Gatwick to The Biltmore Mayfair Transfer – Grosvenor Square, Door to Door

A Gatwick to The Biltmore Mayfair transfer is a fixed-price Mercedes chauffeur, about 75 to 95 minutes door to door and from £240 one way, running in both directions 24/7. You land, walk into arrivals, and your driver is waiting with a name board – no app to open, no queue at a rank, no surge if three flights come in together. The same chauffeur service runs The Biltmore Mayfair to Gatwick for your outbound, set to your flight time.

The Biltmore Mayfair stands at 44 Grosvenor Square, on the green heart of Mayfair, with its red-brick frontage looking straight onto the square. From Gatwick that is around 28 miles, up the M23 and then the A23 through south London before the drop into the West End. In normal traffic the journey takes 75 to 95 minutes; a weekday rush hour can add half an hour, and a clear early Sunday can shave it down. We track your inbound flight and base the pickup on when the wheels actually touch down, not the printed schedule.

The cheaper option on paper is the Gatwick Express to Victoria, around 30 minutes, then a taxi or the Tube on to Bond Street. It works for a single traveller with a small bag. With a couple of suitcases, a shopping run already planned, or a tired arrival at the end of a long-haul, the changes and the final mile usually cost more time and effort than they save. We will say so honestly when the train genuinely is the better choice for your trip.

MILE5 has been doing this for over 15 years across more than 50,000 airport transfers. We are TfL Licensed (No. 009161), fully insured, and carry a 5-star Google rating you can check through our client reviews before booking. The fare is fixed and agreed before you set off – the number you see is the number you pay.

The E-Class carries up to three passengers with luggage and suits a solo business arrival or a couple. The S-Class holds the same number with a more formal finish for an executive trip or an occasion. The V-Class seats up to seven and is the right call for a family, a group, or the kind of luggage a saloon cannot take – useful given how often guests arrive here for an event at the hotel. Every fare includes an inside-terminal meet-and-greet at North or South Terminal arrivals, live flight tracking, 60 minutes of complimentary wait time, the £10 Gatwick drop-off charge absorbed, ULEZ covered where it applies, full luggage handling, child seats on request at an extra charge, and delivery to the hotel entrance on Grosvenor Square. It runs 24/7, all year.

Grosvenor Square and the heart of Mayfair

Grosvenor Square is one of London’s largest garden squares and the centre of gravity for this part of Mayfair. The Biltmore takes the prime position at No. 44, and a drop-off here puts you within a few minutes’ walk of the things people come to Mayfair for. New Bond Street and its run of flagship boutiques is a short stroll east; Mount Street, Berkeley Square and the galleries around them sit to the south; and Selfridges and the full sweep of Oxford Street are just to the north. Claridge’s and The Connaught are near neighbours, and Hyde Park is a few minutes west when you want the air.

For drivers, the square works on a one-way system around its central garden, and the hotel’s main entrance now faces the square itself – the Grosvenor Square frontage is the front door, with the older arrival point on Adam’s Row to the rear. We bring you to the right side without circling, which matters more here than people expect given how the square loops. If you are in town to shop, the location is about as good as Mayfair gets, and we are happy to hold bags in the car between stops on a half-day booking.

The hotel and the square’s history

The building went up between 1967 and 1969 to a design by Richard Seifert, one of the most prolific architects of post-war London, and wore several names over the decades – latterly the Millennium Hotel London Mayfair. A redevelopment costing around £50 million reopened it on 9 September 2019 as The Biltmore Mayfair, which launched as the first property in Europe for Hilton’s LXR luxury collection. It has run as an independent hotel since 2024, no longer tied to Hilton, under its own management. Behind the classical red-brick face are more than 300 rooms and suites, several of the suites named after figures connected to the square’s past.

