Gatwick to The Kensington Hotel Transfer – Door to Door in South Kensington
A Gatwick to The Kensington Hotel transfer is a fixed-price Mercedes chauffeur, around 65 minutes to an hour and a half door to door and from £235 one way in an E-Class, running both directions at any hour. Your driver waits inside arrivals with your name, then takes you straight to the white-stucco frontage on Queen’s Gate, in the heart of South Kensington’s museum quarter. No District line with your cases, no surge fare, just one price agreed before you fly. To be clear, this is the route to The Kensington hotel on Queen’s Gate, not the wider district.
The Kensington sits at 109-113 Queen’s Gate, SW7, a few minutes’ walk from the Natural History Museum and the V&A. From Gatwick that is roughly 30 miles, and South Kensington is one of the more reachable central addresses from this side of London. We run the M23 up to the M25, drop in on the A23, then cut west along Cromwell Road towards Queen’s Gate. Reckon on about 65 minutes when the roads are quiet and up to an hour and a half through the daytime. Queen’s Gate is a wide residential boulevard, so the set-down at the hotel door is easy once we are off Cromwell Road.
The honest alternative is rail. The Gatwick Express reaches Victoria in around half an hour, then it is the District or Circle line a few stops to South Kensington and a short walk to Queen’s Gate. With light bags and no rush that works. Add suitcases, a family or a late landing and the appeal fades fast, because the South Kensington interchange involves a long pedestrian tunnel that is no fun with a trolley. Our Gatwick to The Kensington Hotel transfer is one car, one fixed price, and we run The Kensington Hotel to Gatwick the same way when you are heading home.
MILE5 is a TfL licensed operator (Licence No. 009161) with fifteen years and more than fifty thousand airport transfers behind it, and a 5-star Google rating from passengers who have ridden with us. We are not a booking broker. The car you reserve is the car that arrives.

Every Gatwick to The Kensington Hotel transfer includes a meet-and-greet inside the terminal at North or South Terminal arrivals, your driver waiting with a name board rather than texting from a car park. We track your flight, so an early landing or a delay is dealt with before you reach the hall. Built in as standard: sixty minutes of complimentary wait time, the £10 Gatwick drop-off charge absorbed, full luggage handling, child seats on request at an extra charge, and delivery to the hotel entrance on Queen’s Gate. Gatwick sits in West Sussex outside the ULEZ and Congestion Charge zones, and where either applies on the London leg we absorb it. The service runs 24 hours a day, every day of the year.
Where We Deliver Around South Kensington
Queen’s Gate runs north to south through South Kensington, from Kensington Gardens down past the Cromwell Road museums, and the hotel sits on its southern stretch below Cromwell Road. We deliver to the door. South Kensington Underground is about five minutes on foot for the District, Circle and Piccadilly lines, and Hyde Park is a similar walk north for a morning by the Serpentine. The area is nicknamed Albertopolis after Prince Albert, whose vision created the cluster of institutions around it.
Those institutions are the reason a lot of people book this run. The Natural History Museum, the Science Museum and the Victoria and Albert all sit within a few minutes of the door, and the hotel regularly ties its rates to whatever major exhibition the V&A is running. The Royal Albert Hall is a short walk up Exhibition Road for a Proms night or a concert, Imperial College is on the same stretch, and the shops of Brompton Road and Harrods are a few minutes east. It is a leafy, residential pocket of the West End, which is part of the appeal after a long flight.
The Kensington Hotel – What You Are Arriving Into
The Kensington is part of the Doyle Collection, the Irish family-owned group whose other London hotels are the Marylebone and the Bloomsbury. The building is not one house but a row of 19th-century white-stucco townhouses, knocked through and turned into a hotel more than a century ago, with the pillared and porticoed frontage that South Kensington is known for kept intact. Inside it runs to around 150 rooms and suites, and the public rooms lean into the period: high ceilings, open fires, heritage decor and drawing rooms designed to feel more like a well-kept private house than a corporate lobby.
The dining sits in the same register. The Town House restaurant spreads across interconnecting Regency rooms, afternoon tea is a fixture, and the K Bar is the tucked-away spot for a cocktail. What sets the place apart from the grander Mayfair names is the tone: it is luxury without the formality, which suits the museum-and-galleries crowd it draws. The location does a lot of the work, but the townhouse character is the reason guests come back rather than picking one of the bigger chains a mile east.
