Gatwick to The Cadogan Transfer – To the Sloane Street Door
A Gatwick to The Cadogan transfer is a fixed-price Mercedes chauffeur, around 55 to 90 minutes door to door and from £197 one way, in both directions all year. The hotel sits on Sloane Street at the corner of Pont Street, on the line where Chelsea meets Knightsbridge and five minutes’ walk from Harrods. It is a residential, well-mannered stretch of London, and arriving at the door in a quiet car suits it far better than wheeling cases off the Tube at Sloane Square.
The run is about 28 miles. From Gatwick we take the M23 to the M25, then the A23 inbound, crossing the river towards Chelsea and Belgravia to reach Sloane Street from the south. On clear roads that is 55 minutes; in the weekday peak, allow 80 to 90. Sloane Street itself is straightforward to stop on outside the rush, which makes the handover at the door clean – the variable is the traffic getting across town, not the address.
If you are travelling light, the Gatwick Express to Victoria and a short hop down is the cheaper route and an honest one. The chauffeur earns its place with luggage, a late arrival, or a group: one fixed fare, a driver who meets you inside the terminal, and no Tube interchange at the far end. MILE5 has run airport transfers for 15+ years across more than 50,000 journeys, holds a TfL private hire licence (No. 009161), and we would rather you judged us on the 5-star reviews passengers leave on Google than on our own copy.

We cover the £10 Gatwick drop-off charge on the return, absorb ULEZ where it applies, handle the luggage, fit child seats on request at an extra charge, and deliver to the door. The line runs 24 hours a day, every day of the year.
Chelsea and Knightsbridge on the Doorstep
The address buys you one of the best-placed corners in west London. Harrods is a five-minute walk up towards Knightsbridge, Sloane Square and the start of the King’s Road are a few minutes the other way, and the designer length of Sloane Street is directly outside the door. Belgravia is next door, Hyde Park and the museums of South Kensington are within easy reach, and the whole quarter is residential enough that it stays calm in the evenings. For a guest here to shop, to visit, or simply to enjoy a quiet base in the smartest part of town, the location does most of the work.
The trade-off for a driver is small on this run: Sloane Street is wide and the kerb outside the hotel is workable outside peak hours, so the handover is usually easy. The real planning is the cross-town traffic to reach it. If your stay will spread along the King’s Road and the wider neighbourhood, our Gatwick to Chelsea chauffeur service (from £196) is the area-wide version of this run, covering the streets down towards the river and the World’s End end of Chelsea.
Where Oscar Wilde Was Arrested
Few London hotels carry their history as openly as The Cadogan. The red-brick building went up in 1887 in the Queen Anne style local to this part of Chelsea, and quickly became the centre of the neighbourhood’s social life. The actress and socialite Lillie Langtry – a mistress of the future Edward VII – lived in part of it, and when she sold up she did so on the condition that she could keep living there. And it was here, in Room 118, that Oscar Wilde was arrested in April 1895. That room is now part of the Royal Suite, and the hotel leans into the story rather than hiding it.
After years of decline the building was restored at considerable expense and reopened in February 2019 as The Cadogan, A Belmond Hotel – owned by the Cadogan estate and run by Belmond. It is a small hotel by central London standards, with 54 rooms and suites, which is part of its appeal. Guests get a marble-topped bar, afternoon tea in the lounge, the modern European restaurant The LaLee – named for Langtry – and, rarest of all in central London, a key to the private Cadogan Place Gardens across the road, with its lawns and tennis courts. It is a hotel built to make you feel like a Chelsea resident rather than a tourist, and a discreet Mercedes to the door fits that brief.
Chauffeur or a Hire Car into Chelsea
Some visitors arriving for a longer Chelsea stay wonder whether to pick up a hire car at Gatwick instead. For a central base like The Cadogan, it rarely pays off: parking in Knightsbridge and Chelsea is scarce and expensive, ULEZ applies, the Congestion Charge starts as soon as you drive into the centre, and a car sitting unused on a meter costs more than it is worth. A chauffeur transfer gives you the door-to-door arrival without any of that, and you simply use taxis, the Tube or your own feet once you are here. We set out the fuller case in our guide on hiring a chauffeur instead of renting a car, which is worth a read if you are weighing the two for a London trip.
What the Cadogan Run Has Taught Us
A few practical notes. The cross-town leg is the variable on this route, so for an evening arrival we build in a buffer rather than promise a time the traffic can’t keep. The hotel sits on the Sloane Street corner with Pont Street, and there is a discreet Pont Street entrance the staff use for guests who prefer it – worth knowing if you would rather slip in quietly. On the return, the Cadogan to Gatwick leg before about seven in the morning is reliably quick with the roads empty, but we still pad the schedule for the terminal walk and bag drop. And for a family or a group, the V-Class seats up to seven – tell us the case count when you book so we send a car that fits the luggage as well as the people.
Pickups from Gatwick North and South Terminal
Land at either terminal and your driver is inside the arrivals hall with a name board, not waiting out in a car park. New to the airport? The Gatwick North Terminal guide and the South Terminal guide show exactly where the meeting points are and how the two terminals link up. We follow your inbound on the live Gatwick arrivals board and set the pickup to your real landing time, with 60 minutes of free wait covering passport control and reclaim.

Gatwick to The Cadogan – FAQs
How much is a Gatwick to The Cadogan transfer?
A Gatwick to The Cadogan transfer is from £197 in a Mercedes E-Class (up to 3 passengers), £288 in an S-Class, and £292 in a V-Class for up to 7. The fare is fixed at booking and the same in both directions, so The Cadogan to Gatwick costs the same.
How long is the journey from Gatwick?
Around 55 to 90 minutes for the 28 miles into Chelsea, depending on traffic. Off-peak it is close to the hour; the weekday rush across town is the slow window in both directions.
Can you collect me from The Cadogan for my flight home?
Yes. The Cadogan to Gatwick leg runs at the same fixed price, picking up from the Sloane Street entrance. Send us your flight time and we will set a pickup with comfortable margin for the right terminal.
What if my flight is delayed?
We track it on the live Gatwick arrivals board and move the pickup to your actual landing time at no extra cost, with 60 minutes of free wait included for immigration and baggage.
Where will my driver meet me?
Inside the terminal – in the arrivals hall at Gatwick North or South, holding a board with your name, ready to take the bags to the car.
Which Mercedes should I choose?
The E-Class suits one to three travellers with standard luggage, the S-Class is the same capacity with a more formal finish, and the V-Class carries up to seven – the choice for families, groups or a heavy case count. Tell us the luggage when you book.
Can I add a stop on the way in?
Yes – mention it at booking. A short stop nearby, such as Knightsbridge or Belgravia, usually fits the run, and we will confirm any effect on the fixed fare in advance.
Other Chelsea and Kensington Hotels
The Cadogan sits in our Kensington and Chelsea cluster, so the close comparisons are easy to weigh up. A Gatwick to The Kensington transfer (from £235) holds a townhouse address near the South Kensington museums, while a Gatwick to Delano London transfer (from £235, the former Baglioni) sits opposite Kensington Gardens. For something newer, a Gatwick to Six Senses London transfer (from £238) covers the wellness-led hotel in the restored Whiteley on Queensway.
Over by Hyde Park, a Gatwick to Royal Lancaster London transfer (from £238) rounds out the same side of town. To compare every property side by side, the Gatwick hotel transfers hub lists each one with fixed fares, and the main luxury Gatwick airport transfer page covers the wider service across London.
