Gatwick to Bath Transfer – Door to Door, Met at Arrivals

A Gatwick to Bath transfer is a fixed-price Mercedes chauffeur, around 2 hours 20 to 2 hours 45 door to door and from £403 in an E-Class, running in both directions 24/7. We meet you inside the terminal, track your flight, and drive straight to your hotel or address in the city – then collect you the same way for a Bath to Gatwick departure. It is a long run west, so the value of one fixed-price car with your luggage in it, rather than two trains and a change, is the whole point.

See your fixed price

Bath sits about 120 miles west of the airport, in the Somerset hills near Bristol. We run up the M23, clockwise round the M25, then a long stretch west on the M4 to junction 18 and down the A46 into the city. With clear motorways it is about 2 hours 20; the M25 and the M4 around Reading and Swindon are what push it towards 2 hours 45, so we quote a range and plan to the longer end for anything time-critical. The honest alternative is rail, and the Bath Spa service is good – but there is no direct line from Gatwick, so by train you change at Reading or cross London to Paddington, which is a long day with cases. For two or more people, or anyone who would rather not carry luggage across London, the door-to-door car is the easier call both ways.

MILE5 is a TfL-licensed private hire operator (Licence No. 009161) with 15+ years and more than 50,000 airport transfers behind us, and a 5-star Google rating from the people we have driven. The car you book is the car that turns up, at the fixed price you were quoted.

Every transfer to Bath includes an inside-terminal meet-and-greet at North or South Terminal arrivals, with your driver waiting in the hall holding a name board. We track your flight, so a delay or an early landing simply moves the pickup – the fare does not change. You also get 60 minutes of complimentary wait time, the £10 Gatwick drop-off charge absorbed, ULEZ and congestion costs covered where they apply, full help with the luggage, child seats on request at an extra charge, direct door-to-door delivery, and a service that runs 24/7/365.

Where We Drive in and Around Bath

The whole of central Bath is a World Heritage Site, which means tight Georgian streets, a one-way system and a charging Clean Air Zone, so the practical drop is often the hotel forecourt or the nearest loading point rather than a kerb right outside the Abbey. We know the workable stops for the Royal Crescent and Circus hotels, the Gainsborough and the Bath Spa, and the guesthouses up the steep north side of the city. Tell us the hotel or street when you book and we will set you down as close as the layout and the zone allow, and explain it in advance.

Bath also makes a good base for the West Country, and plenty of our runs carry on. Bristol and its airport are close to the west; the Georgian wool towns of Bradford-on-Avon and Lacock sit just east; Stonehenge, Lacock Abbey and the Cotswolds are all within an easy onward leg; and Wells, England’s smallest city, with its cathedral, is a short hop south. If you are combining a city stay with a day out, give us the postcodes and the fixed price holds to each stop.

What Brings People to Bath

Two cities sit on the same spot here, eighteen centuries apart, and both are why people come. The first is Roman. Britain’s only hot springs rise in the centre of Bath, and around 70 AD the Romans built a temple and bathing complex over them, dedicated to Sulis Minerva, and called the place Aquae Sulis. The Roman Baths survive below today’s street level – the steaming Great Bath open to the sky, the sacred spring, and a museum holding the gilt bronze head of the goddess and thousands of coins thrown in as offerings. You cannot bathe in the Great Bath itself any more, but the same thermal water feeds the modern Thermae Bath Spa nearby, whose open-air rooftop pool looks out over the city and is the one place in Britain you can still bathe in natural hot spring water.

The second city is Georgian, built in honey-coloured Bath stone when the place became the most fashionable spa resort in 18th-century England. The architecture is the draw: the Circus and the sweeping Royal Crescent of thirty townhouses by John Wood the Elder and his son, with No.1 Royal Crescent furnished as it was in the 1770s; the Pump Room beside the Abbey, where a trio still plays over afternoon tea; and Pulteney Bridge over the Avon, one of the few bridges in the world lined with shops, with the curved weir below it. Crowning the centre is Bath Abbey, a late Perpendicular Gothic church with fan-vaulted ceilings, on a site where the first king of all England was crowned in 973. The whole city has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1987, and in 2021 it gained a second listing as one of the Great Spa Towns of Europe – a rare double inscription.

