Gatwick to Thorpe Park Transfer – One Car, Whole Group, Fixed Price
A Gatwick to Thorpe Park transfer is a fixed-price Mercedes chauffeur, around 45 to 65 minutes door to door and from £193 in an E-Class, running both ways. The park has no station of its own, so a single car straight to the gates beats the alternative every time. MILE5 meets you inside Gatwick arrivals, and the Thorpe Park to Gatwick return runs on the same fixed fare – handy when the group is wiped out after a day on the coasters.
It’s a short run – about 30 miles. We take the M23 to the M25 and head clockwise towards Chertsey, leaving at Junction 11 or 13 for the final stretch into the resort, usually 45 to 65 minutes. There’s no easy rail line: the nearest stations are at Staines or Chertsey, then a seasonal bus or a taxi, which from Gatwick means crossing London first. For a group of friends, juggling train tickets, a London change and a connecting bus is rarely simpler than one fixed-price car.
MILE5 holds TfL Operator Licence No. 009161, with 15+ years and more than 50,000 airport transfers behind it and a 5-star Google rating. We track the flight, so an early or late landing just moves your pickup.

The V-Class is the obvious pick for this run – seven seats means the whole group travels together in one car. Every transfer includes inside-terminal meet-and-greet at Gatwick North or South arrivals, flight tracking, 60 minutes of free wait, the £10 Gatwick drop-off charge, and full luggage handling. Child seats, at an extra charge, if there are younger riders in the party. Door to door, 24 hours a day.
The coasters you came for
Thorpe Park, out at Chertsey in Surrey, bills itself as the country’s most thrilling park, and the headline ride backs it up. Hyperia opened in May 2024 as the tallest and fastest rollercoaster in the UK – a Mack Rides hypercoaster topping out at 236 feet, hitting 81 miles an hour, with the tallest inversion in Europe. It’s the reason a lot of groups make the trip. But it’s far from the only one: Stealth fires you from nought to 80 in under two seconds up a vertical top hat, the looping Colossus throws inversion after inversion, Nemesis Inferno runs inverted through its volcano, and The Swarm flies you wing-first past near-misses.
It’s a compact island park, which works in your favour – you can hit the big four in a day without a route march. The catch is queues. Hyperia draws the longest lines, and on busy days its queue can close before the park does, so it pays to ride it early or late rather than at midday. A car that drops you at the gates as they open buys you those first low-queue laps.
Plan the day right
Two things shape a good Thorpe Park visit. First, the park runs a season – broadly late March to early November, with the Fright Nights Halloween events extending into autumn – so it’s closed through much of winter; check the calendar before you fix travel. Second, pre-book your tickets. Walk-up prices are higher and busy days can sell out, and the same goes for the single-day Hyperia fast-track passes if you want to skip the worst of that queue.
If you’re making a weekend of it, the on-site Thorpe Shark Cabins put you next to the gates for an early start, and we can drop you at the accommodation rather than the day car park. For an arriving-flight group starting the trip straight off the plane, that’s one less transfer to think about.
Chauffeur versus the app for a group day
| Option | Door to the gates? | Seats a group of seven? | Price certainty |
|---|---|---|---|
| MILE5 chauffeur | Yes – dropped at the entrance | Yes, in one V-Class | Fixed before you travel |
| Train + bus | No – via London, then bus | Spread across seats | Several fares each |
| Drive + park | Yes, then park and walk | If you’ve a big enough car | Fuel + parking fee |
The ride-hailing apps don’t fit a day like this. The premium tiers – the kind compared in our Uber Exec vs Uber Lux guide – won’t hold a fixed fare across 30 miles each way, can’t seat seven in one car, and may surge on a sunny weekend. A pre-booked chauffeur sidesteps all three: one car, one price, agreed up front.
What this route has taught us
From running it: ride Hyperia first. The queue only grows, and being at the gate when they open is the single biggest thing a transfer can do for your day. If you’ve booked the cabins, an early arrival the night before sets up a clean morning. And on the Thorpe Park to Gatwick return, build in a buffer for an evening flight – the M25 around Junction 11 thickens at going-home time, and a tired group in the back appreciates not being rushed. Tell us the party size when you book so we send the V-Class straight off rather than two smaller cars.
Gatwick terminal pickups
We meet groups inside both Gatwick terminals – North and South only, never T2 to T5. The driver waits in arrivals with a name board; our North Terminal guide and South Terminal guide show where. For the trip home, follow your inbound on the live arrivals board through the Gatwick flight information page – that’s how we keep the Thorpe Park to Gatwick pickup on the actual landing time.

Gatwick to Thorpe Park – FAQs
How much is a Gatwick to Thorpe Park transfer?
From £193 in a Mercedes E-Class (up to 3), £282 in an S-Class, and £286 in a V-Class for up to 7. The Thorpe Park to Gatwick return is the same fixed price, with no surge and no hidden fees – your final quote depends on exact postcode and vehicle.
Can you take a group of seven in one car?
Yes – the Mercedes V-Class seats up to seven plus luggage, so the whole group travels together on a single fixed fare.
Is there no train to Thorpe Park?
The park has no station of its own. The nearest are Staines and Chertsey, then a seasonal bus or taxi – and from Gatwick that means crossing London first. A direct car is simpler and the price is fixed up front.
Is the park open all year?
No – Thorpe Park runs a main season from roughly late March to early November, with Fright Nights events into autumn. It’s closed for much of winter, so check the calendar before you fix travel.
What if our flight into Gatwick is delayed?
We track it from departure, so a late landing just shifts the pickup, and you keep the 60 minutes of complimentary wait once you’re through arrivals.
Will you cover the return after a long day?
Yes. The Thorpe Park to Gatwick leg is the same fixed price, and most groups book both ways so the ride home is already sorted when the energy runs out.
Other theme parks and days out from Gatwick
Thorpe Park is one of three theme-park runs we cover from Gatwick. For families with younger children, our Gatwick to Legoland Windsor transfer (from £211) suits the under-tens, while Gatwick to Chessington (from £163) pairs rides with the zoo for a mixed-age group.
All three sit within our long-distance Gatwick transfers, part of the wider Gatwick airport transfers range we run across the South East. Whatever the party size, we’ll match the right vehicle to it.
