Gatwick to The Twenty Two Transfer – Door to Door on Grosvenor Square
A Gatwick to The Twenty Two transfer is a fixed-price Mercedes chauffeur, around 70 minutes to an hour and forty door to door and from £240 one way in an E-Class, running both directions at any hour. Your driver meets you inside arrivals and brings you to the arched black doors at 22 Grosvenor Square, in the quiet northwestern corner of Mayfair. No working out the Tube with cases, no surge fare, just one price fixed before you fly, into and out of Gatwick alike.
The Twenty Two sits at 22 Grosvenor Square, W1K, on the north-west corner of the square it takes its name from. From Gatwick it is roughly 32 miles. We run the M23 to the M25, drop into town on the A23, then work west across the centre to Mayfair, switching to the orbital approach via the A40 when the West End is gridlocked. Plan for about 70 minutes late evening and up to an hour and forty in the thick of rush hour. Grosvenor Square has a one-way system around the garden, so the trick at the far end is approaching from the right side to reach the door without a lap of the square.
If you are weighing it against the train, the Gatwick Express runs to Victoria in about half an hour, then it is the Victoria line to Green Park and a walk up into Mayfair. With a small bag that is fine. Add suitcases, a second person or a late landing and the appeal fades, because you finish on foot through Mayfair rather than at the door. Our Gatwick to The Twenty Two transfer keeps it to one car and one fixed price, and we run The Twenty Two to Gatwick the same way when you check out.
MILE5 holds TfL private hire Licence No. 009161, has fifteen years and more than fifty thousand airport transfers behind it, and a 5-star Google rating from passengers who have ridden with us. We are not a broker passing your job on. The car you book is the car that turns up.

Every Gatwick to The Twenty Two transfer comes with a meet-and-greet inside the terminal at North or South Terminal arrivals, your driver holding a name board rather than waiting in a car park. We track your flight, so an early touchdown or a delay is handled before you reach the hall. Standard on every booking: sixty minutes of complimentary wait time, the £10 Gatwick drop-off charge absorbed, full luggage handling, child seats on request at an extra charge, and delivery to the door on Grosvenor Square. Gatwick is in West Sussex, outside the ULEZ and Congestion Charge zones, and where either applies on the London leg it is absorbed into the fare. We run 24 hours, every day of the year.
Where We Deliver Around Grosvenor Square
Grosvenor Square is the largest of Mayfair’s garden squares, six acres of plane trees in the middle of the most expensive postcode in London, and The Twenty Two sits on its quieter north-west corner. We deliver to the door. Bond Street Underground is a short walk north for the Elizabeth, Central and Jubilee lines, with Oxford Street beside it and Marble Arch a few minutes north-west. The square itself carries a lot of history: it was the home of the American Embassy for decades, and it holds the memorials to Roosevelt and Eisenhower and the garden remembering the British victims of 11 September.
For guests staying on, this is Mayfair at its most central. The shops of Bond Street and Mount Street are a few minutes’ walk, the galleries and auction houses around Cork Street the same, and Hyde Park is a short stroll west for a morning walk. The old US Embassy on the square’s west side is being turned into a hotel of its own, part of the steady shift of this corner from diplomatic quarter to residential and hospitality address, which is the change The Twenty Two was built to ride.
The Twenty Two – What You Are Arriving Into
The Twenty Two opened in April 2022 and was one of the more talked-about London openings of recent years. It is three things in one building: a 31-room boutique hotel, an all-day restaurant open to the public, and a private members’ club, set inside a Grade II-listed Edwardian manor on the square, its name simply its address. The project was the work of hotelier Navid Mirtorabi, formerly of Blakes in South Kensington, with Jamie Reuben, and the interiors were the first hotel commission for the designer Natalia Miyar.
