Gatwick to The Connaught Transfer – Mayfair, Door to Door

A Gatwick to The Connaught transfer is a fixed-price Mercedes chauffeur, around 75 to 100 minutes door to door and from £239 one way, running both directions 24/7. Your driver meets you inside the terminal, handles the bags, and brings you to The Connaught on Carlos Place in the heart of Mayfair – no Tube, no changes, no walking the last stretch with luggage. Flying out, we reverse it: collect from the hotel and return you to North or South Terminal in good time.

See your fixed price

The Connaught stands on Carlos Place, the short street linking Mount Street to Grosvenor Square in the middle of Mayfair. From Gatwick the run is around 30 miles. We take the M23 to the M25 and come into the West End via the A23 and Vauxhall, then up through Mayfair, or round the south of Hyde Park depending on the hour. Allow 75 to 100 minutes. Mayfair’s streets are narrow and one-way in places, so the final approach to Carlos Place is the fiddly part, not the motorway – your driver knows the run-in, and we build the timing around your flight.

You could take the Gatwick Express to Victoria and the Tube to Bond Street or Green Park, then walk in to Carlos Place, and for a solo traveller with a small bag it is doable. The catch is the walk through Mayfair with cases at the end, and the interchange in between. A chauffeur takes you to the door instead, and with two or more travellers and their luggage it keeps everyone and every case in one car.

MILE5 is TfL licensed (No. 009161), with 15-plus years and more than 50,000 airport transfers behind it, and a 5-star Google rating you can read on our client reviews page. The same standard of car and driver turns up whether it is a single arrival or a regular booking.

Where We Drop You at The Connaught

The hotel’s entrance is on Carlos Place, the quiet street that opens off Mount Street, with the well-known Tadao Ando water feature in the small square outside. The kerb there is tight and Mayfair’s streets are tightly managed, so the drop is a contained, doorman-handled affair right at the entrance – we come in from Mount Street or Grosvenor Square depending on the one-way system that day. Bond Street and Green Park Underground stations are each a short walk, and you are in the middle of Mayfair’s galleries, restaurants and shopping.

The location is among the best in central London for anyone who wants Mayfair at its quietest and most refined. Mount Street, immediately outside, is one of the city’s smartest shopping streets, lined with fashion houses, the old butchers and the restaurants around it. Grosvenor Square is a minute away, Berkeley Square and its plane trees a little further, and the auction houses, dealers and galleries of the art trade are all within a short walk. Bond Street and its jewellers are close, and Hyde Park is a few minutes west.

What Brings People to The Connaught

The Connaught is one of Mayfair’s most established grand hotels, known for its restaurants and the long-celebrated Connaught Bar, and many of our arrivals here are guests on a special London trip or business travellers who want a discreet Mayfair address. A good number combine the stay with the galleries, the auction houses and the shopping on Mount Street and Bond Street, and the hotel’s bars and dining rooms draw plenty of non-resident bookings in their own right.

As a base, The Connaught puts the best of Mayfair on the doorstep and the rest of central London within easy reach. Mount Street and Bond Street cover the shopping; the art trade – dealers, the auction houses and the gallery clusters – is all around; and Grosvenor and Berkeley Squares give the area its green, residential calm. Walk west and you reach Hyde Park; walk south and you are into Piccadilly, the Royal Academy and St James’s. It suits the visitor who wants to be at the centre of London’s smartest district without the noise of the main tourist drags, which is the kind of trip this hotel has always served.

Airport taxi / rideshareYes, but meteredVariable – surges at peak and on delays

For a single traveller with light luggage the rail-and-Tube route is cheap enough, even if the Mayfair walk at the end is a faff. The chauffeur makes sense with bags, a group, or a late arrival when you would rather be driven to Carlos Place than thread through Bond Street with cases – and the fare is fixed when you book, so the traffic does not change it.

What This Route Has Taught Us

The lesson on this one is all in the last half-mile. Mayfair’s one-way streets and tight kerbs mean the approach to Carlos Place matters, and an experienced driver saves you the worst of it by coming in from the right direction – we route the run-in deliberately rather than follow a sat-nav into a delivery queue. For a Connaught to Gatwick departure with an early flight, the run out of Mayfair to the M25 is clean before the morning peak, so we will suggest a pickup time that keeps it unhurried. And if you are coming in for a table at the restaurant or the bar rather than to check in, say so at booking – we treat it as a timed drop straight to the door.

Gatwick Terminal Pickups

Every arrival is met inside the terminal. Land at North Terminal or South Terminal and your driver has already tracked the flight and is waiting in the arrivals hall with a name board near the baggage-reclaim exit. For where to head once you are through, our North Terminal guide and South Terminal guide walk through the arrivals layout, and you can check your inbound time or any delay on the Gatwick flight information page, which links to the live arrivals board. We watch it too, so an early or delayed landing simply shifts the meet.

How long does the journey take?

Around 75 to 100 minutes for the roughly 30 miles to Carlos Place, via the M23 and A23. The Mayfair approach is usually the slow part rather than the motorway, so we set the pickup around your flight.
