Which terminal? Heathrow airlines by terminal

Heathrow has four passenger terminals, and the terminal is set by the airline, so confirm it before you set off. The boards above cover all four; each row shows the terminal.

  • Terminal 2 (The Queen’s Terminal) – Star Alliance airlines including Lufthansa, United, Air Canada, Singapore Airlines, Swiss and Aer Lingus, plus some independents. See our Terminal 2 guide.
  • Terminal 3 – Oneworld carriers such as American Airlines, Cathay Pacific, Finnair, Japan Airlines and Qantas, together with Virgin Atlantic, Delta and Emirates. See our Terminal 3 guide.
  • Terminal 4 – SkyTeam airlines including Air France and KLM, plus Qatar Airways, Etihad, Malaysia Airlines and other Middle East and Asian carriers. See our Terminal 4 guide.
  • Terminal 5 – British Airways and Iberia only. Most “Heathrow Terminal 5 arrivals” searches are BA long-haul flights. See our Terminal 5 guide.

Airlines do move between terminals, so check your boarding pass close to departure. New York JFK, Dubai and Doha were the busiest international routes in 2025, and Edinburgh the busiest domestic.

Heathrow departures and gate information

The live departures board above lists every outbound flight with its scheduled and estimated time, destination, airline, terminal and status, and you can move the date forward to check tomorrow’s departures. Heathrow recommends arriving two hours before a European flight and three hours before long-haul. Gate numbers appear on the terminal screens shortly before boarding; at Terminal 5 the B and C gates are a transit ride from the main building, and some Terminal 3 and Terminal 2 gates are a long walk, so move as soon as your gate is called.

Picking someone up at Heathrow

A £7 charge applies every time a vehicle enters a terminal drop-off area, with a ten-minute maximum stay; non-payment means an £80 parking charge, reduced to £40 if paid within 14 days, and payment is due by midnight the next day. Pick-ups and waiting are not permitted in the drop-off areas: use the Terminal Parking (short stay) car parks, which sit a short walk from each arrivals hall, or the free Park & Ride car parks with a free bus to the terminal. Long-haul arrivals typically take 45 to 60 minutes from landing to the arrivals hall; European arrivals with e-gates are often out in 30. For onward travel into town, see our Heathrow to central London routes.