It is also a literary and screen city. Jane Austen lived here in the early 1800s and set Northanger Abbey and Persuasion in its drawing rooms and assembly halls; the Jane Austen Centre marks the connection. Mary Shelley wrote part of Frankenstein in the city. More recently the Georgian set-pieces have stood in for Regency London in Bridgerton, which has only thickened the crowds at the Royal Crescent and the Assembly Rooms. Add Sally Lunn’s historic eating house, the Holburne Museum at the head of Great Pulteney Street and the green Skyline walk above the rooftops, and a couple of days fill themselves.

On a run this long it is worth weighing the car against doing it yourself, and our note on why a chauffeur often beats renting a car covers it – 120 miles each way and scarce city parking add up fast when you are tired off a flight.

What the Bath Run Has Taught Us

A few things from doing this one over the years. The distance is fixed but the timing is not, so the M4 around Reading and Swindon and the M25 are where a fixed appointment can slip – we plan to the slower end and set off accordingly. In the city the Clean Air Zone and the one-way system mean the drop is sometimes a short, level walk from the door, and we will tell you that before you arrive rather than circle. For a morning flight home, a Bath to Gatwick car booked the night before means leaving while the M4 is quiet, and on a 120-mile leg that early margin matters more than on a short run. And because it is a long way, the comfort of the cabin earns its keep – the S-Class for two who want to sleep it off, the V-Class when there is a family and the luggage to match.

Pickups at Gatwick North and South Terminal

We collect from both Gatwick terminals. Your driver meets you inside arrivals – at the North Terminal or South Terminal hall, depending on your airline – holding a name board, so there is no kerbside scramble. If you are not sure which terminal you land at, our North Terminal guide and South Terminal guide set out the arrivals layout and where the meeting point sits. Because we flight-track every job, you can also follow your inbound on the Gatwick flight information page and watch the live arrivals board the way we do – if the plane lands early or late, your driver adjusts and the fixed fare stands.

Gatwick to Bath Transfer FAQs

How much is a Gatwick to Bath transfer?

A Gatwick to Bath transfer starts from £403 in a Mercedes E-Class (up to 3 passengers), £587 in the premium S-Class, and £641 in the V-Class for up to 7. The price is fixed and the same in both directions, confirmed when you book – no meter and no surge.

How long does the transfer take?

Around 2 hours 20 to 2 hours 45 for the roughly 120 miles between the airport and Bath. It is mostly motorway (M23, M25, M4), so the variables are the M25 and the M4 around Reading and Swindon rather than the run into the city.

Where exactly can you drop me in Bath?

As close to your hotel or address as the city allows. Central Bath is a World Heritage Site with a Clean Air Zone and a one-way system, so the drop is sometimes a short walk from the door. Tell us the destination when you book and we will route to the nearest sensible stop and explain it in advance.

Do you also do Bath to Gatwick?

Yes. The Bath to Gatwick direction is the same fixed price, and for a morning flight it is the simple choice – we collect from your door while the M4 is still quiet, instead of you changing trains with cases at that hour.

What happens if my flight is delayed?

Nothing changes for you. We track your flight from the moment you book, so if you land late or early the driver adjusts and the fixed fare stays the same. You also get 60 minutes of complimentary wait time after landing.

Can you add stops like Stonehenge or the Cotswolds?

We can. Bath sits within reach of Stonehenge, Lacock, Wells and the southern Cotswolds, and a transfer can take in a stop on the way. Give us the extra stops and postcodes when you book and the fixed quote covers them.

How many people and bags fit?

The E-Class and S-Class seat up to 3 with luggage; the V-Class takes up to 7 passengers and is the comfortable choice for a family or group on a journey this length.

Bath and the Rest of Our Network

Bath is one of our heritage and university city runs, and it sits within the wider Gatwick long-distance transfer service that reaches the towns and destinations beyond London. It is also part of everything we do from the airport, set out on the main Gatwick airport transfers hub.

The sister cities in this group pair naturally with a Bath visit. The West Country neighbour is our Gatwick to Bristol transfer from £410; the two great university cities are the Gatwick to Oxford transfer from £292 and the Gatwick to Cambridge transfer from £321; and the cathedral cities run through the Gatwick to Winchester transfer from £284 and the Gatwick to Salisbury transfer from £324, the last of which pairs well with Stonehenge on the same side of the country.

MILE5 covers far more than Gatwick, with chauffeur and airport transfer service across London and beyond. The reviews behind our 5-star Google rating are gathered on our client testimonials page if you want to read what other travellers have said before you book.
