Gatwick to Sevenoaks Transfer – Met at Arrivals, Driven Door to Door
A Gatwick to Sevenoaks transfer is a fixed-price Mercedes chauffeur, around 40 to 55 minutes door to door and from £170 in an E-Class, running in both directions 24/7. We meet you inside the terminal, watch your flight in case it shifts, and drive straight to your address – whether that is a house off the Knole side of town or a hotel near the High Street. Going the other way, we collect you in Sevenoaks for the early run back to the airport. No meter, no surge, no dragging cases onto a connecting train.
Sevenoaks sits about 26 miles north-east of the airport, in the west Kent Weald. The drive runs up the M23, round the M25 to roughly junction 5 or 6, then drops into town on the A21 and A25. Off-peak it is a clean 40-minute run; when the M25 between the M23 and the A21 turn-off clogs, allow nearer 55. The honest alternative is the train. From Sevenoaks into London it is excellent, with fast services to Charing Cross, Cannon Street and London Bridge in around half an hour. From Gatwick, though, there is no direct line – you change at Redhill or loop through the capital, which turns a short hop into ninety minutes with cases. That awkward connection is the whole reason this Sevenoaks to Gatwick run makes sense.
MILE5 is a TfL-licensed private hire operator (Licence No. 009161) with 15+ years and more than 50,000 airport transfers behind us, and a 5-star Google rating from the people we have driven. The car you book is the car that turns up, at the fixed price you were quoted.

Every transfer to Sevenoaks includes an inside-terminal meet-and-greet at North or South Terminal arrivals, with your driver waiting in the hall holding a name board. We track your flight, so a delay or an early touchdown just moves the pickup – the fare does not change. You get 60 minutes of complimentary wait time, the £10 Gatwick drop-off charge absorbed, ULEZ and congestion costs covered where they apply, full help with the luggage, child seats on request at an extra charge, direct door-to-door delivery, and a service that runs 24/7/365.
Where We Drive in and Around Sevenoaks
Most runs end in the town itself – the streets climbing off the High Street, the residential roads towards Knole, or one of the hotels and inns near the centre. Tell the driver early whether you want the station end (handy if someone is carrying on into London) or the Knole side, because the one-way system and the narrow top of the High Street reward a bit of planning.
Plenty of journeys carry on past the town. The Darent valley villages just north are a regular drop: Otford with its listed duckpond on a roundabout, and Shoreham under the lavender fields at Castle Farm. East of town we run people out to Ightham Mote, the moated medieval manor the National Trust looks after, and west to Chartwell, Winston Churchill’s family home above Westerham. Riverhill and Emmetts Garden, both on the greensand ridge, fill the spring and early-summer diary. If your address is in Otford, Kemsing, Seal or Riverhead rather than central Sevenoaks, give us the postcode and the fixed price holds to the door.
What Brings People to Sevenoaks
The town is named after its trees: the Old English Seouenaca meant the place of the seven oaks, after a cluster that stood near a Saxon chapel in what is now Knole Park more than a thousand years ago. The famous modern seven were planted in 1902 on the edge of the Vine cricket ground for the coronation of Edward VII. In the Great Storm of October 1987, the night Michael Fish is still teased about, six came down in winds topping 100mph and the town woke to a single survivor; they were replanted, and a row of oaks of varying ages lines the Vine today. That ground is one of the oldest in England, first recorded in 1734 for a Kent against Sussex match organised by a Sackville of Knole and handed to the town in 1773 by the 3rd Duke of Dorset. The land had been a vineyard for the Archbishops of Canterbury, which is where its name comes from. It is a working club ground, so on a summer Saturday you can watch a match on a pitch with three centuries of history under it.
Knole is the reason most first-time visitors come, and it dominates the south end of town. It began in the mid-15th century as a palace for Thomas Bourchier, Archbishop of Canterbury, was taken by Henry VIII, and passed to the Sackville family, who have lived here for over 400 years and still do, though the National Trust has run the house since 1946. It ranks among the five largest houses in England. The legend, popularised by the writer Vita Sackville-West, is that it is a calendar house with 365 rooms, 52 staircases, 12 entrances and seven courtyards; the Trust is gently honest that the tidy numbers do not quite add up. Inside are Reynolds, Gainsborough and Van Dyck portraits and a Stuart furniture and tapestry collection that is internationally important, including the famous high-backed Knole Sofa. Climb the 77 steps of the Gatehouse Tower and the whole 1,000-acre medieval deer park opens up below – Kent’s last, grazed by wild fallow and sika deer, and a Site of Special Scientific Interest you can walk into free on foot. Vita was born here, and it is the house Virginia Woolf turned into the setting for Orlando.