What you notice is the tone. Where the older Mayfair grande dames trade on restraint, The Twenty Two leans into a playful, French-inflected maximalism: velvet, bold wallpaper that climbs onto the ceilings, a marble-floored lobby and staff in tailoring by Charlie Casely-Hayford. The restaurant runs all day on British cooking with a southern-European accent under chef Alan Christie, and the club downstairs has its own living room, dining room, music room and bar. Hotel guests get the run of the place. It is a deliberately less stuffy take on a Mayfair address, and it has drawn a younger, more creative crowd to a square better known for embassies and peers.
Chauffeur, Train or App Car – the Honest Comparison
For a central Mayfair address the real alternatives are the Gatwick Express with a Tube hop, or a metered cab or app car from the airport. The train is cheapest for a lone traveller with light luggage: half an hour to Victoria, then the Victoria line to Green Park and a walk. Where it loses out is the moment you have proper luggage or a late flight, when the walk through Mayfair with cases is the opposite of arriving in style. A black cab or premium app ride is the closest like-for-like to a chauffeur, but those run metered or surge-priced and a 32-mile airport job in traffic can climb past our fixed figure, with no driver waiting inside the terminal. If you are weighing the premium app tiers, our look at Uber Exec versus Uber Lux in London shows what those badges actually deliver on a long run. Our fare is fixed at booking.
What This Route Has Taught Us
The thing to get right here is the square itself. Grosvenor Square runs one-way around the central garden, so a driver who picks the wrong side ends up circling it before reaching the door, which is the last thing you want after a long flight. I approach to land on the north-west corner directly. The other lesson is timing into Mayfair: the West End between roughly four and seven on a weekday is slow, so an afternoon arrival wants the longer end of the estimate. The Twenty Two to Gatwick run in the other direction is usually smoother off an early start, but I still build in a margin for the M25. Groups and anyone with a stack of cases should take the V-Class, simply because the boot copes where an E-Class will not.
Gatwick Terminal Pickups
Your driver meets you inside the building at North Terminal or South Terminal arrivals, name board up, once you clear baggage reclaim. We confirm the terminal at booking and track the flight, so the timing follows your real landing rather than the schedule. To keep an eye on the inbound yourself, the live arrivals board on our Gatwick flight information page lets you check the status before you set off. If it is your first time through, the North Terminal guide and South Terminal guide set out where the meeting point is and how long the walk from the gate runs.

Gatwick to The Twenty Two – FAQs
How much is a Gatwick to The Twenty Two transfer?
It starts from £240 one way in a Mercedes E-Class, £345 in the premium S-Class and £359 in the seven-seat V-Class. The same fixed prices apply both ways, The Twenty Two to Gatwick included, all-inclusive with no surge pricing.
How long does the journey take?
Around 32 miles and roughly 70 minutes to an hour and forty, depending on traffic. The West End and the approach to Grosvenor Square are the variable, so an afternoon or rush-hour arrival sits at the longer end.
Do you cover The Twenty Two to Gatwick as well?
Yes, at the same fixed price. For the departure we set your pickup time around your check-out and the day’s roads, collect you from the door on Grosvenor Square and get you to the correct terminal with time to spare.
What if my flight is delayed?
We track it from departure and adjust to the actual landing time at no extra cost. There are also sixty minutes of complimentary wait time built in, which covers the walk to arrivals and any queue at passport control.
Where exactly does the driver meet me?
Inside the terminal building at North or South Terminal arrivals, with a name board, once you are through baggage reclaim. The driver helps with the bags out to the car, so there is no searching a car park.
Which Mercedes suits my group?
The E-Class takes up to three with normal luggage and the S-Class is the same capacity with more room and a more formal finish. For four to seven passengers, or a smaller group with a lot of cases, choose the V-Class so nobody rides with a bag on their lap.
Is the Gatwick drop-off charge included?
Yes. The £10 Gatwick drop-off charge is built into your fixed fare, as is the ULEZ where it applies on the London leg. What you see at booking is what you pay.
