is the one date on the calendar that genuinely affects your transfer timing. Pride (early August, usually the first or second Saturday) is one of Europe’s largest, with 160,000-plus people in the city, large sections of the seafront and Old Steine closed to traffic, and significant disruption across the centre. If your transfer arrives on Pride weekend we reroute around the closures and use approach routes that work around the cordons, and drop-off may be at the nearest accessible point rather than directly outside your hotel if it falls inside the closure zone, so it is worth knowing in advance and worth booking early.

The M23 past Gatwick and Crawley is the most variable section of the route, and Friday afternoon is the worst window. The M23/A23 corridor runs past Gatwick, and Friday afternoon southbound, when London weekenders join the flow, is the most consistently slow stretch of any Heathrow to Brighton run; between 3pm and 7pm on a Friday, budget 100-120 minutes rather than the usual 75-90. If you have flexibility on arrival day, landing Thursday and transferring that evening, or landing Saturday morning, makes a material difference, and we always give the honest timing for your specific journey rather than best-case numbers. Worth knowing too that Brighton sits on the A23 just south of Gatwick, so a Brighton-to-Gatwick run is around 30 minutes against 75-90 for Brighton to Heathrow, which is useful if your inbound and outbound flights use different London airports, a more common pattern than people expect; our Heathrow to Gatwick transfer and inter-airport transfers cover this.

Brighton Fringe (May, England’s largest arts festival) and The Great Escape (mid-May, a leading new-music festival) both fill accommodation and make an already busy spring city busier, with hotel rates spiking and parking near venue-adjacent hotels difficult; if your transfer lands during either, let us know at booking and we factor in event road restrictions around the seafront venues, Corn Exchange, and Dome. For groups, the V-Class at £389 runs from any terminal direct to your accommodation and keeps everyone together with luggage handled, no platform changes and no taxis from Brighton station, which for a stag or hen group usually decides it. book online.

Brighton – What International Visitors Actually Come For

Brighton has drawn visitors since the Prince of Wales, later George IV, made it fashionable in the late 18th century. The reasons people book a Heathrow to Brighton transfer specifically are worth understanding.

The Royal Pavilion is the most extraordinary building in English domestic architecture. George IV had John Nash transform Henry Holland’s neoclassical Marine Pavilion into the palace we see today between 1815 and 1822, producing a palace with Mughal Indian exterior domes and Chinese Regency interiors that has no equivalent in England; the Banqueting Room’s chandelier hung from a dragon’s claws and the Music Room’s lotus-blossom ceiling are among the most eccentric interiors in any public building in Britain. Entry is around £20, bookable ahead in summer, and it is a ten-minute walk from any seafront hotel we deliver to. The Lanes, the original fishing village of Brighthelmstone, is a network of narrow irregular medieval streets now home to the highest concentration of independent antique jewellers in England outside London, alongside wine bars, restaurants, and long-established shops; serious collectors come specifically for the vintage and estate jewellery dealers on Brighton Place and Meeting House Lane, and unlike the more tourist-facing North Laine, The Lanes keeps a working local commercial character.

Brighton’s seven miles of shingle beach (not sand, a distinction worth knowing before you pack a beach mat) run from Hove Lagoon in the west to the Marina in the east. Brighton Palace Pier is 1,722 feet of Victorian seaside entertainment, rides, arcades, and fish and chips eaten while fending off seagulls, and is one of England’s most-visited attractions, free to enter with rides and food paid for; the parallel i360 viewing tower, opened in 2016, rises from the West Pier ruins and lifts a glass pod above the city for views to the South Downs and across the Channel. Brighton Pride, typically the first weekend of August, draws 160,000-plus people for a parade through the centre followed by two days of performances in Preston Park; one of the UK’s oldest Pride festivals (since 1991) and one of the most celebrated, it pulls visitors from across Europe, with Kemp Town as the social hub. If you are booking a transfer for Pride weekend, book six to eight weeks ahead, as both accommodation and transport fill very quickly.

The A23 Route to Brighton – How We Drive It

Fifty-eight miles south from Heathrow, one of our most straightforward long-distance routes for navigation, with timing almost entirely set by the M25 junction and the A23 corridor past Gatwick.

