Terminals at Gatwick Airport

Gatwick Airport has two terminals, linked by a free shuttle that runs 24 hours a day and takes about three minutes:

  • North Terminal – home to all easyJet flights (Gatwick’s largest airline), plus long-haul carriers including Emirates and Qatar Airways. TUI flights numbered TOM also depart from here. Our North Terminal guide covers the layout in detail.
  • South Terminal – all British Airways flights, all Jet2 flights (launched March 2026), plus Wizz Air, Vueling, Ryanair and TUI flights numbered BY. The railway station sits beneath this terminal. See our South Terminal guide for walking routes and pickup points.

Airlines do move between terminals, so always check your boarding pass close to departure. In 2025 a record 57 airlines flew from Gatwick to 227 destinations worldwide. For the real-time status of any flight, use the Gatwick live arrivals board above.

Gatwick departures and gate information

The live departures board above lists every outbound flight from both terminals with its scheduled time, estimated time, destination, airline and status, and you can move the date forward to check tomorrow’s departures. Gatwick recommends arriving around two hours before a short-haul flight and three hours before long-haul. Gate numbers appear on the airport screens shortly before boarding, so once you are through security keep an eye on the screens or your airline’s app rather than heading to a gate early.
