Gatwick to The Ned Hotel Transfer – Met at Arrivals, Driven to Poultry
A Gatwick to The Ned Hotel transfer is a fixed-price Mercedes chauffeur, around 70 to 95 minutes door to door and from £229 one way, running in both directions 24/7. You step off your flight, your driver is already inside the terminal holding your name, and the next time you stop the car is at the kerb on Poultry, in the heart of the City. The same applies on the way out: we collect from The Ned and have you back at North or South Terminal with time to spare, no meter ticking on the way.
The Ned sits on Poultry, EC2, in the old Midland Bank headquarters between Bank junction and Mansion House. From Gatwick that is roughly 32 miles by road. We run the M23 up to the M25, then come into the City either over Blackfriars or down through Vauxhall and along the Embankment depending on what the traffic is doing that hour. Reckon on 70 to 95 minutes in normal conditions; a weekday arrival into the morning peak, or a Friday getaway, can push the back end of that, and we plan the pickup time around your flight rather than a fixed slot.
The train is the honest alternative, and for a single traveller travelling light it is not a bad one – Gatwick Express to Victoria, then the Tube to Bank. The catch is the City end. Bank station is a warren of stairs and tight interchanges, and you arrive at The Ned hauling cases through it during rush hour. With a chauffeur you skip all of that, and if there are two or three of you the door-to-door fare often lands close to three separate rail-plus-Tube fares anyway.
MILE5 is a TfL licensed operator (No. 009161) with over 13 years and 50,000-plus airport transfers behind it, and a 5-star Google rating you can read through on our client reviews page. Same drivers, same cars, whether it is a single arrival or a standing weekly booking.

Where We Drop You at The Ned
The Ned’s main entrance is on Poultry, the short street that links Bank junction to the Mansion House and Queen Victoria Street. It is a busy, narrow stretch with active loading restrictions, so the practical drop-off is right at the front doors where the doormen handle arrivals, or a few yards along on Princes Street if Poultry itself is blocked by deliveries. Your driver knows which works on the day. If you are heading for one of the members’ areas upstairs or the rooftop, you go in through the same grand banking-hall entrance regardless.
The hotel occupies Sir Edwin Lutyens’ 1924 Midland Bank building, and the ground-floor banking hall – all verde antico columns and walnut – is now the cluster of restaurants that gives The Ned its character. The location puts you a two-minute walk from Bank station and the Royal Exchange, five minutes from the Bank of England Museum, and within easy reach of St Paul’s, the Guildhall, and the lanes around Cornhill. For anyone here on business, the Square Mile’s offices are quite literally on the doorstep.
What Brings People to The Ned
The Ned has become one of the City’s social anchors since it opened, and a fair share of our passengers are not staying the night at all – they are coming in for dinner, a meeting in one of the private rooms, or to use Ned’s Club. Cecconi’s, Kaia, Malibu Kitchen and the other ground-floor restaurants share that vast hall, and on a weekday evening the place is genuinely full. The rooftop, with its pool and bar looking across to the Royal Exchange and the Walkie-Talkie, is the draw in summer, though access there is restricted to members and hotel guests.
It works as a base, too. From The Ned you are walking distance to the Bank of England Museum, a short hop to St Paul’s Cathedral and the wobbly Millennium Bridge across to Tate Modern, and close to the Guildhall and its art gallery, which sits over the remains of London’s Roman amphitheatre. The City empties out at weekends, which makes it surprisingly calm for sightseeing on a Saturday morning – and easy for us to get you in and out. Note that some of the in-house restaurants and the club spaces have a smart dress code, worth knowing before you arrive straight off a flight.
Chauffeur, Train or Taxi to The Ned
| Option | Door to door? | Roughly |
|---|---|---|
| MILE5 chauffeur | Yes – terminal to the door on Poultry | 70-95 min, fixed price |
| Gatwick Express + Tube | No – Victoria, then change for Bank | 60-80 min plus the walk with bags |
| Airport taxi / rideshare | Yes, but metered | Variable – surges at peak and on delays |
The maths is straightforward. On your own with a backpack, the train wins on price and is perfectly comfortable. With luggage, a colleague or two, or a late arrival when the last thing you want is the Bank station interchange, the fixed-price chauffeur is the easier call – and unlike a metered taxi or an app, the price you see when you book is the price you pay, however long the M25 decides to take.
What This Route Has Taught Us
A few things we have learned running the Gatwick to The Ned transfer over the years. Poultry is one of the busier kerbs in the City for deliveries between about 7am and 10am, so for an early drop we often come in via Queen Victoria Street and approach from the Mansion House side, which is cleaner. For the return – The Ned to Gatwick – book the pickup earlier than feels necessary if you have a flight before midday; the City to M25 stretch through Vauxhall or over Blackfriars is unforgiving in the morning peak, and we would rather wait at the hotel than have you watching the clock. And if you are arriving for an evening table at one of the restaurants rather than a room, tell us at booking – we will treat it as a timed drop, not a check-in, and you walk straight in.
Gatwick Terminal Pickups
We meet every arrival inside the terminal. Whether you land at North Terminal or South Terminal, your driver tracks the flight, parks up, and waits in the arrivals hall with a name board near the exit from baggage reclaim – no hunting around a pickup zone. If you want to know exactly where to head once you are through, our North Terminal guide and South Terminal guide walk through the arrivals layout, and you can confirm your inbound time or check for delays on the Gatwick flight information page, which links straight to the live arrivals board. We watch the same board, so a delayed flight or a quick one through immigration both just shift the meet automatically.

How long does the journey take?
Around 70 to 95 minutes for the roughly 32 miles between Gatwick and The Ned on Poultry, via the M23 and M25. A weekday morning peak or a Friday evening can run to the longer end, which is why we set the pickup around your flight.

What happens if my flight is delayed?
We track your flight from the moment it leaves, so the pickup time adjusts to your actual landing automatically. There is no charge for the delay, and you get 60 minutes of complimentary wait time after the flight lands.
Where will my driver meet me?
Inside the terminal. Your driver waits in the arrivals hall at North or South Terminal with a name board, near the exit from baggage reclaim, and helps with your luggage to the car.

Yes – the V-Class seats up to 7 with room for luggage, which suits families and small groups. If you are not sure which vehicle fits your party and cases, call us before booking and we will advise.
