Gatwick to Windsor Transfer – Met at Arrivals, Driven to the Castle Town
A Gatwick to Windsor transfer is a fixed-price Mercedes chauffeur, about 45 to 65 minutes door to door and from £209 one way, running in both directions 24/7. Your driver meets you inside the terminal, tracks the flight so the timing follows your real landing, and takes you the 35 miles round the western side of the M25 to a Windsor hotel, the riverside, or a Great Park address. It is one of the shorter runs we make from the airport, and the same car covers Windsor to Gatwick for the way home.
Windsor lies roughly 35 miles from Gatwick. We pick up the M23, run clockwise around the M25 to about junction 13, then drop in on the A30 and A308 towards the river, or use the M4 at junction 6 for addresses on the Eton and Slough side. In light traffic that is around 45 minutes. The honest variable is the M25 itself between the airport and Heathrow, which can add fifteen or twenty minutes at the wrong time of day, so for a tight check-in we plan backwards from your flight rather than forwards from the kerb.
Because Windsor is close in, a rideshare looks tempting on price until you are stood in the arrivals hall watching the fare climb and the driver re-route. There is no meet-and-greet, no flight tracking and no fixed number with an app. We have set the two side by side in our look at Uber versus Bolt in London if you want the detail, but the short version is that a booked chauffeur removes the part of the journey people actually dread.
MILE5 is TfL licensed under No. 009161, with over 15 years and more than 50,000 airport journeys behind the wheel and a 5-star Google rating you can check before committing.

Every Gatwick to Windsor transfer includes a meet-and-greet inside North or South Terminal arrivals, flight tracking against your actual landing, and 60 minutes of free wait time. We absorb the £10 Gatwick drop-off charge, handle the luggage, fit child seats on request at an extra charge, and run 24/7. Windsor sits well outside the ULEZ and Congestion Charge zones, so there is nothing extra to add at the far end.
Where in Windsor we drop you
The bulk of arrivals want the town centre, a short walk from the Castle and the High Street, or one of the riverside hotels looking across to Eton. We also run regularly to the Great Park addresses out towards Englefield Green and Old Windsor, to Datchet and Wraysbury along the Thames, and over the bridge into Eton itself for the College and the High Street antiques. The roads immediately under the Castle are tight and often closed for ceremonial movements, so for a central hotel we will set you down at the nearest open point and carry the bags in rather than circle a barrier.
What people come to Windsor for
Windsor Castle is the draw, and it is not a museum piece: it is the oldest and largest occupied castle in the world, founded by William the Conqueror around 1070 and still an official residence of the monarch, used by King Charles III for ceremonies and state occasions. The Round Tower on its mound goes back to Henry II’s stone keep of the 1170s and was raised to its present height in the 1820s, the State Apartments hold Old Masters and the Royal Collection, and the Guard change runs on selected mornings through the year. St George’s Chapel, a high point of Perpendicular Gothic and the spiritual home of the Order of the Garter, is the resting place of Queen Elizabeth II alongside Prince Philip, and of ten earlier monarchs including Henry VIII; it also hosted the 2018 wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.
Beyond the walls, the Long Walk runs dead straight for 2.64 miles from the Castle gates up to the Copper Horse, the equestrian statue of George III crowning Snow Hill, and it is the classic photograph and the best free thing to do in town. Across the bridge, Eton College has schooled since 1440. The Great Park rolls south into Windsor Great Park proper, with the Savill Garden and the lake at Virginia Water, and Legoland is a couple of miles out for families. Royal Ascot, ten minutes away, fills the calendar in June.
What the run to Windsor has taught us
This is a short, busy route, and the lessons are all about the last mile. The streets right beside the Castle close for ceremonial reasons at short notice, so an experienced driver heads for an agreed set-down rather than the exact postcode when the barriers are up. On a Royal Ascot week, or a big event day in the Great Park, the local roads thicken in a way the motorway map will not warn you about, so we build in a buffer. And for an early Windsor to Gatwick run we keep an eye on the M25 around Heathrow, which is the one stretch that can turn a 45-minute hop into an hour. None of it is dramatic, but it is the difference between a calm arrival and a rushed one.
Gatwick terminal pickups
We collect from both Gatwick terminals. Send the flight number, we follow it down, and your chauffeur is waiting inside North or South Terminal arrivals with a name board before you are through baggage. If you are not sure which terminal your airline uses, our North Terminal guide and South Terminal guide set out the arrivals halls and exactly where to find the driver. For the return leg you can watch the live board and follow your inbound aircraft on the Gatwick flight information page.

Gatwick to Windsor transfer FAQs
How much is a Gatwick to Windsor transfer?
Fixed fares start at £209 in the E-Class for up to three passengers, £305 in the S-Class, and £312 in the seven-seat V-Class. The fare is identical in both directions and covers meet-and-greet, flight tracking and waiting time.
How long does the journey take?
Usually 45 to 65 minutes for the 35 miles, with the M25 around Heathrow the main variable. We track your flight and choose the cleaner approach on the day.
Do you cover Windsor to Gatwick for the outbound flight?
Yes. The Windsor to Gatwick leg is the same fixed price and the same chauffeur service. Tell us your departure time and we set the pickup to land you at the terminal with room to spare.
What if my flight is early or delayed?
We track the inbound aircraft, so the driver is there for the actual landing rather than the timetable, and the 60 minutes of complimentary wait covers the walk through arrivals and any baggage delay.
Can you drop right at the Castle or a central hotel?
We get you as close as the roads allow. The streets directly under the Castle are often closed for ceremonial movements, so we agree the nearest open set-down and carry the bags the last short stretch.
Can you also take us to Legoland or Ascot?
Yes. Both sit a few minutes from Windsor and we run them regularly. Mention it when you book and we will price the right drop, whether that is the Legoland entrance or the Ascot enclosures.
Will the driver meet me inside the terminal?
Every time. Your chauffeur waits inside North or South Terminal arrivals with a name board and takes the luggage from the hall. No kerbside hunt, no extra meeting fee.
Pairing Windsor with the rest of your trip
Windsor is the natural base for the royal and landmark west, and the same fixed-price fleet covers the obvious add-ons. Families almost always tack on our Gatwick to Legoland Windsor transfer just up the road, and racegoers pair it with the run to Ascot for the June meeting. Push further west and the same cars handle our Gatwick to Stonehenge transfer and the day-trip into the Cotswolds, while shoppers head for Bicester Village and theatregoers for Stratford-upon-Avon.
For the Thames Valley and Wales beyond it, the same long-distance service runs our Gatwick to Reading route and the longer haul to Cardiff. All of it sits under our Gatwick long distance transfers hub, with the complete range on the main luxury Gatwick airport transfer page, and MILE5 runs chauffeured trips well beyond Gatwick too, which you can browse from our main airport transfer site.
