Gatwick to Bognor Regis Transfer – Fixed-Price Coast Chauffeur

A Gatwick to Bognor Regis transfer is a fixed-price Mercedes chauffeur, around 55 to 75 minutes door to door and from £219 one way, running in both directions whatever the hour. You come through arrivals to a driver already holding your name, your cases go straight into the boot, and you are heading for the coast while the queue at the taxi rank is still forming. No meter, no surge, one agreed price either way.

Bognor lies south-west of the airport, down towards Chichester, so the route leaves the M25 well alone. We usually run the A29 through Pulborough and Slindon, or drop via the A24 and A27, into the top of the town – around 40 miles and 55 to 75 minutes depending on the hour. The A29 is a single carriageway for long stretches, so a tractor or a slow lorry can stack a few minutes onto the middle of the trip; your driver knows the overtaking spots and the alternatives if it backs up. The time is built around your landing, not a flat number on a screen.

If you are one person with a single bag, the train is worth a mention and we will give it to you straight. Southern runs trains from the airport via Horsham, some through to Bognor Regis and some with a change at Barnham, and the trip runs roughly an hour to an hour and a half before you have got from Bognor station to the seafront. Travelling as a pair or a family, with cases and maybe a child seat, the door-to-door car is the simpler answer, and we would rather tell you that than push the bigger booking.

MILE5 has run airport transfers and chauffeur trips for more than fifteen years across over 50,000 journeys, and the same fixed-price, licensed service sits behind every Bognor run, out and back. We are TfL licensed (No. 009161) and hold a 5-star Google rating earned from travellers who book us again and again.

Every Gatwick to Bognor Regis transfer includes an inside-terminal meet-and-greet at North or South Terminal arrivals, live flight tracking, and 60 minutes of free wait time so a slow bag belt costs you nothing. We absorb the £10 Gatwick drop-off charge and ULEZ where it applies, carry the luggage door to door, and fit child seats on request at an extra charge, around the clock – the same on the Bognor Regis to Gatwick leg home. The E-Class suits a couple or a solo traveller, the S-Class steps up the finish for a business arrival, and the seven-seat V-Class at £327 takes a whole family to Butlin’s with all the kit that involves.

Where We Drop You in Bognor Regis

The single most common drop is Butlin’s, on the eastern edge of town at Brooklands – we pull up at the right hotel entrance, whether that is the Shoreline, the Ocean or the Wave, which saves dragging cases across a car park the size of a small village. Into the town proper, the seafront runs along the Esplanade and Marine Drive, with the pier and the older hotels facing the Channel; the centre behind it, around London Road and the Queensway parade, is largely pedestrian, so we set down at the nearest vehicle access. West of the centre, Aldwick is the quieter, leafier side; east, Felpham keeps its own village feel before you reach Middleton and Elmer. Tell us whether it is the resort, a seafront hotel or a house out in the villages, with the road name, and the driver lands you at the door rather than near it.

What Brings People to Bognor Regis

Bognor has been a seaside resort since Sir Richard Hotham started building one out of empty coastline in the 1780s, and it earned its royal half-name the hard way. King George V spent three months convalescing nearby in 1929, and by royal consent that July the town became Bognor Regis – “Regis” being Latin for “of the king”. The same episode gave the town its most-quoted line: “Bugger Bognor”, supposedly the King’s verdict, though whether he ever actually said it is the kind of thing locals will argue about happily. Either way the royal seal stuck, and so did the holiday trade.

Butlin’s is the modern anchor. Billy Butlin had run an amusement park and zoo here from the early 1930s, then opened his full holiday camp at Brooklands in 1960, and it has been a fixture ever since – now a year-round resort with its three hotels, the indoor Splash Waterworld and a packed calendar of music and family weekends. The pier is the older landmark, a Grade II listed Victorian structure that has been knocked about by storms over the years and now runs short, but it still hosts the International Bognor Birdman each summer, when competitors launch home-made flying contraptions off the end in the hope of gliding a few yards before the inevitable splash. There is real heritage in the lanes too: the poet and artist William Blake lived at Felpham from 1800 to 1803, in a cottage that still stands, and is celebrated locally to this day. Add Hotham Park, a Blue Flag beach and some of the better sunshine figures on the south coast, and Bognor earns the day-trip.