That past is unusually rich. For much of the twentieth century Grosvenor Square was effectively London’s American quarter: the United States Embassy sat on its west side from 1960 until 2018, General Eisenhower ran his wartime headquarters from No. 20, and the square still holds a statue of Franklin D. Roosevelt at its centre. Go further back and No. 44 itself has a footnote in the story of Waterloo – news of Wellington’s 1815 victory first reached members of the Cabinet at a dinner on this very spot. Inside today, the dining runs from Grill 88, the hotel’s contemporary steakhouse, to the all-day Café Biltmore and its terrace, with afternoon tea in the Tea Lounge and cocktails in The Pine Bar. A 500 square-metre ballroom makes it one of Mayfair’s busier addresses for weddings and large events, which is part of why we run so many group cars in and out of here.

Chauffeur, taxi or ride-hail

For a central Mayfair address the practical comparison is a fixed-price chauffeur against a black cab or a ride-hail app. A cab off the Gatwick rank is metered, so a long motorway run with a traffic delay can climb in a way you cannot see coming, and the app price that looks low at a quiet hour tends to jump the moment demand rises. The trade-offs between the main London app and minicab options are laid out in this look at Addison Lee versus Uber in London, but the short of it is that a chauffeur fixes the number in advance, puts a named driver inside arrivals before you reach the doors, and includes an hour of free wait if you are slow through immigration – none of which a meter or a surge model will give you. For a guest arriving for a wedding or a board dinner at The Biltmore, that predictability is usually worth more than a few pounds saved.

What the route has taught us

A few practical notes from running this one regularly. Grosvenor Square’s one-way loop means the approach matters – tell us which entrance suits you and we will time it so you are not dropped on the far side of the garden with cases. Event days are the main thing to plan around: if you are arriving for a function in the ballroom, the front of the hotel gets busy, so a slightly earlier pickup from Gatwick takes the pressure off. For an early outbound, book the car the night before and let us watch the morning M25, where the stretch back towards the airport is the part that catches people out. And for The Biltmore Mayfair to Gatwick we apply the same flight-led timing in reverse, leaving enough room for bag-drop without a long wait at the terminal.

Meeting you at Gatwick

The pickup runs the same whichever terminal you land at. At North Terminal or South Terminal your chauffeur waits inside the arrivals hall with a name board, your flight already checked – the North Terminal guide and the South Terminal guide show exactly where the arrivals meeting points are if you want to picture it first. We follow your flight on the Gatwick flight information page, where you can also watch the live arrivals board, so an early or delayed landing simply moves the pickup – you do not need to call ahead. For The Biltmore Mayfair to Gatwick we collect from Grosvenor Square at the agreed time and run straight to your terminal.

Gatwick to The Biltmore Mayfair – FAQs

How much is a Gatwick to The Biltmore Mayfair transfer?

A Gatwick to The Biltmore Mayfair transfer is fixed from £240 one way in a Mercedes E-Class, £346 in the S-Class, and £359 in the seven-seat V-Class. The fare is identical the other way, The Biltmore Mayfair to Gatwick, agreed before you travel with no surge pricing and nothing added at the end.

How long does the journey take?

Around 75 to 95 minutes for the roughly 28 miles, via the M23 and the A23. Add time in weekday rush hour and expect less early on a quiet morning. Since we track your flight, the timing is built around when you actually land.

Where will my chauffeur meet me at Gatwick?

Inside the arrivals hall at North or South Terminal, holding a name board, with your landing time already checked. There is no kerbside rank to find and no car park to walk to – you come through and your driver takes the bags.

What happens if my flight is delayed?

Nothing changes for you. We monitor the inbound flight and move the pickup to your real arrival, and every booking carries 60 minutes of free wait after touchdown to cover passport control and baggage reclaim.

Do you also cover The Biltmore Mayfair to Gatwick?

Yes – the route runs both ways at the same fixed fares. For a departure we collect from the Grosvenor Square entrance at a time set around your flight, with margin built in for the M25 and check-in, and take you direct to your terminal.

Can you handle a group or wedding party?

Yes. The Biltmore is a busy events hotel, and the V-Class takes up to seven passengers with luggage, so we regularly run several cars together for wedding parties and corporate groups arriving from Gatwick. Tell us numbers and we will size the fleet to match.

Is the Gatwick drop-off charge included?

Yes. The £10 Gatwick drop-off charge is built into your fixed fare, along with ULEZ where it applies, so the quote stands as the final price.