There is more history here than one stately home. Sevenoaks School, at the foot of the High Street, was founded in 1432 by William Sevenoke, a local foundling who grew up to be Lord Mayor of London and endowed the school and its almshouses in thanks. It is one of the oldest lay foundations in the country and now a flagship for the International Baccalaureate. The Times named Sevenoaks the best place to live in the South East in 2022, crediting the fast London trains, the schools and the greenery – the same things that make it a steady run for us in both directions.
Sevenoaks Transfer Options Compared
| Option | Door-to-door time | With luggage | Fixed price |
|---|---|---|---|
| MILE5 chauffeur | Around 40-55 min | Loaded and carried for you | Yes, quoted upfront |
| Train | 90 min plus, no direct line | Change at Redhill or via London with cases | Varies by time of day |
| Airport taxi rank | Around 40-55 min | Fine, but no meet inside | Metered, can climb in traffic |
| Hire car | Around 50 min plus desk time | You drive and park it | Plus fuel, parking and excess |
If you are touring Knole, Ightham Mote and Chartwell over a couple of days, our note on why a chauffeur often beats renting a car is worth a read – the parking and the unfamiliar Kent lanes are what people underestimate.
What the Sevenoaks Run Has Taught Us
A few things I have picked up driving this one. The M25 is the variable, not the A21 – the Sevenoaks end is quick, so if a pickup time matters, we are really planning around the M23-to-Sevenoaks stretch of the motorway. For the early flight back, I would build in a proper margin: a 6am Gatwick check-in means leaving Sevenoaks well before the M25 wakes up, and that is exactly when a fixed-price Sevenoaks to Gatwick car booked the night before earns its keep. If your destination is Knole itself or one of the Trust properties, give us the actual visitor entrance postcode rather than the village name, because the lanes around here split hairs. And on the rare big day near the Vine, tell us, and we will set off a touch earlier and drop a street back.
Pickups at Gatwick North and South Terminal
We collect from both Gatwick terminals. Your driver meets you inside arrivals – at the North Terminal or South Terminal hall, depending on your airline – holding a name board, so there is no kerbside scramble. If you are not sure which terminal you land at, our North Terminal guide and South Terminal guide walk through the arrivals layout and where the meeting point sits. Because we flight-track every job, you can also check your inbound on the Gatwick flight information page and watch the live arrivals board the same way we do – if the plane is early or late, your driver simply adjusts and the fixed fare stands.

Gatwick to Sevenoaks Transfer FAQs
How much is a Gatwick to Sevenoaks transfer?
A Gatwick to Sevenoaks transfer starts from £170 in a Mercedes E-Class (up to 3 passengers), £250 in the premium S-Class, and £253 in the V-Class for up to 7. The price is fixed and the same in both directions, confirmed when you book – no meter and no surge.
How long does the transfer take?
Around 40 to 55 minutes for the roughly 26 miles between the airport and Sevenoaks. The Sevenoaks end is fast; the variable is the M25, so for tight timings we plan around the motorway.
Do you also do Sevenoaks to Gatwick?
Yes. The Sevenoaks to Gatwick direction is the same fixed price, and for early departures it is the easy option – we collect from your door before the M25 fills up, rather than you wrestling cases through a train change at that hour.
What happens if my flight is delayed?
Nothing changes on your side. We track your flight from the moment you book, so if you land late or early the driver adjusts and the fixed fare stays the same. You also get 60 minutes of complimentary wait time after landing.
Will the driver meet me inside the terminal?
Yes. Your driver waits inside North or South Terminal arrivals with a name board and helps with the bags, so there is no looking for a car at the kerb.
Can you take us to Knole or other Kent attractions?
We can. Plenty of Sevenoaks runs go on to Knole, Ightham Mote, Chartwell or the Darent valley villages. Give us the visitor entrance postcode and any extra stops when you book, and the fixed quote covers the door.
How many people and bags fit?
The E-Class and S-Class seat up to 3 with luggage; the V-Class takes up to 7 passengers and is the one to choose for a family with several cases or a small group touring the area.
Sevenoaks, Kent and the Rest of Our Network
Sevenoaks is one of our Kent runs, and it sits within the wider Gatwick long-distance transfer service that covers the towns and destinations beyond London. It also forms part of everything we do from the airport, mapped out on the main Gatwick airport transfers hub.
If you are touring this side of the county, the neighbouring routes pair naturally with Sevenoaks. We run the cathedral city on our Gatwick to Canterbury transfer from £263, the spa town on the Royal Tunbridge Wells transfer from £200, and the county town on our Gatwick to Maidstone transfer from £204. For the Eurostar and the coast there is the Gatwick to Ashford International transfer from £246, and the obvious day-trip companion to Knole is Gatwick to Leeds Castle from £217, a short hop further into Kent.
MILE5 covers far more than Gatwick, with chauffeur and airport transfer service across London and beyond. The reviews behind our 5-star Google rating are collected on our client testimonials page if you want to see what other travellers have said before you book.