What the Route Has Taught Us

A few notes from driving this one regularly. Butlin’s changeover days – Mondays and Fridays in the holidays – put a lot of cars through the Brooklands entrance at once, so for those we aim to arrive either side of the crush and we know which gate is quickest for a hotel drop. The single-carriageway stretch of the A29 is the variable bit, so for a tight outbound flight we leave a margin rather than trust a clear run. Bognor’s seafront parking is tight in summer, so for a front hotel we often set down on the side road and walk the cases over. And the Bognor Regis to Gatwick return for an early flight is the one to book the night before – the roads are empty before dawn, but a 5am taxi from the coast is not something to gamble on. If you are pairing the trip with Chichester, Goodwood or the harbour villages, we can build extra stops in; just say so when you book.

Meeting You at Gatwick

However the Bognor transfer is booked, your driver tracks the flight and is inside the terminal before you reach the hall. At the North Terminal we wait in arrivals past the baggage doors; at the South Terminal, the same, at the meeting point – never a layby or a phone call across a car park. If you want the layout in advance, our North Terminal guide and South Terminal guide show where arrivals comes out and where the driver stands, and the Gatwick flight information page lets you check the live arrivals board and follow the inbound flight before you travel. Gatwick has North and South Terminals only – no numbered terminals – so the meeting point is simple once you know your airline’s side.

Gatwick to Bognor Regis Transfer FAQ

How much is a Gatwick to Bognor Regis transfer?

The run to Bognor Regis starts from £219 in the Mercedes E-Class for up to three passengers, £318 in the S-Class, and £327 in the seven-seat V-Class. The price is fixed, agreed before you travel, the same in both directions, and already covers the meet-and-greet, flight tracking and waiting time.

How long does the journey take, and how far is it?

Around 40 miles and roughly 55 to 75 minutes, heading south-west on the A29 and A24 towards Chichester rather than up the M25. The single-carriageway stretch of the A29 is the part that varies, so an early run is quicker and your driver allows for it.

Do you go straight to Butlin’s?

Yes – Butlin’s at Brooklands is our most frequent Bognor drop. Tell us which hotel you are booked into, the Shoreline, Ocean or Wave, and we take you to that entrance rather than the nearest car park. The return to the airport works the same way.

Do you cover Bognor Regis to Gatwick as well?

Yes. The Bognor Regis to Gatwick leg is the same fixed price and the same service in reverse – collected from your hotel, the resort or a village address, with the morning traffic watched and time built in. For early flights we suggest booking the return the night before.

What happens if my flight is delayed?

Nothing on your part. We track the flight from take-off, so the driver works to your real landing time, and the 60 minutes of free wait covers a slow passport hall or carousel. A delay does not add anything to the fixed price.

How many passengers and bags can you take?

The E-Class and S-Class carry up to three with cases to match; the V-Class seats up to seven and takes a full family’s luggage, a buggy or a stack of holiday bags for Butlin’s. If you are unsure which fits, send the numbers and we will tell you straight.

Do you serve the outlying areas – Aldwick, Felpham, Pagham?

Yes, the whole Bognor Regis area and the surrounding villages, including Aldwick, Felpham, Pagham, Middleton-on-Sea and North Bersted. Give us the postcode and you get a fixed quote for that exact door, both ways.

Sussex Coast and Beyond

Bognor sits on the western end of the Sussex coast routes we drive from Gatwick, and the prices stay close together. Heading east along the shore, the Gatwick to Worthing transfer from £196 reaches the next big resort, and beyond it our Gatwick to Brighton from £178 and Gatwick to Hove from £177 cover the city. Further east still, Eastbourne from £222 brings you to Beachy Head, and for the old town and cliffs towards Kent there is the Gatwick to Hastings transfer from £254.

For everything beyond the capital, the Gatwick long-distance transfers hub lists every coastal and county route, and the main Gatwick chauffeur service page is the place to start if a London hotel or city run joins the same trip. If you are weighing the chauffeur against collecting a car at the airport – a fair question for a family heading to the resort – our guide on choosing a chauffeur over a hire car sets out what self-driving after a flight really costs.
