Gatwick to Streatham Transfer – Door to Door Across SW16
A Gatwick to Streatham transfer is a fixed-price Mercedes chauffeur, around 35 to 55 minutes door to door and from £166 one way, running in both directions 24/7. You land, your driver is already inside the terminal holding your name, and you walk straight to the car. No rank, no app, no surge – just a fare agreed before you fly.
Streatham sits about 22 to 24 miles north of the airport, and the drive is one of the most direct we make into South London. From the terminals you join the M23, which feeds onto the A23, and that single road carries you up through Coulsdon and past Croydon into Streatham from the south. There is a detail worth knowing here: Streatham High Road is itself a stretch of the A23, the very road that runs down to Gatwick. So your driver is following one continuous route from the airport door to your door. Off-peak that is 35 to 55 minutes; weekday rush hours on the High Road can add a fair bit, which is why we track your flight and time the pickup to the landing, not the schedule.
If you are travelling light, the train is a genuine option – Gatwick into Victoria, then a change onto a Streatham service. The catch is that change, dragging cases across a London terminus and onto a suburban platform. For most arrivals with luggage, a family, or a late landing, a car that meets you and goes straight there is the easier call. MILE5 has run London airport transfers for over 13 years and more than 50,000 journeys, we are fully TfL licensed (No. 009161), and the work is backed by a 5-star Google rating you can read through on our client reviews.

All prices are fixed, all inclusive, and start from the amounts shown. Final quote depends on exact postcode, vehicle choice, and any additional stops. No surge pricing, no hidden fees.
The E-Class seats up to three with luggage and is the standard choice; the S-Class is the same journey with more space and a higher finish; the V-Class takes up to seven, which is the one most Streatham families pick for the school run home from the airport. Every fare includes a meet-and-greet inside North or South Terminal arrivals, flight tracking, 60 minutes of complimentary wait time, the £10 Gatwick drop-off charge, ULEZ where it applies, full help with luggage, free child seats on request, and delivery to your actual front door. We quote it once and that is the price, whether you land on time or three hours late.
Where We Drive in Streatham
Streatham runs roughly north to south along the A23, and most of the area is built around that spine. At the northern end is Streatham Hill, with its mansion blocks and the “ABC roads” off the main road; the middle is the High Road proper, the long shopping run that gives the place its reputation as one of the longest high streets in the country; and the southern end opens onto Streatham Common and the quieter streets of Streatham Vale. We cover all of it in SW16, plus the residential pockets like Telford Park and Roupell Park that sit just off the main drag. Drop-offs split fairly evenly between the period conversions near the three stations – Streatham, Streatham Hill and Streatham Common – and the larger family houses up towards the common. Tell us the postcode when you book and the driver plans the approach around it, because the High Road itself can be slow and the side-street access is often the faster way in.
What Brings People to Streatham
For somewhere most visitors file under “residential South London”, Streatham carries more history than it lets on. In the 18th century it was a spa: natural springs known as the Streatham Wells were thought to be good for the health, and wealthy City of London merchants built country houses out here to take the waters. You can still find the spot. The Rookery, a walled ornamental garden on the southern slope of Streatham Common, sits on the grounds of one of those old spa houses and was opened to the public in 1913; its Old English Garden, White Garden and rock garden survive today, and it hosts outdoor theatre through the summer. The common itself is a proper open space, woodland and meadow on the upper half with long views back over the city, and it carries a small footnote: Van Gogh sketched it in 1875 and described the wet spring grass in a letter to his brother.
The Victorian and Edwardian decades turned the village into a suburb, and for a stretch of the 20th century Streatham was called the West End of South London – it had a theatre, a ballroom, cinemas and an ice rink all at once. Henry Tate, the sugar magnate who founded the Tate Gallery, lived at Park Hill by the common and paid for the local library. The ice rink is the survivor of that era and then some: the Streatham Ice and Leisure Centre on the High Road reopened in 2013 with an Olympic-sized rink, one of very few full-size sheets of ice in London, and it is still home to a hockey club that traces back to 1932. Between the common, the Rookery and the rink, a good number of our weekend runs out here are leisure trips rather than business ones.
Train, Ride-hailing or Chauffeur
Because Streatham sits close in, the honest comparison is short. The train is cheap and frequent if you can travel light: Gatwick to Victoria takes around 30 to 45 minutes, then you change for a Southern service back out to one of the Streatham stations. Add the connection, the wait and the walk at each end and a light traveller does fine; a family with three cases and a pushchair has a harder afternoon. Ride-hailing is the other option, and it works until it does not – fares on Uber or Bolt swing with demand, surge after a delayed evening flight is real, and there is no one meeting you airside (if you are weighing those apps up, our Uber versus Bolt comparison breaks down how the pricing actually behaves at Gatwick). A chauffeur is the fixed-price middle: dearer than the train, steadier than the apps, and the only one of the three where the price you are quoted is the price you pay, surge or no surge, delay or no delay.
