Gatwick to Bournemouth Transfer – Door to the Sandy Coast

A Gatwick to Bournemouth transfer is a fixed-price Mercedes chauffeur, around 1 hour 50 to 2 hours 20 door to door and from £359 one way, running in both directions 24/7. We meet you inside the terminal, track the flight, and drive the 95 miles down to a seafront hotel, a Boscombe address, or somewhere quieter along the cliffs, with no changes and the bags handled for you. The same car runs Bournemouth to Gatwick when it is time to fly home.

See your fixed price

Bournemouth is about 95 miles from the airport. We take the M23 to the M25, run down the M3, then cross onto the M27 and finish on the A31 and the Bournemouth spur into town. A clear run is close to 1 hour 50. The variables are the usual two: the M25 between Gatwick and the M3, and the New Forest stretch of the A31 on a summer weekend, when day-trippers fill it. We watch both and set the pickup against your flight rather than a flat timetable.

The train is workable for one traveller, but there is no direct line from Gatwick, so you change in London or along the south coast and still need a taxi at the far end. Once there are two of you, a family, or a boot full of holiday luggage, a car that runs from your terminal seat to the hotel steps is the easier call long before it is the faster one.

Every Gatwick to Bournemouth transfer includes a meet-and-greet inside North or South Terminal arrivals, live flight tracking so the driver follows your real landing, and 60 minutes of complimentary wait time. The £10 Gatwick drop-off charge is absorbed, the luggage is carried for you, child seats are available on request at an extra charge, and we run 24/7. There is no Congestion Charge or ULEZ on this route, so the quoted fare is the whole fare.

Where along the coast we deliver

Most arrivals want a seafront or town-centre hotel near the pier and the Lower Gardens, or one of the cliff-top places on the East and West Cliff. We also run east to Boscombe and Southbourne, inland to Winton and Charminster, and out to the quieter ends at Hengistbury Head and Christchurch. Plenty of these bookings carry on to Sandbanks and Poole next door, and to the New Forest just behind. The seafront roads get busy and the cliff drops are exact, so for a beach hotel a precise postcode lands you at the right entrance rather than a clifftop above it.

What brings people to Bournemouth

The beach is the headline, and it delivers: seven miles of clean golden sand curving round Poole Bay, much of it flying the Blue Flag, with the Victorian pier at the centre and Boscombe pier a mile or so east. It is one of the warmest, most sheltered stretches of the English coast, which is exactly why the town grew from heathland into a resort in the nineteenth century. Running inland from the pier, the Lower and Central Gardens give you a green corridor right through the middle of town, and the wooded chines, Alum and Durley among them, cut down through the pines to the sand.

There is more than buckets and spades. The Russell-Cotes Art Gallery and Museum is a wonderfully eccentric Victorian villa on the East Cliff, packed with the art and curios its owners brought back from their travels, and the Oceanarium sits beside the pier for a wet-weather hour. Boscombe has reinvented itself around its surf and independent shops, and at St Peter’s Church in the town centre the writer Mary Shelley lies buried with the heart of her husband, the poet Percy Bysshe Shelley, a quiet literary footnote most visitors walk straight past.

If you are travelling solo and light, the train is a reasonable shout. For a family beach holiday with cases, buggies and the lot, a car door to door takes the strain off the start and end of the trip. We have set the honest case out in our guide on hiring a chauffeur instead of renting a car, which is worth a read before you book a depot collection.

What the run to Bournemouth has taught us

The honest pinch point on this route is the A31 through the New Forest on a hot weekend, when the whole south coast seems to head the same way. For a Saturday arrival we will often nudge the timing or take an alternative line rather than sit in it, and for a Bournemouth to Gatwick run on a getaway day we leave a clear margin. The seafront itself is the other lesson: the cliff hotels sit above the beach with their own approach roads, and the promenade is one-way in stretches, so an exact entrance postcode saves a frustrating loop with the sea in view but no way down to it. Tell us if Poole or Sandbanks is part of the plan and we will route it in cleanly.

Gatwick terminal pickups

We collect from both Gatwick terminals. Send the flight number, we track it in, and your chauffeur is inside North or South Terminal arrivals with a name board before you clear baggage. If you are unsure which terminal you land at, our North Terminal guide and South Terminal guide walk through the arrivals halls and the meeting points. For the return leg you can check the live board and follow your inbound flight on the Gatwick flight information page.

Gatwick to Bournemouth transfer FAQs

How much is a Gatwick to Bournemouth transfer?

Fixed fares start at £359 in the E-Class for up to three passengers, £521 in the S-Class, and £564 in the seven-seat V-Class. The price is the same both ways and includes meet-and-greet, flight tracking and waiting time.

How long does the journey take?

Around 1 hour 50 to 2 hours 20 for the 95 miles, with the M25 and the New Forest stretch of the A31 the main variables. We track your flight and time the run to match.

Do you cover Bournemouth to Gatwick for the flight out?

Yes. The Bournemouth to Gatwick leg is the same fixed price and the same service. Give us your departure time and we set the pickup with a clear margin for a getaway-day A31.

What happens if my flight is delayed?

Nothing for you to manage. We track the inbound aircraft, so the driver is there for the real landing, and the 60 minutes of free wait covers the walk through arrivals and baggage.

Can you continue to Poole or Sandbanks?

Yes. Both are right next door and we run them often. Mention it when you book and we will route the drop straight through rather than treat it as a separate trip.

Will you take a larger group with beach luggage?

The seven-seat V-Class carries up to seven passengers with room for holiday luggage, buggies and the rest. Tell us the numbers and we will send the right vehicle.

Will the driver meet me inside the terminal?

Every time. Your chauffeur waits inside North or South Terminal arrivals with a name board and takes the bags from the hall. No kerbside scramble, no separate meeting fee.

Pairing Bournemouth with the coast

Bournemouth is one of our south-coast ports and seaside runs, and the cars and the fixed price are the same across all of them. Its immediate neighbour is the harbour town next door, and our Gatwick to Poole transfer pairs naturally with a Bournemouth stay. West along the water, the same fleet handles our Gatwick to Southampton service and the dedicated run to the Southampton cruise terminals for anyone joining a ship. To the east, we cover Portsmouth and the Kent ferry ports of Dover and Folkestone.

Every one of these coastal runs sits under our Gatwick long distance transfers hub, and the complete picture of airports, London and beyond is on the main luxury Gatwick airport transfer page. MILE5 also runs chauffeured journeys well outside Gatwick, which you can explore from our main airport transfer site.