The primary route runs M25 south to the M23, then the A23 direct to Brighton. From Heathrow we exit south onto the M25, then the M23 south past Gatwick, joining the A23 dual carriageway that runs directly into Brighton from the north via Preston Road and on to the city centre. The route passes within two miles of Gatwick, which is why it is the obvious corridor for anyone connecting between the two airports, and off-peak it runs in 75-90 minutes, with the M25 Junction 7 connection and the M23 past Crawley the only genuinely variable sections.

Timing varies by departure time. Before 7am it is 70-80 minutes with a clear M25 south and no Gatwick traffic. Between 7am and 9am on weekdays it is 85-100 minutes as the M25 anticlockwise towards Junction 7 builds. Between 9am and 3pm it is 75-90 minutes, the best window for most arrivals. Between 3pm and 7pm on Friday it is 100-125 minutes, the A23 southbound at its worst. Saturday and Sunday daytime is 85-110 minutes with leisure traffic southbound, and after 7pm it is 75-85 minutes as roads settle quickly. During M25 incidents around the southern orbital we can exit earlier at Junction 9 and take the A24 south through Dorking to the A27, which adds miles but keeps you moving; on standard days the primary M25/M23/A23 route is the correct choice. Into the city the A23 arrives via Preston Road through Preston Park and on via London Road or Ditchling Road depending on your destination, with seafront hotels reached on a western sweep via Seven Dials, Kemp Town from the east via the A259 seafront, and North Laine closest to the A23 entry point; your chauffeur knows which approach serves your specific address, not just the general postcode.

Heathrow to Brighton – Frequently Asked Questions

Is there a direct train from Heathrow to Brighton?

No. There is no direct train between Heathrow and Brighton. The Elizabeth Line and Piccadilly Line, Heathrow’s rail connections, serve central London and do not connect to the Southern or Thameslink network that serves Brighton. To travel by rail you take the Elizabeth Line into central London, cross the city to Victoria or a Thameslink station, and catch a Brighton train, a minimum of 2 hours 15 minutes door to door with a good connection and considerably longer with luggage or delays. Our Heathrow to Brighton transfer takes 75-100 minutes direct via the A23, with no London detour.

How long does the Heathrow to Brighton transfer take?

75-100 minutes in normal conditions. The route is 58 miles via the M25 south and the A23, direct without going through London. Off-peak (before 7am, 9am-3pm on weekdays, evenings) it is 75-90 minutes. Friday afternoon southbound and Saturday daytime are the slowest windows at 100-125 minutes. We give an accurate estimate for your specific arrival time when you book.

Can you deliver to any Brighton address, including Hove and Kemp Town?

Yes, every address across Brighton and Hove: seafront hotels on King’s Road, boutique hotels in The Lanes, Kemp Town Regency properties on Marine Parade and Eastern Road, North Laine guesthouses near the station, and residential addresses throughout Hove. We know Brighton’s one-way system and pedestrianised zones, and your transfer uses the correct approach route for your specific address.

How does the group pricing work for a stag or hen weekend?

The V-Class at £389 carries up to seven passengers with full luggage from any Heathrow terminal direct to your Brighton accommodation. There are no cross-London changes or taxis from Brighton station, and the V-Class keeps everyone together with luggage handled, which for a group usually wins on convenience. For larger parties of eight or more, contact us directly and we coordinate multiple vehicles to arrive together.

What about Brighton Pride weekend, any issues?

Brighton Pride (early August) brings significant road closures around the Old Steine, Grand Parade, and seafront areas. We reroute around the event cordons and drop off at the nearest accessible point to your hotel if it falls within a closure zone. Mention Brighton Pride in your booking notes and we will note your accommodation’s position relative to the closures. Book well ahead for this weekend, as it is one of our busiest single-date bookings of the year.

Can I use Brighton as a base for a Gatwick departure?

Yes. Brighton to Gatwick is around 30 minutes via the A23 northbound, making it an excellent base for Gatwick departures. See our inter-airport transfers page for Heathrow-Gatwick pricing. Brighton’s A23 position means both airports are genuinely accessible without going through London.

Do you handle flight delays automatically?

Yes. We track your flight from your origin airport and your transfer adjusts automatically, with 60 minutes complimentary waiting from actual wheels-down and no action needed from you. If delays push significantly beyond that window, we contact you on WhatsApp directly.

Can I book a return Brighton to Heathrow transfer?

Yes, identical pricing both directions. Brighton to Heathrow at 5-6am on the A23 northbound is one of our smoothest early-morning runs, reliably 70-80 minutes with no traffic, and we recommend the correct pickup time for your terminal and flight when you book.