What the Route Has Taught Us
The A23 is the whole story on this run, and it has moods. Mid-morning and early afternoon it flows and you are in Streatham inside 40 minutes. The weekday peaks are slower, and the pinch point is almost always the High Road itself rather than the motorway – that long shopping stretch backs up, so on a tight return to the airport I will often cut a driver off the A23 earlier and bring them down through the side streets. For drop-offs, the residential roads off the High Road are easy; the few addresses right on the main road can mean a short hop on foot with the cases, and we will tell you that rather than circle. If you are on an early flight out, book the return the night before and we will set the pickup for the dark hours when the A23 is empty and Streatham to Gatwick drops to barely half an hour. And if you are heading for the common, the Rookery or an event at the ice rink, give us the exact entrance, because the parking around there fills fast on a sunny weekend.
Terminal Pickups at Gatwick
Gatwick has two terminals, North and South, and your driver meets you inside arrivals at whichever one your flight lands at – not at a distant car park, and never at a rank. We track the flight from take-off, so a diversion or an early arrival is already accounted for by the time you are through the doors. If you want to know your terminal before you travel, the airline confirms it, and you can check live arrival times and gate information on the Gatwick flight information page. For the layout once you are on the ground, our North Terminal guide and South Terminal guide show exactly where the meeting point sits relative to the baggage halls, which saves a few minutes on the way out.

Gatwick to Streatham Transfer FAQs
How much is a Gatwick to Streatham transfer?
A Gatwick to Streatham transfer starts from £166 in the Mercedes E-Class, £244 in the S-Class and £246 in the seven-seat V-Class. The price is the same in both directions, fixed at the time of booking, and includes the meet-and-greet, flight tracking and waiting time – there is no surge and nothing added on the day.
How long does the journey take?
Around 35 to 55 minutes for the 22 to 24 mile run up the A23, depending on the time of day. Off-peak it is closer to 40 minutes; weekday rush hours on Streatham High Road can stretch it. We track your flight and set the pickup to your actual landing so the clock starts when you are ready, not before.
Do you cover the Streatham to Gatwick direction too?
Yes. The Streatham to Gatwick leg is priced exactly the same and runs just as often. For early departures we recommend booking the pickup the night before; in the quiet early hours the Streatham to Gatwick drive can fall to little more than half an hour, and we build in time so you reach the terminal unhurried.
What happens if my flight is delayed?
Nothing on your side. We monitor the flight from departure, so if you land early or late the driver adjusts and is there when you clear the terminal. The 60 minutes of complimentary wait time covers the usual immigration and baggage queues, and because the fare is fixed a delay never changes the price.
Where exactly will the driver meet me?
Inside the arrivals hall of your terminal, North or South, holding a name board. You do not need to find a rank or a pickup zone outside. The driver helps with your bags and walks you to the car, which is the part that matters most after a long flight with luggage.
Can you take a whole family with luggage?
Yes. The V-Class seats up to seven with room for cases and is the usual choice for families coming back into Streatham. Child and booster seats are free on request – just tell us the ages when you book so the right seats are fitted before the driver leaves for Gatwick.
Which parts of Streatham do you serve?
All of SW16 – Streatham Hill at the north end, the High Road and town centre in the middle, Streatham Common and Streatham Vale to the south, and the residential roads off the main A23 in between. Give us the postcode and the driver routes the final approach around it.
Streatham and the Wider South London Network
Streatham is one stop on a chain of South London runs we cover, and the neighbouring areas price below it because they sit closer to the airport. The Gatwick to Croydon transfer is the closest of the set from £156, straight down the A23 before you reach Streatham; Sutton is the lowest-priced borough on this side from £150; and Brixton, the next town north along the same corridor, runs from £174. Further east the prices climb a little: a Gatwick to Greenwich transfer is from £215 and Lewisham from £215, both a touch longer across South-east London.
If you are still settling on a destination, the Gatwick to London transfer hub lays out every central and inner-London area we run to with current pricing, and the main Gatwick airport transfers page covers the full picture across hotels, London and the wider region. Streatham itself is handled as one of those London routes, with the same fixed pricing and meet-and-greet as everywhere else we go.