Chauffeur, Train or App Car – the Honest Comparison
For a central address like Queen’s Gate the genuine options are the Gatwick Express plus the Underground, or a metered cab or app car from the airport. The train is the cheapest way in for one person travelling light: half an hour to Victoria, then a few stops on the District line. The catch is the South Kensington station tunnel and the walk at either end, which turns into a slog with luggage. A black cab or premium app ride is the closest match to what we do, but those are metered or surge-priced, and a 30-mile airport job in afternoon traffic can run past our fixed figure with no driver waiting for you inside the terminal. If you are weighing the app options, our comparison of Uber versus Bolt in London shows how the pricing tends to behave on longer trips. With us the number is fixed at booking.
What This Route Has Taught Us
The thing I have learned on this one is that Cromwell Road is the whole story. It is the main artery into South Kensington from the west and it backs up at predictable times, so an afternoon arrival wants the longer end of the estimate. The approach I prefer is to come off it onto Queen’s Gate rather than fighting the museum-front traffic on Exhibition Road, which crawls whenever a big show is on. The Kensington Hotel to Gatwick run in the other direction is usually quicker if it starts early, but I still build in a buffer because the M25 is the M25. And if you are a family in town for the museums, take the V-Class: the boot swallows the buggies and cases that an E-Class will not.
Gatwick Terminal Pickups
Your driver meets you inside the building at North Terminal or South Terminal arrivals, name board up, once you are clear of baggage reclaim. We confirm the terminal at booking and track the flight, so the timing follows your real landing rather than the schedule. To watch the inbound yourself, the live arrivals board on our Gatwick flight information page lets you check the status before you set off. If it is your first time through a given terminal, the North Terminal guide and South Terminal guide explain where the meeting point sits and how long the walk from the gate takes.

Gatwick to The Kensington Hotel – FAQs
How much is a Gatwick to The Kensington Hotel transfer?
It starts from £235 one way in a Mercedes E-Class, £339 in the premium S-Class and £352 in the seven-seat V-Class. The same fixed prices apply both ways, The Kensington Hotel to Gatwick included, all-inclusive with no surge pricing.
How long does the journey take?
Around 30 miles and roughly 65 minutes to an hour and a half, depending on traffic. Cromwell Road into South Kensington is the deciding factor, so a daytime or rush-hour arrival sits at the longer end of that range.
Is this the hotel or the Kensington district?
This page is the route to The Kensington hotel at 109-113 Queen’s Gate, SW7. If you would rather book by area for any address across the wider neighbourhood, use our Gatwick to Kensington district transfer instead, linked below.
Do you cover The Kensington Hotel to Gatwick as well?
Yes, at the same fixed price. For your departure we set the pickup time around your check-in and the day’s roads, collect you from Queen’s Gate and get you to the correct terminal with time to spare.
What happens if my flight is delayed?
We track it from departure and adjust to the actual landing time at no extra charge. You also have sixty minutes of complimentary wait time built in, which covers the walk to arrivals and any hold at passport control.
Which Mercedes should I book?
The E-Class takes up to three passengers with normal luggage and the S-Class is the same capacity with more space and a more formal finish. For four to seven people, or a smaller group with a lot of cases, the V-Class is the one to choose, which is the usual pick for families in for the museums.
Is the Gatwick drop-off charge included?
Yes. The £10 Gatwick drop-off charge is absorbed into your fixed fare, as is the ULEZ where it applies on the London leg. The price quoted at booking is the price you pay.
Other Kensington, Chelsea and Bayswater Transfers
The Kensington sits in our Kensington, Chelsea and Bayswater cluster, so if you are choosing between the townhouse hotels of west London we run them all at the same fixed standard. Round the corner on Hyde Park Gate, the Gatwick to Delano London transfer from £235 reaches the former Baglioni, reopening as Delano London, opposite Kensington Gardens, while across in Chelsea the Gatwick to The Cadogan transfer from £197 serves the Belmond hotel on Sloane Street. North of the park, the Gatwick to Royal Lancaster transfer from £238 covers the Bayswater landmark over Hyde Park, and the Gatwick to Six Senses London transfer from £238 the new wellness hotel inside the restored Whiteley.
If you would rather book by area than by hotel, our Gatwick to Kensington district transfer from £234 covers any address across the neighbourhood. The full set sits on the Gatwick hotel transfers hub, and the main Gatwick airport chauffeur page lays out the wider service. MILE5 runs the same fixed-price chauffeur model across Heathrow and Gatwick, so a South Kensington booking works exactly like any other route with us.
